    I have a 1985 Dolfin. Just had a head gasket replaced, and a new exhaust system put on. 4 cylinder with overdrive. 70,000 on the odometer. Runs good.

    Great rig! Really good condition! Thanks for the tour. I've considered a Toyota. What size engine? How does it do on hills? Do you have the heavy duty rear axle? Thanks again.
    Stay safe!

    • @EricandWolfy
      @EricandWolfy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey JT. Welll...the engine is the legendary R22, but it’s a Four-cylinder engine. It works amazing… But has very little power going up hills… And forget about it going through the mountains. I am confident I’ll get at least 300,000 miles out of this thing.There are so many positive things about this rig the only thing I can say is that I avoid hills and mountains. Otherwise this is the perfect rig for me and my pup. Thanks man!

      Hey JT, I have a 1985 New Horizon and I live outside of Santa Fe, NM on the Rio Grande river. Santa Fe is at 7,000 ft elevation so mountains are just a larger hill than that hill. If I can't drive the speed limit I move over in the slow lane and if no slow lane I watch my mirrors and when I have someone behind me I pull over when safe and let them pass...not a big deal really!
      I have thought about putting a sign on the back saying, "4 little mice working really hard under this hood" but as of yet my laziness has overcome my creative juices. On the level it can go the speed limit hour after hour. Big trucks and fast cars use the fast or passing lane and I use the driving lane W/O an accident for over 60 years, yep I'm an old guy with great stories to tell my grandkids, most true but a few...now and then...a wee bit added for extra flavor! Their Mom stands there with her foot tapping and her jaw flapping filling in all the needed information for anyone listening in. Kids, gotta love'm. Grandpa's, gotta love'm! Toyota RV's gotta love'm!
      Regarding rear axels, check the web for the video on rear hubs, there are 5 nut and 6 nut rear hubs and you want the 6 nut hubs. Long ago Toyota had a recall on the rear hubs but it has closed now for several years so you would have to pay for the upgrade now so check before buying and get the seller to lower the price the amount of the new hubs if needed.

    I'm looking at one of these. Where is the shore power hookup? And do they have generators?

    • @EricandWolfy
      @EricandWolfy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and subscribing! Shore power is plugged in to the driver side right in the middle of the rig and that goes right into my bank of batteries on the other side of that wall. I cannot recommend this motorhome highly enough. My particular situation was I found this and it had 58,000 miles and Of course it has the legendary 22R engine. This is going to run for at least 300,000 miles. If you can find one of these for a decent price it is a workhorse. Thank you have a great week! And stay safe.

    • @zilla916
      @zilla916 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EricandWolfy Thanks for the fast reply. How many batteries in the bank? The one I looked at and test drove has just over 80k on it. It needs some TLC, nothing horrible though. I didn't think the price was horrible. Most at this price I thought were pretty much junk.

      @EricandWolfy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Maria. I actually paid a locksmith to get keys to the back door. It cost me about $200 and he redid the entire system. But otherwise I have no complaints about my entire rig. Thank you so much for washing!

    Why don’t you use to your fridge?

    • @EricandWolfy
      @EricandWolfy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer the cooler. Can’t run the fridge while driving and some days I will drive 6 hours. I’m looking at a fridge I can run off solar only and will always stay on...

    • @MrPHart
      @MrPHart 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have an 1985 New Horizon with a small solar panel on the roof (50W) and a HD marine battery (bought from a local Auto Parts store) for the house and I use/run the refrigerator all the time. Look, find, buy a (small) solar panel and hook it up as free electric from the sun. You don't need a big solar panel unless it's going to power the complete unit. My little panel is 12" X 18" mounted flat on roof with a lead going down into the side close to refrigerator. It works with no problems and no leaks!

      My refrigerator is original equipment with my 1985 Toyota New Horizon and is a 3-way unit, AC - DC - or propane. I run the thing with my solar panel AC but can back it up with either of the other two if every needed. The Toyota New Horizon is a great unit!
