    LT is a beast...but we must give props to Lorenzo Neal. Fullback is a long lost position in football.

    For an idea of how great LT was, he is 3rd all time in TDs and 6th in yards from scrimmage. The two players ahead of him in TDs are Jerry Rice and Emmit Smith. That's good company.

    LT should be in the conversation for one of the best RB's of all time!!!

    • @schuylersavage276
      @schuylersavage276 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Easily, I believe. He was just insanely good and he stood out during an era where it wasn’t easy to stand out at his position.
      For example, people should look at the numbers Clinton portis was putting up for years without a pro bowl!
      OR people should look at the no name guys who had 1,000 yard seasons and no one cares compared to today where some guys make pro bowls without making 1,000 rushing yards.
      It’s such a different era of course that’s why, but it’s amaZing that LT stood out the way he did when there were so many amazing backs putting up amaZinf numbers.
      And Lt is one of those guys who didn’t just put up yaeds and TDs due to getting the ball a ton and being huge and wearing down the d, you know? He was able to be super efficient with his YPC while also toting the rock so many times. He could hang inside but he was SO fast. He had some of the best vision of all time, best cuts of all time, best on field speed, he was sooo dynamic!! It was amAzing. Not to mention his freaking pass catching ability. Just WOW!
      Also, I think one think that isn’t said enough about him is how clutch he was. He had quite a few walk off TDs in Ot! Or at least 3 I believe!? Plus other clutch runs late in games. And then he also somehow was the best at what I think is the hardest run to be successful at: goaline runs from beyond the 1 yard line! From the 2-10 yard line, it’s SO hard to be consistently effective carrying the ball! But he was SO good! I’ve watched so much RB football and it seems to me that it’s not common a back is able to run it in consistently unless the ball is on the 1, but LT was just SO good near the endzone. He would constantly run it in from the 4-7 yard line and it would blow me away. Again I think that is due to how complete and versatile he was as a runner. He had the vision at the point of attack to decide if he should try to find a cease, bounce it outside, or try to use his strength and heart to plow his way to the end zone. And then of course he had each of the abilities needed once his vision allowed him to pick his course. He had the speed to bounce outside, the feet and cuts to find a crease through the D, and the amazing heart and drive to carry defenders or tumble and stumble his way through the D to the end zone.
      Remember the game against the bengals in 06? It was a 4 TD game. I think most of them all came from within the 10. One of them was SO beautiful. He took a toss goong left at the 10, then instantly puts his foot in the ground and finds a diagonal cease slices untouched through the whole D into the end zone. He made it look SO easy, but that is SO hard. His timing was so perfect. He was like a precision doctor with a scalpel the way he perfectly sliced through that D. It was just amazing and burned into my memory

    As a Charger fan for 20+ years, I took LT for granted early on.I always knew he was great, but from a breakdown standpoint I truly see how great his game was. His vision, patience and cutback ability was rare. Combine that with his burst, sticky hands and nasty stiff arm, he really could do it all.

    My top 5 RB's are Brown, Sanders, LT, AP, and OJ. Just from an aesthetic and skills perspective. But I saw LT and AP in their primes in real time. Haven't seen running backs like them since. And there have been a couple good ones ( on one hand) from 2007 until now in 2022. Players like CJ2K, and Derrick Henry, Adrian Foster, Kamara.
