One of the best bands, The Bee Gees were really just incredible. So sad they are all gone except the eldest Barry. It must be heartbreaking for him 💔💔

Yes, I can hear you now. This is one of the 6 #1 hits in a row. This is footage from the Spirits Having Flown Tour mixed with footage from when they were recording the song. The plane is the one they used for their tour. This is a definite compilation of two different videos.

This was a number one. Part of the 6 in a row #1s. Great reaction. The wrote this song and Too much heaven in the same afternoon and that evening wrote Shadow dancing with Andy. All 3 #1s. You would enjoy Wind of change (1979 this same concert). ❤

Their 70’s US produced albums are 1974 Mr. Natural, which is great, but had no hits. They joked it was rehearsal (or the appetizer) for the next highly successful MAIN COURSE with #1 comeback JIVE TALKIN, along with Fanny Be Tender and Nights on Broadway, and the discovery of Barry’s falsetto. Next was CHILDREN OF THE WORLD with #1 You Should Be Dancing, along with multiple other charting singles, including Love Me and BOOGIE CHILD. Yvonne Elliman’s cover of LOVE ME was an international hit. They then used concert audio to mix HERE AT LAST, a live album followed by their 5 hit songs for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack with 3 #1’s for them plus Yvonne Elliman’s hit cover of IF I CAN’T HAVE YOU, Barry writing two #1 hits for Andy, EMOTION for Samantha Sang, and GREASE given to Frankie Valli, then SPIRITS HAVING FLOWN with 3 #1’s being released in probably late 78 and 79: Too Much Heaven, Tragedy, and Love You Inside Out. Andy’s next album with another #1 SHADOW DANCING was incredibly successful. REST YOUR LOVE (the B side of Too Much Heaven, but not on an album) became their only song to be a top 40 on the Country charts, and then a #1 when covered by Conway Twitty in 1980. Also released in 1980 was Barbra Streisand’s best selling ever and album of the year GUILTY with 100% Gibb songs, produced by Barry, and including WOMAN IN LOVE and two duets with Barry: GUILTY and WHAT KIND OF FOOL. Those years are seen pretty much as being one distinct phase of their career. The brothers once jokingly called them Barry’s hélium years. Their Australia years were 1960-1966, then 1967-1972 produced in the UK, then a few years in what they called the Pop wilderness, then the 70’s or disco period, then …

And Barry made the explosion sound using the mic. Remember this was in 1979 so they didn’t have computers where you could just drop sounds in…they had to “create” their sound effects. Barry went to the mic, did the explosion with his mouth and they tripled it with reverb to get that explosion. Watch “The Making of Tragedy” for the insides to this song.
Also, the Bee Gees wrote their melody/music FIRST…then they wrote lyrics to fit. It was interesting seeing them in the studio. And, because none of them read or write music (it’s in their head), Barry said the hardest part was trying to get the band to where your thoughts are because they (as writers) had a complete picture of the song, whereas the band members didn’t.
Next up…I have 3 choices. You can decide:
    1. “You should be dancing” (video with little brother Andy on stage)
    2. “You Win Again”, 1987 Dutch TV Countdown show. This was in the late 80’s and was #1 all over Europe, but American radio didn’t play it. Europe got it right. I like this version cause as a female, I love looking at Barry in this video ❤. There’s also a short surprise guest at the very end of the video.
    3. 1975 live Midnight Special WIND OF CHANGE. This wasn’t released as a single but I love the song. It features Barry in his regular chest voice, and Robin also on lead, with Maurice playing a mean bass.

Always show up for a good Bee Gees reaction. If you want to hear another side of Barry try "The Change is Made". Thanks!

That wasn't a "cough" from Barry. Inthe video were parts of the video Tragedy - the making of and here barry stopped singing bc he wanted a "stronger" tone/sound for this part of the song from the technicians! Check out the video, its interesting to see how they worked!
