    Enjoyed the humor of your daughter and your Family time as your work together in your pole barn. We just built one a few months ago and I'm looking to do lights and finish the ceiling. Your video was helpful and very entertaining to watch. Ryan in Ohio.

    Just curious on the J trim, I wonder if you had gotten bright white for the paneling and not the normal stock white, as white J trim is stocked under SKU is 156-6336
    Just bummed hearing about that as I work at the hudson menards. Turned out great BTW, really impressive! not a dimple in sight

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Derek Peterson I probably got the wrong guy. Oh well. Turns out the ends look great after the walls put up. The side we finished on doesn't look perfect, but it is good enough.

    • @DerekPetersonLives
      @DerekPetersonLives 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I imagine the best way but hardest would have been to use a large Frieze channel, but personally I would have put up the ceiling like you did and then used a normal J on the walls to pocket in the ceiling edge and cover the top edge of the steel for the walls.
      But as you say, good enough, that's all a barn needs to be. ;)
      A bit jealous just seeing the ceiling done alone

    Any details on that insulation that is in the yellow plastic between the header boards. I currently am building a pole barn and really need something to fit that gap. What do you call it and where did you get it?

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Running925 this was regular fiberglass insulation. The only thing unique was the yellow plastic wrapper. It was marketed as less 'itchy'. I think they may have phased this out. I bought it on clearance. So, just buy some fiberglass insulation and stuff it up there. Just don't stuff it too tight. Make sense?

    Planning on doing this, stuck on what trim would be best to go around the sides. You mention it was out of stock, do you remember what it was called or recommend?

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was not ‘out of stock’. The individual I spoke to just didn’t know. Use normal j-trim.

    Hi! Could this be put on drywall? Or would the drywall on the ceiling need to come off?

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sure it could be put on drywall…as long as you secure it to the trusses.
      Not sure why you would want to add this over drywall.

    • @summerdavis7889
      @summerdavis7889 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TractorTimewithTim I want the metal on the walls and ceiling so that I can turn the room into the dogs room and easily clean the walls. Otherwise i just like the look on the ceiling too. In NY State all electricity has to be accessibly meaning the boxes and connections... another TH-camr provided this info, where you live it may be different??? The TH-camr I spoke with mentioned the National Electrical Code and it all made sense... you may want to look into it for insurance issues as well your policy if you have one may not cover you if a fire was to occur do to no access hatch... thanks for the video Peter

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gee, Mckenzie. This would be an aesthetics question. I'm probably not the best to answer that. This certainly has a more 'rugged' feel than a typical drywalled ceiling. This is the same exact steel that is used as exterior siding on most pole barns. Do you have steel siding on the exterior of yours? If so, you know what it looks like.
      If I were planning to drywall the walls, I would probably drywall the ceiling, or put in a suspended tile ceiling. Do you know what I mean? The suspended tile approach is used in a lot of business offices so that they can easily add lighting, cables in the ceiling, etc.

    • @TractorTimewithTim

      I used 1” because 1.5” would not slide in. Theoretically they would fit, but in practice they would not.

    what about access to the attic? Insulation in attic?

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can see us finishing the insulation at the 12 minute mark. It is R-38 12" Overall, the shed is VERY well insulated. The A/C and heat pump keep it just as cool/warm as our house. ...and I don't even notice the cost.
      I have no access to the attic. I figured I could cut out a hole for a door as a separate project if necessary. I'm not sure I will ever need access to be honest. I have plenty of electrical circuits running across there already.

    now call an insulation company. install R 19 x 24 inch un faced stack it in those walls all the way up to your Eve blocker Insulation. if you live in a cold climate put a poly vapor barrier right over the face of it. then get yourself some 2x4 purlins run them horizontally up the wall 24 inches on center get some interior liner panel for the walls or some plywood so you can anchor shelves to it. then have them blow Loose fill fiberglass(not celullose...corrisve if liner is not painted topside) insulation on top of the liner panel. Small through wall AC/ wood stove/ hunting gear/ beer fridge...good to go
