      Hello Aaron - thank you for watching and for your comment - regarding online courses John may be running Garden History online in September next year 2022 in real time over Zoom which worked very well during the lockdowns we’ve just all endured but he hasn’t taken the final decision as of yet All the best 🌸

    Thanks - Is that garden loam or special aquatic soil you use?

    Thanks for this, I realised my irises are planted too deep and have now spread like crazy across the bottom. When is the best time of year to divide and repot?

    • @JohnHorseyHorticulture
      @JohnHorseyHorticulture  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello C H - thank you watching and for your comment: let them finish flowering and then split and repot - a job that can be done throughout the Summer 👌 Have a great week All the best Melanie 🌸

    Can I trim the root before planting it? What type of soil are you using ?

    • @JohnHorseyHorticulture
      @JohnHorseyHorticulture  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Christine - thank you for watching and for your questions 💚 yes you can trim the root before planting - if there are any rotten on the rhizome just take them off and the soil John is using is garden soil Have a great week All the best Melanie and John 🌸

    hiya, is this the same for Iris Ensata?. Ive read not to leave them in water long term or they will rot. Some say plant un wet boggy soil, others say in a shallow pond but to remove it in winter months. Its all a bit confusing to me lol.
    p.s great videos 👍

    • @JohnHorseyHorticulture
      @JohnHorseyHorticulture  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello GingerJohn - thank you for watching our video and for your question: it grows well in ordinary garden soils but if you do put it in a bog situation bring it in for Winter as it will rot if left in water over Winter Have a great rest of the week All the best Melanie and John 🌸

    Does it matter what kind of soil I use?

    • @JohnHorseyHorticulture
      @JohnHorseyHorticulture  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Shadow Leopards - thank you for watching our video and for your question 💚 it does not matter which soil you use irises are easy and John uses ordinary garden soil. If you put a little bit of gravel on top it helps stop animals scrabbling around in it and also looks good! Have a great week All the best Melanie 🌸
