underlayers are an understated must when it comes to wearing leathers...actually biking in general even such a thin layer makes a huge difference to temp sensitivity

It’s not about how you come of it’s about what you hit or how you land and full leathers might of saved a lot of damage instead of the Tex I was wearing that did absolutely nothing
There is always a middle ground to be found. As long as the minimum safety requierments are met, a 200 dollar jacket is just as good as a 500 dollar one. The design, quality and finish will be nicer, but that is what you pay for.

@@512460 yeah or cost, you can get Kevlar Lined jeans and Plaid shirts, that are actually insanely comfortable and will stop your skin getting ripped off, but people still won't buy them since they're a bit pricey. A good pair of AA/AAA jacket and jeans will set you back 300-400 dollars.
@@512460 it's not horrible just eats up a bit of time. For street riding, there generally isn't a need to spend that time though. Get a 2 piece suit or seperate jacket and pair of pants. Safe, comfortable and more practical.
Thats how I dress when I turn my K5 GSXR 1000 (probably the most purest bike ever created) in the garage. You can never be too sure.. dress for the slide, not the ride.
Safety is important,but damn the amount of safety equipment and still riding their motorcycle is commendable,for me,even wearing a tight enough jacket makes the entire ride uncomfortable on a regular.
Dont forget about the weight. If you're fully geared its like an extra 30 pounds and makes everything more awkward. Plus you can barely feel your controls. I usually ride fully geared but went out the other day with nothing but light gloves and a helmet and gotdam, you feel so much more agile and light. Of coarse I don't recommend it, because thats always when something happens, but to each their own.
God do I love the fact now even more, that I mostly drive old Motorcycles. ... So I feel already extra protected if I wear my Kevlar Pants to my Motorcycle Jacket.

Yea if you are a new rider don’t buy a suit unless you are racing. Buy a nice jacket maybe some double or triple later pants then shoes that will stay on your feet. Everyone says “dress for the crash not the ride” if you are dressing for the crash you are more likely to crash. Also don’t worry about matching wear BRIGHT colours and reflective clothing especially at night helps drivers see you and you’ll notice how much they actually see you while riding
the sedechi suit at Cycle Gear is $500 sometimes the slightly fancier one goes on sale for that to. Actually get to try it on and the warranty is nice. there is a 0% chance that the used suit that just happens to be online in your immediate vicinity is going to be your size.

In Australia we have a sit called motocap that is not backed by any company's only government funded and rates every peice of motorcycle gear used for road use and it's surprising how the results of expensive gear is
For cheap, good gear. Shop closeouts and end of season deals. Ive gotten great jacket with armor, gloves again with armor. Best deal was a 2017 AGV K3 sv helmet for only about 140. Moral of the story, you can get good gear, cheap and it'll be new. You just have to shop around
Unless your going to be on the track, you do NOT need a full suit. Just go with a pair of riding jeans that have protection in them and a riding jacket. I started out with a pair of Klim jeans for around $350, an Alpinstar Jacket for about $200, an Icon Helmet for around $150 and a pair of Alpinstar gloves for about $80. Thay should get ANYONE started no matter what kind of motorcycle you ride.
Taking the suit off: There should be a loop or ring on the end of the sleeve which you can hook on to something then you can wrestle yourself out of the suit.
I makes me feel better that it is slightly more difficult to put on a leather suit than my Aerostich. Same issue with the boots though. I agree, it's better to put the boots on after.
You can always find interesting pieces. My dad got a touring jacket all pockets decent protectors good went for 50 bucks. (The brand died) its good but a sail so only high wind protection bikes. Thats how it goes with cheap stuff.
For dirt bikes the alpinestars SM5 Rayon helmet or bell MX-9 mips helmets are the best helmets under 200$. %100 Strata 2 goggles can be had for 30$, and work great. As far as gear fly racing is the best for cheap.

Get a wire hanger and twist it to form a lobg handle with a hook. Use the hook to reach around and pull so you don't have to shimmy as much to get in or out.
So coming from an ex pro enduro racer turned to cyclist what I learnt is that you should never cheap out on gear would you take pain killers if you had cancer? No so spend good money on protective gear, it will save your life one day.

People need to learn that there's a difference between inexpensive and cheap.
And that more expensive doesnt automatically mean its safer

I crashed my bike yesterday, and the gear is definitely worth it. I walked away mostly unscathed, and all of my gear was completely mangled.
Legend has it he is still in that suit today.
Rst makes amazing gear for great prices based in England, I know alot of races who use rst I also use them I highly recommend rst

When it comes to safety never cheap out. I ride bmx and a good helmet has saved me a few times. Its even more important in motorsports

This is why i prefer two-piece suits. It's not as much of a pain to get on and off, and it zips at the waist / hips
