I wrote this version of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" as a guitar instrumental. I based it off of Chris Impellitteri's old cover version. I hope you enjoy =D
im so stressed out that after the 10 years iv listened to this i haven't seen you blow up much love bro you should rename this to the best version on youtube
I found this so amazing, I called my 92 year old father and played it to him over the phone. Like me, he was awed, totally and completely. How do you learn this style? I have some decent skill on guitar but nothing like this. Tom Harris Ottawa, Canada
You probably dont care but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my girlfriend recently =)
Once you've started a project and have an audio file on there, look to the far left and you will see a column that says "Inserts, Equalizers, Sends, and Channel." Click "inserts", then you will see two spots where you can add effects, click it and there is a list of the different effects that you can add. Hope this helps.
I'm hammering on with the volume knob off then doing a volume swell by gradually turning volume up. Generally you would want some high gain for the notes to come out loud enough when doing volume swells. Thanks for watching. -Trey Merrill
This video popped up randomly while I was driving. I literally had to stop driving to see who plays it, “like” this video and subscribe to your channel.
Dude. I hear Steve Vai, Mark Bonilla, Joe Satriani, & Yngwie Malmsteen all rolled together, and I'd be remiss not to mention Eddie Van Halen and the Late, Great Randy Rhoads (RIP). Amazeballs, yo. Beautifully done.
I dont know if you still see these comments, but i wanted to say that this particular video got me started on playing guitar in the first place. I cover this song almost everyday as a warm up but i can never make it sing just quite like you do. Just wanted to tell you youve literally changed a life with your music.
I was playing through a Fender G-Dec, 15 watt solid state amp. I used hall reverb for the intro and solo parts, and used delay for the chorus. -Trey Merrill
Sharon, I understand the pride you have in Trey's accomplishments and virtuosity on the guitar. A parent who encourages and nurtures will see their child reach levels most of us only dream about. Good luck.
Excellent technic and feeling to this young and so much unkown guitarrist. Go away Trey Merrill... And also very, very clear notes. Fantaaaastic version!!! (from Catalonia, Spain, excuses for my 'macarronic' english)
yea guys its amaging what he does with a guitar. we just all need to talk him into making it a career. i know him personally and he does not wanna pursure it... idk why
I've been playing guitar for 40 years....mostly slow country stuff. I normally don't care for shredding ( mainly because I can't do it )...but you've made me change my mind. I've heard a lot of versions of this song done by practically every guitar player of note. You are simple awesome my friend. You have a touch that comes from the soul. I wish I had 1/10 of your talent.
Trey your the best mane you do such a great job and i just wanted to say the your one of the best guitarists i have have ever heard thanks for the greqt jam and thanks for being a great soul player
this is going on my favorites!!!!! i'm still practicing this song on my warlock and pedals/processors....trying to find my own version... but 2 much PS3 with call of duty 4 kinda takes away my time lol ..... GREAT JOB STEVE VAI... i mean trey :-)
Still loving that jazz lick I told you to put in there :D I'm going to have to get you to post "Made of Tears" man, you've let that song wait way too long.
@SGouveia95 he uses the volume pedal on the guitar...it can be done with a volume pedal also...these method makes the guitar sound more like violins and cello...etc
exactly. i do think they make a much more expensive model similar to the G-DEC called the Fender Cyber Twin and you can buy an attachable foot control switch, but i've never heard one played and i dont know how reliable/flexible the footswitch would be. I think it runs around $1200. It takes a lot of patience to really get a tonality you like, Its really all about learning how gain, EQ, delays and reverbs work as a "seasoning" to your overall tone but i dont think you can go wrong. Have fun!
Dude that was really really good, you are one of the few guitarist on here that actually knows what he is doing. you should do Steve vai's Warm Regards, I'd like to see what you do with it.
Just sweet bro...You didn't follow mainstream on this one, and it is top notch! Great feeling. "Your" version is inspiring. I actually enjoyed watching every second of your vid. Keep shereddin'!!!
Realmente excelente la calidad y el sentimiento que tiene esta version, algo imposible de hacer sin sentir lo que uno hace. Ojala puedas compartir más de tu talento con el resto de los mortales, no los prives de eso. Saludos desde Argentina.
After all these years, I come back and listen to this version. Truly brilliant, I wish he had not stopped posting videos
Agreed!! Same here
@@flyby4483 Same here in Seoul
This is my Son, So I of course come back often. He still plays and I have tried to talk him into uploading more. He's just too dang stubborn.
Walked my mother down the aisle to this song. His rendition is my favorite. Sometimes my guitar gently weeps
@@sharongreene6647 You should be very proud of him, ma'am, he's amazing! I hope you'll convince him.

Hammer-ons and volume swells. You can either use the volume on the guitar seen here or use a volume pedal.
