What you need: 01:25 carving board 01:37 some paper 01:51 jumbo markers 01:57 big erasers 02:11 some pencil 02:40 mini box cutters What you do: 04:38 Trace your rubber to the paper. 06:14 Carve out the extra bits of rubber. 07:01 Tip: Use acetone to remove any design on the rubber. You could also just use the blank side. 07:41 Using your pencil, draw your design within the traced area of the paper. 08:24 Take one of the markers. Lay the design upside down after folding the paper. 09:02 Then, use the marker cap to rub off the design onto the rubber. 10:42 Carve the rubber carefully. 13:42 Ink the rubber up with the markers. 14:07 Press the inked rubber side on a piece of paper.
Cuticle cutters the v shape ones not the sissor kind work amazing for cutting stamps. Super cheap available at most dollar stores. I reccommended highly.
Awesome! I always feel less intimidated when learning a new craft when using less expensive supplies to practice with. More Dollar Tree carving please! 😁
Aw, that's great to hear! Stamp carving can be pretty inexpensive - I'd love to see what you carve! Definitely subscribe, because I plan on doing these dollar store carve experiments for any dollar store I come across!
Thank you! As a mom, I already have the smaller block erasers in stock and as a crafter I have everything else! I’ve made my first stamp this evening and while it’s not extravagant, it’s pretty decent. It says ‘❤️Thank You! ❤️. I wish that I could stamp it here! Now... off to Dollar Tree I go! Take care.
You not only saved me a lot of money, but I can't believe your artistic skills and how precisely cut around all that lettering with that Dollar Store Blade! Thank you, now I can make some fun stamps with my kiddios while still stuck in the pandemic!
When I was in second grade I used a box cutter to carve out my grandfather's signature on an eraser and used it to stamp my homework book. Nobody taught me this I just learned by myself and did it for fun, does this mean that I'm a carving prodigy? (I also played with plasticine a lot, molding them into intricately detailed objects ex. airplane, excavater, cars, houses etc)
It means you're damn lucky you still have all 10 fingers!! Hehe who the hell that you have a box cutter when you were seven? Hehehehe I don't know how old you are but I'm old enough that when we were kids we played with things we would never let kids play with now! I live in a very rural area and went to a very country school. In the late 70s, early 80s you would park in the high school parking lot and there would be no less than 20 pickups with a gun rack in the back window and it full of rifles! I am sure 19 at least of those vehicles were unlocked too! no one ever thought about going out there and getting one coming in and start shooting at the teachers and the students! But there was not the bullying that there is now. Sure kids bullied back then but it wasn't constant like it is now. There were only 80 kids in my graduating class and we were all friends. There were the "goat ropers", "pot heads", the holy rollers, but even though they tended to clump together in those groups at lunch, was nothing to see two or three of those groups all sitting together. half the people in the other cliques was probably related to us anyway!
oh my GOODNESS!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH. It's three days before mother's day and I was just puzzling and puzzling about what to get her then I found this XD you are literally a lifesaver. Thank you so much
Hello Cuts and scraps. Thank you for showing me an affordable way to make my own stamps. I never would have thought about using the erasers to make stamps. So awesome. thanks again for the tip.
All I wanted was a simple stamp that said "Done" and even though I did find it I would have to pay more than triple the price! Plus with the left over material I could make more. Thanks a lot, saved me a pretty penny.
Thanks so much for showing how to get a design onto the rubber without transfer paper!! I do not have any at home and was already searching where to buy some, but now I do not need any, yay!
Thank you times a bajillion!!! (That's not even a number, but whatever, you get the idea haha!) It never even occurred to me that I could use one of those giant erasers as a carving material! SO genius! This was an amazing tutorial and really shows that you don't need expensive materials to start doing terrific crafts. Thank you again!
This was so awesome! Thanks for sharing this. I have so little money to spend on extra art supplies, but have been dying to make stamps- now I can! 💕 thanks for the inspiration 😊😊
These big fat erasers are seasonal. Chance I will find these in towards the end of Summer or September when they start preparing for School starting after the summer. Andrea
Guggle says "B" stands for "black." 2b is blacker than b, and 3b is blacker than 2b. At least that's what Guggle sez. Awesome presentation, by the way! I love your tutorials!
😃😃😃 I've just gotten intetested in this craft and am THRILLED to have found your channel! SO hoping to be able to get started for less with Dollar Tree! Will be checking out your other videos too☺
Really glad to come across you on here.. it was just what I needed to see... I'm wanting to make a stamp to stamp an image on fabric and I think this would work great... thanks a lot!
This video is like 5 years old but hopefully you've been back to the Dollar tree more recently lol. They started expanding their craft section a few years ago and haven't stopped yet. I'm consistently surprised and often delighted at the variety of shit they get in now. I guess that's the trade-off for everything being a $1.25 now. 😊🤨
Dollar tree also has wood carving tools that work pretty well, I just wanted to see how to transfer images to the stamp since I didn’t know graphite just was like that lol
you see, my art teacher made it out like I NEED to pour all this money into buying gouges, linoleum block, printing ink, etc... that's just rediculous. so THANK YOU for making this, I dunno why I never thought of using a giant eraser
I've heard the "B" in pencil grades be referred to as both brittle and black. I tend to believe the former since no graphite is quite black, and because brittle is the opposite of hard.
I bought some stamp making rubber and it's not easy to carve on the rubber. It might be for my first carving it's very detail because that's how I drew it out to challenge myself.
Dollar Tree has cutting mats, box cuters, craft knifes and ink pads. Just remember Dollar Tree gets things as they can. So if you see something great get it.
I tried to follow the ETSY link for a free botanical design sheet but it said sorry this item is not available. Thanks for the video it’s great for us beginners
I’m looking to emboss large designs on velvet. The large eraser is great but do you have any suggestions on what I can use to make a stamp that’s about 12” square?
It's hard to find, but you can find Speedball's Speedy Carve (it's pink!) in 12x12" squares. HOWEVER, if you're using the heat method to stamp the velvet, the rubber may melt. If that's the case, you may want to try real linoleum - it's harder to carve, but won't melt in the heat! Happy carving :)
Love your video's! Hopefully you will make many more :-) You got me carving every day :-D ... I have a question though. The Brother printer is out of production , as you also mentioned in one of your videos ... what should I look for in the printer toner so I can use it for transferring on to the rubber? Thank you. Looking forward to your next video! Best regards, Esther (The Netherlands).
The exact Brother printer that I use is out of production, but the same modern version of the printer (I believe the series is the HL-2300 series) still works! You may want to try photocopiers, which sometimes work - my first transfers all came from the local library's photocopier :)
I can get clean lines, but the erasers certainly don't last as long as purpose-made rubbers - and some erasers are better than others! Have fun carving :)
The eraser is stupidly hard to work with to crave, no idea how you pulled it off especially on the curvy letters. I don't have access to a lot of supplies in person and from an online perspective the jumbo eraser is around $10-$15, I couldn't find it cheaper. I have knives already, but I found a kit on Amazon that has a decent speedball carver tool with multiple cutting heads of different style, and included a block of rubber all for $20 with shipping. Separately the lino cutting tool and Lino block/rubber block is more expensive so Amazon kits for beginner block stamping is your friend as opposed to erasers if you do not have access to local stores with any of these items available.
What you need:
01:25 carving board
01:37 some paper
01:51 jumbo markers
01:57 big erasers
02:11 some pencil
02:40 mini box cutters
What you do:
04:38 Trace your rubber to the paper.
My wife and I used this technique to stamp a little dove on our wedding invitation envelopes. It was perfect and so cheap!!
Lady, you just saved me a lot of money! Thank you!!

Cuticle cutters the v shape ones not the sissor kind work amazing for cutting stamps. Super cheap available at most dollar stores. I reccommended highly.
I like how you don’t need those expensive carving tools for this one! Thank you!
Get the cuticle cutter from dollar tree as tools too
Awesome! I always feel less intimidated when learning a new craft when using less expensive supplies to practice with. More Dollar Tree carving please! 😁

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I love LOVE your frugality, creativity, and your voice. Thank You. Great video! Yes please do more! 😺

This is clever and hilarious!
OMG-d when I was in the 4th grade I used a flashlight and traced her signature over my report card and turned it in. Your idea sounds better.
It means you're damn lucky you still have all 10 fingers!! Hehe who the hell that you have a box cutter when you were seven? oh my GOODNESS!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH. It's three days before mother's day and I was just puzzling and puzzling about what to get her then I found this XD you are literally a lifesaver. Thank you so much

I do not have any at home and was already searching where to buy some, but now I do not need any, yay!
This. This video. I've been looking for something like this. It's awesome.
Thanks so much for this video! I am a novice carver on a budget and will be stopping by Dollar Tree tonight to pick up some erasers!
Any ideas for objects that can be used as an inexpensive mount? I don't have a circular saw or anything like that.
Thank you times a bajillion!!! (That's not even a number, but whatever, you get the idea haha!) It never even occurred to me that I could use one of those giant erasers as a carving material! This was so awesome! Thanks for sharing this. I have so little money to spend on extra art supplies, but have been dying to make stamps- now I can! 💕 thanks for the inspiration 😊😊
My sentiments exactly---no money for art supplies and the stamp I wanted is $7. Going to try to make it myself and SAVE!

Your choice of words was freaking hilarious for the stamp......can you make another that says....'You don't understand'.....Lmao
Good video!! I love stamp carving. So soothing. 😄
this was very informational and exactly what i was looking for :D great video!
These big fat erasers are seasonal. Chance I will find these in towards the end of Summer or September when they start preparing for School starting after the summer.

Love this! Ive seen the big erasers and wondered about carving them. Looks wonderful!

That’s really cool. Didn’t think of using markers for inking lol

Loved this video. Not a carved yet! Would like more dollar store finds. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing! I recently saw a wood carving set at DT that would be perfect for this project! :)
Sounds great! Happy carving!
This is pretty cool considering you can trace any image with a pencil, transfer it onto an eraser and make a stamp out of any picture.
Love this! Going to try it tomorrow! Thank you sooo much!
👏👏👏 You're a G-E-N-I-U-S (and very talented, of course 😎)!!! 👏👏👏
Dollar tree also has wood carving tools that work pretty well, I just wanted to see how to transfer images to the stamp since I didn’t know graphite just was like that lol
You are awesome!!!

that was awesome. thanks for sharing.
I love it.
Thank you 😊
Thanks for sharing
B stands for blackness or boldness, the darker the led looks on the paper means it’s softer.
More please, thanks for sharing
For curves use smaller blade ❤
Love this ! Thanks!

After coloring the stamp did you breathe on it to cause steam before printing to wet the ink again?
First off I wanted to say - this is very interesting and my girlfriend wants to know where you got the cool fingerless gloves?
Thanks! I think I got these ones at Ardene or a shop like that... I always have cold hands!
Bigggg like
Cool
I'd say you stole my eraser idea, if you hadn't uploaded this before I too thought of it xD Seen today, because I forgot this trick... Thanks!
❤❤❤
Did you make it out of an eraser?? 😮💙
👌👌😍😍Ma’am!!
👏👏👏👏👏
Nice gloves
yo you are sick !!!

Cuts And Scrapes Thank you. That's a great idea. Off to the library tomorrow 😊
can this rubber stamps use for fabric stamp printing?
Yes, absolutely!
With the dollar store eraser, can you get clean lines? Or do you find it to chip off as you stamp and use it?
I can get clean lines, but the erasers certainly don't last as long as purpose-made rubbers - and some erasers are better than others! Have fun carving :)
Do you think a cuticle cutting tool...(not the scissor type)...could be bent to use as a carving tool? LOL!
How would you make a stamp out of harden paper op cut out or op glue stamp rubber alike brief from my bot aid comp maximum immunity safety security

Guess I have to head back...I was looking for erasers myself, and couldn't find any.
