    @12:29 High vibration environments (e.g. any travel/camping event) will require a more stable support mechanism for the attached propane tank. A redisign of this feature will be required to improve the customer experience, ensure longevity of the product, reduce overall warranty support.

      @Xthree8892 that’s a great question… No, it does not, but I have a link to what I purchased for myself in the description.
      It’s the main thing that makes it different from the bougeRV version.. the bougeRV version only has 2400 mA battery rated for 60 minutes of runtime versus the camp Lux 4000 mA 90 minute..

    Update: I bought this CAMPLUX Nano 3 pro….it worked flawlessly out of the box! However, the manual instructions are a bit confusing in how it’s written.
    Two…there’s no specific replacement pump available in case it malfunctions!
    CAMPLUX told me one might be available in a few months.
    I always take back ups just in case -because if the pump goes bad-now you’re stuck with a chunk of metal and hoses. :)
    A submersible is personally preferred to reduce noise.

      @GatorOverland  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the follow up and way to be prepared having redundancy, especially if you’re in conditions warrant the usage. You may check with bougeRV or kakadu, they are basically the same unit, and use the similar barrel, plug connector, and submersible pump

    • @GatorOverland

      Not sure what you mean by your comment? Jackery can power it via 12v, yes.. but you need propane to make the heat exchanger work.. propane is required regardless

    Can this unit be hooked up to a garden hose, instead of using the pump?

    • @GatorOverland
      @GatorOverland  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I haven’t tried it, but it’s possible.. other ignition is triggered by moving water once the nozzle switch is opened.. if you were to be able to adapt the quick connection to fit the garden hose technically it would be doing the same thing as a pump.

      Power station only provides power for electronic operations the gear comes from the propane flame over the hear exchanger..

    Looks exactly like the BougeRV model, right up to the same handles on the top! To stop the Propane Tank from jiggling around, put a piece of styrofoam under the tank.

    These things are all the rage it seems. CampLux, BougeRV, and Kakadu. One thing I would like to know about the Camplux is what they say the temp rise can be; that is, how hot can the unit heat the source water? Kakadu says that their unit can heat source water up to 53°. Sometimes I camp when the night temp is below freezing, so a rise of 53° would only give me 80° or so, which is not good enough for a hot shower.
    I will be making my own setup that uses propane for an instahot, but a beefier unit to handle my needs.

    • @GatorOverland
      @GatorOverland  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s a 70deg rise above ambient with the campLux .. I mention the at 5:25 in my video..
      I.E… If the water is 32° ambient, it will heat it to 102° the first pass.. we prefer 109° water for our shower, but 102° is sufficient

    • @GatorOverland
      @GatorOverland  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Carol, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment…. The battery provides power to all the electronics on the unit (water pump, digital display, and the igniter for the gas flame) the battery does not actually heat the water, the flame does.
      The better part about it, if the onboard battery was to die, you could still power the unit from your car socket, portable power stage or a wall outlet with the proper inverter… I have all the accessories listed in the description. this unit is exactly like the Bouge rv unit. Probably same manufacture in china just rebranded for camp lux. The real test and question is what elevation is this good to as most units like these are only rated for 2500ft. Yeah it will work till 5000ft but what about above that as most camping we do is in the mountain at 7000ft or above and that is where these units lack. But for most every other time it would be great for that

    • @GatorOverland
      @GatorOverland  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re exactly right and has definitely been a concern of mine… As far as the units go, nearly everything is exactly like the BougeRV, except the BRV has a smaller capacity battery with 30min less run time, but does provide an AC wall adapter.
      As for the elevation, my experiences with gas issues have been more with temperature than elevation… But as mentioned in my video, there are adapters that you can apply to the unit to use different canister attachments to better suit the environment/elevation. Unfortunately Liquid fuel is typically the best solution for high elevation (6000ft+).

    • @GatorOverland
      @GatorOverland  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @MatthewFordVictoria
      @MatthewFordVictoria 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@GatorOverland.... To be Safe, put the garden hose into a Bucket or Container that the pump is in. That way, the pump can pull the water in at it's own pace. Remember.... there's electronics inside, and if it's set to pull in water at a nice slow speed, but you try avoiding the pump altogether, forcing water in at a higher rate that can't be controlled.... you might wreck it!!! Plus, what's going to happen when you turn the heater off but the water from your garden hose keeps forcing it's way through? That's probably the whole reason why there's a Pump controlled by the machine.

    I would like to know what max elevation can the unit operate at? All units in similar category don't work above 7000ft. The Kakadu which is very similar and fron Australia can operate at 11000 ft. That is a game changer for those of us who consistently camp above 8000ft.

    • @GatorOverland
      @GatorOverland  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Working with compressed gasses is always going to present issues at high elevation or low temp. I looked at the kakadu unit and it’s fantastic! Some good casing design difference, but overall the same unit as the bougeRV and the camplux, and has a 2hour battery capacity . I read through their entire description and owners manual and don’t see anywhere that specifies capabilities up to 11k feet. This problem with high elevation in the gas evaporates before it can burn. So any compressed gas unit could have performance issues above 8k. Typically the only high elevation fuel is liquid based. For the 150$ savings I’m happy with the camplux, but I know I’ll need to be below the alpine line to have a proper shower.

    • @GatorOverland

      As long as you had an adequate amount of propane I don’t why there would be an issue with a long term heating application.. you could put the water pick up tube in the small pool and the water outlet tube in the small pool as well and it will just circulate and as the water increases in temperature it will take less time for it to actually warm up.

      I’ve done about 40gallons of water so far with the one pound propane bottle .. still feels like in have another couple of uses before empty. 40gall/5gal bucket= 8 buckets
      Takes 7mins to drain the bucket. So 7min x 8 buckets is about 56 min of run time so far.. battery claims to be good for 90min and i haven’t needed to recharge it.. so sounded like things are on par.. with the amount of gas left I’m betting I could get another 20 min.. so assume 90min total run time per bottle and battery which is good.. we take 1-2min showers each so that’s a lot of use for us

      @@MAXIMUSMINIMALIST I should have clarified, the issue is mostly with lighting if it has a piezio electric spark generator. I stopped bringing my refillable butane lighters & torches with my camping gear because I have personally experienced this issue & luckily I found and old school bic lighter in the truck. Especially bad in the morning is close to freezing. You wake up to make breakfast & they won't light. Eventually you may get one to light but they also use more gas & sputter to get there.
      The small gas canisters like what jetboil or the little burners like pocket rockets use are a propane butane mix to avoid these problems with one gas alone. There are many websites that will confirm issues with butane lighter or torches at elevation & cold.

    The form factor is superior to anything else on the market, but the performance seems week to me, and the limited water source, is a deal killer, currently use a joolca system for the last 3 years, still very happy with it, if they went with that form factor, they have the killer shower system, even more so!

  • @margyg
    @margyg 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    @mrmajestic345 What do you want for a water source? direct from a garden hose? That is something that would be an easy modification and I may do that next to use this to give my dog a warm water bath outside in the winter.
    I have the Nano 3 Pro. I like it. I have made a few mods because I live in the SW desert and dry camp so all water has to be transported in so water conaervation is important. I have adapted it with a inline shower shut off then 1/2 npt to 1/4“ push connect. Now I can use it with Geyser sponges for water conservation. Also adapted the shower head to use a 1/4" of tubing with a female 1/2 to 1/4" push connector. You can easily change out from teh shower head to teh geyser sponge quickly & the push connect is easy to release & doesn't leak even after many uses (had this setup for the previous 2 years with a rinse kit pro). With the shutoff you can minimize the water to the minimum flow to maintain heating.
    I also added a valves 3/8“ hose barb Y to the outlet. So I can direct some back into a container, this also helps use minimal water all while maintining the minimum required flow through the heater. Since the heater heats bases on inlet water temp, this helps warm really cold water up first. I also plan to use the bypass to feed the split water into another container if the temp is warmer because otherwise the inket temp aenser max of 114 will trip.
    I have added a DC 5.5x2.1 port that is direct wired to the internal battery. This is because the outlet water is always heated. So in case your inlet water is warm enough & you don't want it heated or it trips the max inlet temp and then the unit shuts down including the pump. The direct to battery dc port allows you to plug the pump into that port & without the unit even turned on you can use it to spray unheated water direct from your container. If they had a switch to turn off heating completely but still use the pump & sprayer this wouldn't be needed.
    I am into modding things to make them work better for me & this machine is a compact water heating solution that is easily modified.

    The on/off button on the bottom makes the unit terrible to use. You have to till the dam unit to turn it on or off. Why not put that button in the front with all the other switches and water inlets. And the 1 pound propane tank sticking out to far is not visually attractive at all. Those to small thing makes me not buy it. $500.00 bucks? No thanks
    The propane tank? Still terrible to have it hanging outside the unit. Might as well make that body housing a bit bigger with a small door to have the tank enclosed and not looking at it. Other units have that and are much less expensive. Also those metal loop handles are hideous and to big as well. Better if they add small side handles rather than those big half metal loops sticking to high above the unit.
    By the way…
    The button on the bottom of the unit should be a safety kill switch instead. That way if the unit gets knocked sides ways it will turn off the unit automatically.

      Thanks for your input. I agree the tank out the back is not attractive, but for a compact unit it works. I do however like the Main power button separated. It insures (atleast to me) that it doesn’t accidentally get pressed when in transit if something leans up against it. I’ve had other electronics like my fridge and ecoflo power down unintentionally because somthing pressed up against the button. By having a switch on bottom, you know 100% that the Main battery is off. You can still power from other sources with that switch off.

      @ernestomoreno1847 I agree.. handles are on the top to deter the chance of burning your hands.
      As for the switch, it’s just a master off for the internal battery.. you could leave it on all the time if you wanted. Convenient if not is a failsafe Designed to keep the battery from depleting when you don’t want to use it and/or for storing. There aren’t may other models that are more attractive by construction.. others actually require big propane tanks.
