    I think I'd just cut that seam off the bottom of the towel, or open it up before sewing the band onto it. Then I wouldn't have to pinch it, would I? Love this idea; I might be trying it in the near future.

    I like the way you have sewn the sides. Very neat. The only thing I don’t like is the pinch and pin method. I think it would be much easier to either cut off or open up the bottom hem. The cotton tea towel hems can feel very bulky. One question, what happens when you are stitching a band on a white tea towel and you match the thread to the band. Do you think it takes away from the neat look to have a row of coloured thread on the back of the towel?

    Wouldn’t it be easier to just cut the bulky bottom of the towel off instead of the pinch and pin step?

    I love this! Do you need to stitch the top of the flanage or just at the seam with the border piece?

    • @sewingstudiofl
      @sewingstudiofl  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michelle! No you do not need to stitch the flange, unless you would prefer it was tacked down in that way. Happy sewing!

    I think I missed something. In step 5 when you do the pinch and pin, do you only sew the sides? Do you sew the top again? Once you sew the sides, you just take the pins on the top out?

    • @lizzybit9855
      @lizzybit9855 ปีที่แล้ว

      She sews the top just below the flange. So the top is attached

    I like how you explain the steps. May I ask where you purchase your towels? Seems like a lot of the ones Im buying get wonky after the first wash.

      Hi there, Kelsey bought hers at Target. There are lots of different places you can find plain colored towels though!

    You pinned the top of the towel, with the pinch and pinned it as well . Did you sew that? I saw the sides, why did you pinch the top ?

    Did you pre-wash the fabric and the towel beforehand to prevent shrinkage? I'm a beginner, how much fabric do you ask the salesperson for let's say 2 standard kitchen towels?

    • @sewingstudiofl
      @sewingstudiofl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Prewashing is a personal preference. I did not prewash before sewing this project. I like the crispness of new, unwashed fabric, especially if I’m gifting it. You need 1/16 of a yard for the flange and 1/4 of a yard for the main border print . Enjoy!

    When I try to sew terry cloth, my top thread always breaks. I've adjusted the tension and stitch length a lot, but still it breaks the top thread.

    What happened to the part that was pinched and pinned? did you stitch it?

    • @sewingstudiofl
      @sewingstudiofl  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, Kelsey pinched and pinned at the bottom edge of her towel, and then ONLY stitched at the side of the decorative border. The pinch and pin part was just so that the fabric border laid flat on the towel when it was turned inside out.

      Hi there, no we did not for these towels but if you want to pre-wash yours that wouldn't be a bad idea!
