    We have had Kiwico for about a year now, I love how you can change crates or rotate certain lines....my preschooler is on the kiwi crate rotated with the atlas crate....you can also call and get replacement pieces if your supplies are defective, lost or broken.

      I didn't know about calling to change to different lines, but I guess that's because my children are so young there's only one line for them. This will be helpful for the future when they get older!

    Thank you for this analysis - finding similar items on Amazon is great if you don't want all components of the kit. Here's my analysis of the kits based on the Sense with Me Panda Crate vs the Senser Lovevery Crate.
    The Panda crate costs half as much with toys that have higher utility in terms of different kinds of play within a given age and across ages. Select Lovevery if you would like an heirloom hand-to-hand transfer disc. Otherwise, not bad but poor value.
    Panda crate: 3 good toys.
    1. Soft book - fantastic. A toy that can grow into toddlerhood. At the infant level, just delight at bath time. It also provides a great jumping point to talk about routine activites. I imagine toddlers will love the color changing aspect and that can be a good jumping point into conversations about science and technology.
    2. Blocks - great for open-ended play. At the 6 month stage, love the crinkles and rattles. Can do some cause and effect learning with stacking towers and eventually, hopefully, the baby can play with them to build her own tower. Different colors and shapes also provide learning opportunities.
    3. Crinkle tag toy - excellent for keeping her attention for grabbing, small for hand-to-hand transfer. A panda also provides opportunity for pretend play down the line.
    4. Hand-to-hand disc - this Montessori toy is difficult to adapt across developmental milestones or for different uses. It can wobble for tummy time - may work for some babies.
    5. Ball - quite tough for small hands to grasp but the rattle is not bad. At least it's cute enough to blend in with adult decor.
    6. Beaded teether - great for grasping, good as a teether. Can review colors and textures.
    Lovevery box: 3 good toys.
    1. Spinning rainbow with rattle - Quite large, can use for reaching with both hands once sitting. Can review colors. Rattle useful but a bit of an awkward toy to use for tracking and orienting to sound. Not sure how to transition this item across developmental stages.
    2. Magic tissue box - This is actually quite sturdy. Good for object permanence play. I also put balls in it, etc. Tissues are great for reviewing colors, shapes, patterns. Hopefully will be helpful for practicing dexterity down the line. Good for containment play.
    3. Board book - excellent. Babies love looking at pictures of babies. Good body parts review.
    4. Tummy time wobbler - I wouldn't say particularly special quality - some red paint smudged on mine that came out after washing. Theoretically maybe works for tummy time, but my baby does not find this interesting. Difficult to adapt to different kinds of play. May be intriguing at an older age for reviewing concepts like mass and momentum.
    5. Rattle socks - good, high quality - better than other rattle socks. Not sure that this can be used across milestones or adapted to different kinds of play.
    6. Montessori ball - too big for grasping, doesn't hold her interest.
    I do not have any affiliate or referral links. Without a doubt, the Panda crate is the way to go here.

    Thank you for your videos. I was looking for a play kit for my baby and went with kiwico at first. My baby liked the toys but I didn’t like that I couldn’t see what was already in the kit. So I canceled the panda crate and just ordered 2 love every boxes. My baby is 4.5 months and I know she will play with the 3-4 month box as well as the 5-6

    This is a super helpful content! I think I will go with Lovevery for better quality. But can a baby be entertained for two month with only handful toys? I’m a first time parent and have no idea.

    • @kevin-lu
      @kevin-lu  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think the baby can be entertained with just these toys. I find it generally takes about a month before my baby actually starts to learn the concept of the toys, then at least another to master it. I actually found that with too many toys out my son gets distracted and doesn't really take the time to learn each toy.

    I want to do the Lovevery play kits. I’ve been watching your different videos and I just like the number and quality of the toys, how it’s geared towards specific ages, and I love how they lean more towards Montessori.
    However, my budget says go with Panda crates. But I just don’t like how they put that panda on everything. It feels like a mascot or something.

    • @kevin-lu
      @kevin-lu  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the Panda is a bit of their brand son they do put it on everything. Other than that the toys in the KiwiCo Panda Crates are pretty nice.

    I subscribe to the panda crate ( only paying 31 a box because of the year subscription) because I just can't spend 80 on a box and then 120 it just seems too much. Thanks for the video! I have been wanting to get a subscription but wasn't sure which one was better. I am leaning towards Lovevery but hesitating because of the price. I think I feel better knowing there will be more toys and the quality is top notch. With regards to books, are there any in the kiwico boxes? And did you and your baby like the books from Lovevery?

    • @kevin-lu
      @kevin-lu  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The KiwiCo do come with books in each box. They're not always the traditional books as one box had a waterproof book for baths another had a soft crinkle book. The other two boxes I received had regular board books. They're fun books. We've been loving the Lovevery books. So far they're very simple one word per page books that my son loves looking at every time I read it to him.

      I don’t imagine you would have any issues unless you’re leaving the wooden outdoors for a prolonged period. I’m in Houston, TX where the average humidity is 85% or higher and haven’t had any issues. We do take some toys with us to the backyard and car rides but I don’t leave them outdoors.

      I haven’t personally added the extra book, but others have told me the premium book is just a book that you can purchase at a bookstore or Amazon. Usually cheaper than $12.48. I think the book that’s included in the boxes is already really good and matches the theme of the boxes.
