I’ve been using Brakebuster so I’ll def switch to Sonax because I ALWAYS agitate the wheels. BMW M brakes have an insane amount of brake dust after 3 days of daily driving
My personal issue with some of these is lubricity during contact cleaning. I've modified my procedure to add cleaning power and lubricity. I spray an iron remover like CarPro IronX or Gyeon Iron. Let it dwell while I scrub the tires. And then I use a foam cannon with Brake Buster (5:1 water to product) or Car Shampoo (10:1 water to product) over the iron fallout remover for that lubricity during the contact stage. Also, I believe that film left from Brake Buster is the rust inhibitor they claim they have. Interesting results! Unfortunately, I'm out on the Koch Chemie. Too expensive for me.
I do the same with Iron X and then follow it up with Brakebuster. I spray Gyeon Wet Coat when I’m done cleaning and it makes a big difference to clean the wheels the next time around
I can't tell as I don't see any micro scratches. The wheels are coated with CarPro ceramic coating. Iron X does a great job at dissolving or lifting the brake dust and I power wash it off. Then I use the Brakebuster and agitate with a brush. The Gyeon WetCoat helps to make it easier to powerwash the wheel first before applying Iron X @@JCampbell91x
Another suggestion for the next video is to try the test on a non- electric vehicle since most EVs use regenerative braking via the motor, and ICE cars are harder on brakes. Just an idea. Great video!
I just washed my car yesterday and used P&S, and it didn't do anything I had to go in and agitat. If the cleaner isn't helping out, there's no reason to buy it now that I have seen the Koch Kemie. I'm going to try it out. Great video.
Brake buster hasn’t done much for me either with heavy BMW brake dust. If I have to use a mitt on the wheels anyway then it’s barely better than soap. Brake buster is good for cleaning tires I think but subpar for brake dust.
Almost all P&S products I have actually bought and used for myself have turned out to be major disappointments and have performed significantly worse than all of these TH-cam influencers have experienced. I'm starting to think of them as much more of a Chemical Guys type of brand than anything that should be taken seriously.
Where was this test before I purchased Brake Buster? LOL. I was glad to see that, no, you can't just spray on and rinse off to clean wheels. You still need to use your hands.
Great video. I like MWC myself, works great, and has fantastic lubricity. Price is the only thing for me. I have recently found a great substitute that is just as good and cheaper. NV Purge is excellent. Has the iron removing component, great lubrication and about 1/2 the cost.
Great video, but the rear wheels are usually far less dusty. Obviously super hard to get 4 identically dusty wheels. Makes the MWC look even better. Appreciate you doing the test without agitation because with agitation even soap is fine most of the time.
Your coating effect results make sense. Alkaline chemicals are hard on coatings. Acids until they are extreme seem to be friendly to ceramic coatings. I only use pH neutral soap and Koch MWC or TurtleWax Rapid Decon which are both slightly acidic. The strong alkaline cleaners are only good for tires and dirt and grime, not brake dust.
He likes it for regular maintenance weekly or bi-weekly washes. He also often uses it as a second step after applying a separate iron remover. When used in that way, Brake Buster is pretty awesome and economical.
You should see the rotor rust when you use Bowdens Own from Australia. On my older car it was fine, but the mustangs rotors look like something from the 1960’s left out in the rain since then - honestly 50% rusty and you can HEAR it for the first few brake applications. I just bought 3 different cleaners, including 2 you tested here and I will be interested to see how they perform on the Mustang in coming weeks.
need a wheel cleaner and tire cleaner in one and on top of that, it must be at minimum available in a gallon if not 5 gal. 1 gallon would be 30 to 40$ and dilutable. always get a gallon. it makes no sense to get a tiny bottle to almost finish on 2 cars. I use Meguires, Adam's and XtraTough as wheel cleaners. cheap and very effective and dilutable in gallon or more sizes
Polish angel mint wheel cleaner. Although out of budget for 98% of people. Wouldn’t mind buying the bottle for you 😊 I just don’t see any reason to go beyond sonax if 99.8% are agitating anyways. Yes geyon smells and is more expensive so..
So I was afraid the P&S would mess up my coating on my wheels. That's why I wanted to find a good PH neutral wheel cleaner. Would using the Gyeon with the iron remover during usual maintenance washes degrade the ceramic coating? Which to use?
Well obviously break buster will damage the coating it’s a ph of 12-13. I personally only use GYEON wheel cleaner for coated wheels as it just does such a good job of maintained the coating. You can honestly just use any iron remover for coated wheels but I think GYEON has some special surfactants that’s just clean so good.
How about tire cleaners? My tires always get filthy from driving down gravel roads. I tried meguiars previously and thought it did a decent job of foaming up and getting the brown out of the tire, but maybe there's something better!
Adam’s wheel and tire cleaner works better than P&S BB on wheels AND tires…you can also use regular good ol simply green degreaser…or you can try carpro retyre
For tires, try Shine Supply Wise Guy, or Vonixx Delet. Both of those will really pull the dirt and other crap out of the rubber. Depending on dirty your tires are the first time, it might take at least 2 or more soakings to get everything out the rubber. But that stuff really sucks it out...
would all of these wheel cleaner be good for painted or powdercoated wheels? I have white wheels on one of the cars and no matter how much I ceramic coat them, they are still brake dust magnets. I know.. white, duh...
I thought these wheels were prepped or coated differently in the past? After the car accident and two wheels were placed, didn’t y’all coat them differently?

Are you not just rubbing brake dust around your rims and micro scratching them?

This car was pretty obviously using the brakes with a massive amount of dust coming off!
Maybe on lighter coloured wheels so it’s easier to see?

Really enjoyed this comparison. So glad TH-cam doesn't have smell-o-vision yet. :D
Loved the video ! Your comparison videos are top notch !!!! ☑️

The products on the dustier wheels won.
@@OutofSpecDetailing Good point.

Great video. A little out of topic what cabinet is that?
Please test Bilt Hamber Autowheel
Magic Wheel Cleaner is all I use, yes it’s expensive but I pass the price on to the customer! That’s what we’re supposed to do as business owners
have you tired v2 of gyeon wheel cleaner? heards its pretty good and ph neutral
P&S Brake Buster is Pan the Organizer’s number one pick lol.
Which blows my mind bc Adams wheel and tire cleaner is much better than P&S BB

Great video. Keep it up. I'm definitely going to subscribe like the video content. 📹

Compare Adams Tire & Wheel Cleaner.

Likely the rotor rust difference is from pad transfer from track use. You should try Autoglym Magma and Ammo Plum
Ammo Plum is up next to battle MWC
So I was afraid the P&S would mess up my coating on my wheels. That's why I wanted to find a good PH neutral wheel cleaner. Would using the Gyeon with the iron remover during usual maintenance washes degrade the ceramic coating? Which to use?
Use Koch Chemie
You should try Scholl Concepts Rim 7
Bilt Hamber Autowheels is better than the Gyeon and KC which I’ve tried. It’s cheaper in the UK so maybe a little dearer in the US with taxes
Could you try Meguiar's Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner in round 2? Fun video!
Really cool!

PH 12-13 ???? Serius ?
1st timer, Great video ... liked and subscribed
Meg’s wheel brightener ftw, nothing beats it 💎
How about tire cleaners? My tires always get filthy from driving down gravel roads. I tried meguiars previously and thought it did a decent job of foaming up and getting the brown out of the tire, but maybe there's something better!
Brake buster is really good at cleaning tires. Any of the APC style alkaline cleaners will do a good job.
Adam’s wheel and tire cleaner works better than P&S BB on wheels AND tires…you can also use regular good ol simply green degreaser…or you can try carpro retyre

They all work better with a foamer to allow them to dwell longer.

Yes, absolutely
Fireball wheel tire cleaner
Adams Polishes
I thought these wheels were prepped or coated differently in the past? After the car accident and two wheels were placed, didn’t y’all coat them differently?
Everyone loves brake buster. I hate it. Sure foaming is good but cleaning properties I have always found to be terrible.
You’re right. It’s good on tires and terrible for cleaning brake dust.
Brake buster is the best wheel cleaner note i said wheel cleaner not fall out remover or iron remover. Try combining products for different uses
I don’t get the love for BB, Adam’s wheels and tire cleaner works way better
Try Ammo NYC
Brake Buster was all just influencer hype. MWC is the holy grail.
I believe he has gyro brake rotors and they might be installed wrong
What is your favorite cleaner for just washing a car ? “For the paint “?
Tests like these should be made on silver wheels. You wanna see ho well the black brake dust goes away
I have so much brake buster to get through :(
Should have tested on a BMW or Mercedes with silver wheels for maximum 50/50 effect! LOL.
Or my wife's Cayenne's RS Spyder wheels! They SUCK to clean!
Bring it out for test #2!
Sonax has a better wheel cleaner product called "Breast"
and as well i think Sonax did the rotors way better
AutoGlym Magma
worst way to test them on black rims????
i was going to say the same thing...
Poor boy wheel cleaner
