    Nice selection. I just picked up that Middle West Spirits 4 Grain Bourbon. If the Old Forester SB BS is hard to find, $169 might be worth it. I have bought 6 bottles of it this year for $90 each. I pick it up whenever I find it. 🥃

      Well I don’t recall seeing it anywhere else, but there’s always a chance I simply skimmed past it. Good to know it can be had for under $100, though!

    I love the continuous jabs at MajorXero and the Willett Potstill lol! Old Forester SB is fantastic but $169 is a bit high!

    They had a pretty solid selection! You snagged yourself a nice bottle.
    Can I make a suggestion, next bottle you get make sure it is understable and then put some hyzer on it when you toss it in your car! 😂

    It was like I was there, I had the same thoughts as you scrolled by. I also gave MajorXero a little grief about wanting to buy a 3k bottle of Mcallans 25. I'd hate for him to buy it without trying unless it's like liquid gold, but then again wouldn't even that be a waste as well. Nice Buy, love me some MM. You what I never had the CS French O, I have had just the CS. Do a taste on it, like to know your thoughts. Cheers 🥃

      Thinking about doing shorts for reviews. If I do, I’ll have the MM CS FO (geez that’s a lot of abbreviating🤣) be the first one, in your honor.😁🥃

      It seems to be everywhere around here. In fact, the other day I went into a place that had the old bottles of it on the shelf (shorter bottle, smooth glass, teal label instead of blue). Thanks for watching!🥃

    Crazy to see the markup on some of this. Sazarac in Nebraska is like $27 and it's $70 at that store.

    I know absolutely nothing about collecting whiskey but have watched a bunch of videos about it recently out of curiosity. Earlier today I went to the local liquor store just to look around to see if I'd find any of the bourbon brands folks are chasing. What I found was a gazillion bottles of whiskey I know nothing about ranging in price from about twenty bucks to over five-hundred dollars. I left the store feeling even dumber than when I entered. I'd bet there was some good stuff in there, but I was far too dumb to recognize it. I asked about allocated whiskey and was told there is a very long list of people on their list (Oregon) and that it would be months or longer before I'd have any opportunity to purchase one through the state-run stores. I think they were quietly laughing at me. Collecting seems to be a very popular hobby. Very interesting...

      Hey, thanks for dropping in! Yeah, the world of whiskeys (American, generally) and whiskys (Scotch, Irish, Japanese, generally) can definitely be overwhelming, especially for those just starting their journey. I’ve been into them for over 5 years now and still feel clueless most of the time, lol.
      Do you at least have an idea of where you want to start? American whiskeys like bourbons, ryes, etc, tend to have more caramel/vanilla/fruity/oaky tastes to them, whereas Scotch whiskys tend to have more smokey/grassy/malty/peaty tastes, with their sweetnesses being a little more hidden. Of course this is my view as mostly a bourbon guy.
      If you have an idea of where you’d like to start, there are tons of great options that aren’t allocated and would be easy to find at most liquor stores. Much of the allocated stuff are great drinks, but there’s a ton of marketing hype behind them and they aren’t necessarily better than a lot of widely available stuff. If you know which direction you’re wanting to go, we can definitely come up with some solid recommendations for you.
      Thanks again, and cheers!🥃

      @@WhiskeyBasketIt would be foolish for someone as ignorant about liquor as I am to charge into the collecting world. I am just a curious person and wanted to see what excited folks like you so much. I am not much of a drinker. I have tasted a number of whiskey brands over the years but have never found a commercial brand that suited my taste. To be honest, the only whisky I ever really liked, I made myself in a five-gallon oak aging barrel. The contents aged four and a half years in the barrel. There were no added flavors, colors, or glycerin added to the whisky. It was just clean, wonderful product. I have been sipping it on a regular basis for years now. There isn't much left, but I am an old guy and it will likely be enough to last me the rest of my days.

    • @WhiskeyBasket
      @WhiskeyBasket  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@340wbymag Well I suppose I’ve built what could be considered a collection, but that’s only because they can only get so many flavors into one bottle.🤣
      I like to have 2-3 half-ounce pours in the evening, just to compare them and try to pick out flavor notes. As others say, it’s more about having a selection than a collection. I don’t sell bottles and there are only a few brands of which I keep multiple backup bottles. If I ever get bored with it or decide to give up drinking, I’ll just give everything away to someone who’ll enjoy it. Cheers dude!🥃

      I know I have seen it around KC at some point, but can't remember where. I got mine in Indiana, a 132.5 proofer. Will keep an eye out and reply back here if I see it.

    Old Forester Single Barrel at that price is a hard pass for me! I only paid $85 for my bottle no way I would pay $169!

      It is a very hard bottle to find though so maybe $169 to avoid the hunt? But I dont have the fear of missing out so I would pass at that price@@WhiskeyBasket

    • @WhiskeyBasket
      @WhiskeyBasket  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RJtheFED Well I wouldn’t be coming just for the bourbon hunting, but also to play a few of the DFW area disc golf courses. Even here in KC, I find most of my stuff just by dropping into liquor stores near the courses I play, which are spread all throughout the metro area. It’s nice, killing two hobby birds with one stone.😁
