You're game is like clone armies but instead of dying to rewind and see your repeated clone you must wait for the time to run out to see your repeated clone.
Great Video man! Absolutely love seeing the whole process! Especially the development of the art. The white outline was a good touch. I had a similar experience with my art. Makes it feel like a whole different piece. Will check out Yannick's video as well.
Tons of people were having problems WebGL, since Unity completely overhauled the way WebGL is built in Unity 2020. If you were on the Brackeys server on the last day of the jam the chat was spammed with "Why isn't my WebGL build working." The game looks great! Awesome job, and awesome video.
This game is amazing! I love all of the unique aspects, and it was very fun to play. Ik you probably won’t see this, but I found one single glitch in this masterpiece of a game: if there is a character jumping up and down on a pressure plate, the door will open and close, but the lock icon won’t move, and just stay there on the open door.
Nicely done! Definitely a high level of polish from the other entries I've seen from this jam! For future reference working with Unity's rule tile system, our team found a really nice tool called Tilemap Auto Rule Tile by Pandaroo. Using the provided template (which can be scaled how you need it to be) it will automatically generate a working rule tile configured for many of not all possible tile layouts. It took our artist some time to figure out the template, but it was super cool for us when he'd got it down. Maybe it will help you in the future!
good game, cool concept, this is much better than your other games that i've played, good job! only thing i wasn't a fan of was the lack of communication to the player about the mechanic, which will probably land you a few 1, and 2 star ratings.
The compression problem is known I also had it, some Google and you would have found the solution relatively easy. Anyway awesome and good looking game, you both did a great job.
Darn, I wish I knew about this. I was actually already making a game for this theme, and I was nearly done only a day or 2 in. I decided to work on it longer though because I wasn't doing it for a jam XD
GREAT GAME, ive also made mine for this jam, and omg i had the same exact issue with the web gl couldnt find any solution i will try this right now! im also going to play your game asap bc it looks great, amazing channel i subscribe! EDIT: OMG IT WORKS THANKS
I get what you mean about the jam feeling restricting still your idea was really creative nice job. Sadly I missed the turn in date because of a build issue it it’s still so exciting to see everyone else’s game
I was in a jam during the same time as the brackeys one by miziziz and tried to build my game for WebGL and had the same problem! if you clicked build and run it would build it and run it in your web browser and it would work fine but if you upload it to itch.io it just would get stuck while loading! I'm so glad you figured out what was happening I'm going to go try your solution right now! Edit: It works great! Mine was on the gZip compression option and it wasn't working either so I disabled it and everything works fine now!
Wow, really fun to play!! Wishlisted, I'm glad you decided to grow it more! :) Really cool game, nice puzzles, and the feeling is great when you manage to foresee all the moves necessary to finish a level. It's a little odd that you only need anyone to pass the level - could be Jerry, could be the knight... It is a cool mechanic and I don't recommend changing that (the choice who to send for the door makes for more interesting puzzle solutions). Maybe add a little animation at the end of each level, where the person who made it through the door pulls a lever or something and everyone else can pass through the level easily? Something like a back door, I don't know. Also, these guys - the knight, the dwarf etc., they just pop into existence and collaborate with Jerry... They definitely need some dialogue, even if only a few lines. Why do they join the party? Why does everyone help Jerrry? Do they want out too, or are they living in the dungeon and want to be good hosts? :) And, having a party this big, you can have all kinds of relations between the characters, funny and punny line exchanges etc. Maybe you already have thought of all that :) Just some things I thought of while playing. Gameplay is the bomb though, I love it.
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but if you're having issues with the standard unity .gitignore - chuck everything in your scene into an empty gameobject and save it as a prefab as these aren't ignored. Can always unpack it once merge has gone through.
Yeah I also felt like the theme was pretty restricting too but after seeing all of entries, I'm actually surprised with all the different ideas and mechanics and what, 2:19 i didn't know that tiling rule system was a thing!
what's so hard about tiles. just make one tile, that would be base (basically one that you see in the middle of something), make the covers on it (depending on where exactly you need them, go to tilesetter, put the tiles you made, select the main tile, press one button (I forgot how it's called) and only thing needed is change placeholder covers with those you made
You could've given an option to rewind only position, so you can get into secret places by going back in time before the secret place, forwards in time then reading position and your in.
4:30 even i got the problem from more than 2 months I need help my video player doesn't play any video but will play only audio for some reason I need help plzzzzzz
Oh, how i wished some talented, young Programmers would make a HunterxHunter Game. Until now, no one has done real-good with this, despite the franchise being so super-popular and it’s magic-system being even more popular.
would be nice if there was an indication holding jump makes you jump higher. Trying to time the jumps with previous me so I can jump off him mid air was just tedious and not much fun.
I have that same problem with WebGL in order for me to fix it I had to set all of my sprites max tile size to 256 instead of 2048 and set it to a développement build.
I know your not going to see this but a game where you draw your own path. Let explain. You draw your path as you move threw the level. When you die you respawn but you can walk on the track you just created in your last life and use that track to get to the finish. Thanks for reading!
It was interesting to hear this all just wanna tell you that next time when you upload a video just try to increase the volume caz it was little hard to hear....
I tried this, although didn't get it anywhere near completed in the time given. My idea was to have one of these games where you guide a ball through a level by changing things ahead of it, such as by making a platform open or close so that the ball either falls through or rolls over, but when the ball 'dies', the game rewinds, and you can only interact with the world whilst it is rewinding. For example, I had it where you could use 1 and 2 to change the ball's colour between black and white, and it would mean that, when time resumed, once the ball reached that point in the level, it would change to that colour, and if it was the same colour as something else, it would collide, otherwise it would pass through. This meant that, on the rewind, there was a lot of quick changing back and forth, because - for example - you had to be able to pass through spikes, otherwise you would die, but you had to be able to collide with a platform to not fall through it out of bounds. You also had crushers and bouncers: crushers had an animation of slamming forward and slowly retracting, which looped. Clicking on them whilst the game was rewinding would mean that, when time resumed and the game reached that point, it would stop for a few seconds in whatever position it was in when you clicked on it. Bouncers let you toggle whether or not you could pass through them for a second by clicking on them whilst the game was rewinding.
I wouldn't think that this idea quite fits the theme, because the rewind here is just an animation, and it could have easily been scraped out. The true essence of the game is that you kind of just control the characters separately. There is no rewind in this. But otherwise a very good game, keep it up!
You should have made a game with 12 levels and then 12 of the same level but just more difficult. The point of the game is to manually rewind the clock and your a character can jump around the clock and moves the hands by walking on the hands of the clock. Once you completed all the level you would go back a day.
