  • Located on the ocean in Duck, North Carolina, Dune House has been a labor of love and is finally finished! Take a tour with me through the house to see the transformation!! This is the SECOND tour we made as I didn’t use a microphone the first time and made a mess of the audio with songs on the first tour SO here’s to hoping you enjoy this one more than the last one!! :) I also shared before footage, and details + tips pop-ups that I hope will help answer some questions & inspire future projects for you!

Beautiful! I love your design style for this house. Very calming and peaceful! I really love the idea of putting a patterned vintage carpet over a jute one. I'm going to try that!

What a brilliantly executed makeover. The layout changes are simply genius. You turned it into a serene tieless masterpiece and that’s from someone who isn’t mad about the overuse of wood panelling. This has changed my perspective. Congratulations!!!

Beautiful job! I’m an architect and I applaud your design choices on this project. Moving the staircase was a must! Did you ever consider extending the catwalk all the way around, and having the loft be in the prow area where the windows face the water? That way you could have the amazing views out to the ocean, as well as down to the living room from all sides. It would’ve created different area of the room and anchored the fireplace. I love everything you’ve done, including the layout. Just wondering as a designer if our brains see things similarly as far as the many different ways a space can be reworked. Fun!

Thank you so much! :) Super cool idea!! We loved having the great room/ our main hangout area be in the two-story area but that would have been amazing too! Thanks so much!!☺

LOVE THIS! Northern VA native myself- went to OBX for beach week in high school :)
Question: Do you use pads under your rugs? I noticed the bunk room did not look like it had one and wondering if you think they are worth it.
Other Question: What does your husband do? Contractor? Architect? SAHD?
Love your content and design 💚

Hi! Thank you so much! I always use rug pads for clients but often forget in my own houses lol. They are definitely worth it and it’s always on my to do lists for my place when I forget them. My husband works for our design business and handles the back end of things. ❤️❤️

good move removing the stairs blocking the view....+ they wasted a LOT of 'space'......hate open stairs

There is a lot of wood, but it has a certain rustic charm that suits the coastal environment. It looks like a very cozy place to visit.
