Joy is a focus before it is a feeling. Eyes fixed on the prize not worrying about the process.
Brother I have been explaining this to everyone I can. To see what God is doing in and around my life in every moment brings me joy. I realized a while back that my focus was the key. I had been reading the story of when Peter got out of the boat to meet Jesus. The moment his focus changed so did his circumstances. I wondered what was it that changed when he began to sink? He saw the storm around him but the main thing was that his focus drifted from Jesus and that was the moment for me. Even when I am down and out. When I’m sick or even dying. When all I have is gone if my focus is on him and his kingdom I still have joy and that makes me rich.
Have you read the book by John Ortberg called "If you want to walk on water, you've got to get out of the boat"?. Awesome.

Amen! Today has been an especially hard day for me battling with an eating disorder comparing myself to other women, constantly trying to lose weight or look different. But my joy is in God, not in things of the flesh! My baptism is this Sunday and I declare I will be focused on God instead of worldy desires. God bless you all

You know what happened? I could gasp only as much as 'Help' to God. And as soon as I opened TH-cam during a short break of my Online Class, I am watching this Word from a year back.
You shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
I am completely alive now.
He is real.
The joy is in the salvation. The joy of serving Christ. The joy of loving my wife as Christ loved the Church. How about fulfilling His joy, by being like-minded. The joy comes from abiding in Him. Scripture declares it all. If we have no joy, it's an obedience issue and it's a deception issue. .
