The specs everywhere say 139 meters FOV for the 8x42 which is 8 degrees. Compared to the 8x42 Swarovski's SLC at 135 meters for 7.8 degrees. That's better than the best. The field of view for the old Vortex Razor HD's was 128 meters.

Info about weight distribution while holding would have been useful. Zeiss was able to produce the Zeiss Victory HT 8x42 with Abbe Koenig prisms in a much smaller package, an inch shorter

Great review. I am actually considering purchasing a vortex diamondback 10x32 compact (for safaris) alongside my swaro 8.5x42 EL (used mainly for birdwatching). Its not just a matter of Europe, I think worldwide and in particular where its not easy to purchase premium optics, if I spend money on imports at that price point, I would go with Swaro or Zeiss personally and not Vortex.

That was a great review. I really appreciate the explanation of the difference with it’s prism system and critique on the field of view and objective lenses. I read another big difference between the Razor UHD vs Razor HD is the UHDs have a difference objective lense system as well with 3 lens elements vs two in the HDs. I’m sure both the prism system and Objective lenses make the UHDs likely heavier.
So my question is the Razor HDs never had Abbe-Koenig Prisms and the UHDs are the only Vortex Binoculars to have them? I’m also curious why they didn’t make a 10x50 as well?

Imo definitely better than the Swarv slc. Better FOV and to my eyes better optically. Swarv a great bin just preferred the uhd......... no doubt the Swaro die hands will now jump in

Vortex UHD 8x42 uses Abbe/Koenig (Roof) prism, while Zeiss Victory SF 8x42 uses Schmidt/Pechan (Roof) prism.

Your web page for these binoculars states ... “a major highlight on this 8x42 version of the Vortex Razor UHD binocular is the incredibly wide field of view you are presented with when looking through them. At 128m wide at a distance of 1000m, it places them up there with the very best.” But the video review says otherwise, and implies it is poor compared to the competition. While with an apparent field of 64 degrees, they are not quite as wide as the 67 to 68 degree AFOV of the best it’s not as narrow as the video would suggest. Anyway, I enjoy your reviews. Thanks!

That much money for now made in China. Same money as Swarovski Made in Austria, they can get lost with that made in China stuff for that price.
