I still hold a grudge to whoever designed the mummy. I remember being so scared of that thing, I started crying so hard it woke my parents up. Thing just appeared out of nowhere with that creepy voice. After that episode, I stopped watching the show for a while until I just recovered. Now though, as an adult, the episode that scares me the most is the one about the crazy barber.
I was also very scared the first time I saw Ramses I remember I ran into the foyer to avoid seeing him and went to sleep right after that cause I was so spooked but I now find it absolutely hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I was most terrified of King Ramses, aswell. The moment I saw him in this video, I instantly remembered the „return the slab“ phrase and not 2secs later, he said it. Still gives me the chills, after more than 20yrs.
Eustace was badly treated by his brother and mother and his father ignored him most of the time so the reason why Eustace, wants attention from Muriel is because of his father ignoring him and the nagging after food is because his mother, barely bothered feeding so it's pretty obivious that Eustace's anger and bitterness comes from his tough and lonely childhood he got married in 1953, to a woman who loved cooking and showing kindness to people two things that Eustace never saw in his mother so Eustace was finally feeling happyness, the reason why he treat courage like dirt is because he is the reason why Muriel pay less attention to Eustace and the stupid dog , comes from Eustace being called stupid boy by his mother there is a theory that Eustace and Muriel had a son who died young to an accident when trying to do a challenge, wich is also probaply why Eustace is being Passive aggressive towards children but another theory says that Muriel couldnt become pregnant, so Eustace never had the opportunity to have a son that he could raise better than how Eustace's father raised him, Eustace is a deeply troubled man who should have been seeing a therapist there is also a theory that Eustace murdered a man who Muriel had been dating so that Muriel could be his.
@@eivindgjengstjohansen9625 his father hated him because he was so normal compared to his brother actually an thats why he gave the family fortune/treasure to him and gave Eustace the farm the treasure ofc was useless lol so the brother was duped in the end by the oldman an pulled the same prank on Eustace as a last laugh after he had passed away. but genuinely i think Eustace's brother did care about him as Eustace doesnt have any ill feelings toward him at all most his hate seems to be aimed at his parents an you can see it whenever there is an episode with his mom in it. his mom actually wanted to sell the land the farm is on but eustace's dad refused her everytime she tried an its suggested that this lead to them becoming divorced because she wanted a life of luxury but eustace's dad was content with his trinkets and land but was also very greedy which is something eustace inherited lol but as you say muriel became his light an most important treasure of all and his ill treatment of courage is likely his defensive mechanism to the past trauma he endured from his family he feels threatened by courage because muriel appears to love the dog alot instead of directing that attention towards him. but it could also be just because Eustace is a cranky oldman who forgot how to show empathy but every now and then muriel does coax it out of him thus proving why he needs her so much
Early 3D was very effective at evoking the eerie and unnatural when used alongside traditional animation. Fits really well in a surreal horror show even decades afterward. Not so good for most other genres, where it ages like raw meat on a hot day. Gumball's another show that makes very effective use of mashing together different animation (and even live action) techniques, although there it's done for (very effective) comedy.
Courage the Cowardly Dog, I used to hate him for being scared all the time. But now after carefully analyzing his behavior, I have gained a deep respect for him, bravery in the face of real fear. That takes real courage that not many have.
He is scared, but he always shows bravery to save his loved ones. Fear is not the sign of cowardly, inaction due to fear of something is. He was scared, but he never held back and did what he had to. He is more courageous than most people.
Same. BTW, what do you think Muriel would've done if that Storm Goddess ended up taking courage with her at the end of that episode let's say everything else was the same about that episode execpt courage failed to get Duncan jealous. The Storm Goddess runs off with courage before she could get back up. Then let's say 3 weeks later, Muriel sees them at the store. Muriel sees the Storm Goddess with Courage at the store
You know, despite never seeing that movie…the entire series was quite a blast. Loved it from beginning to end. What great memories from my childhood! 💖
I really hope your channel grows, man. You're doing my favorite childhood shows a lot of justice by bringing them back into the light in a fun and great summarized fashion.
Did you read that somewhere, or did you just come to that conclusion on your own? I suspected it was AI generated while watching the KND video and closed the tab. Couldn't find any names associated with the channel. Low subscribers, high views, popular topics, narrator sounds like it could be a voice font or whatever, etc. I couldn't find any comments mentioning it being AI generated except yours, though. @@rd6547
Katz Candy is my all-time favorite episode, there’s just so many great parts in it, especially with Muriel screaming “GET ME DOWN” when telling Eustace why she hasn’t made him dinner.
My grandma and grandpa watched this with me often when i was little They were the spitting image of eustice and murial. RIP thank you for making my childhood great.
My view of the show is that all of the characters seen passing through are real people/animals personified by Courage. If you live in the middle of nowhere, you’re likely to be sketched out by say, a traveling salesman or a stray cat. As a dog he wants to defend the family, but he must overcome the fear of the unknown. I didn’t watch it much as a kid so this might just be the original design of the show, but I was happy to make the connection nonetheless :)
I wasn’t the biggest fan of courage, mostly because I was a kid who got scared by anything. But I remember seeing one episode in particular about these star squids and let me tell you, I’ve never cried that hard in my life again. Whoever storyboarded that was absolutely ruthless lmao
I absolutely LOVED Courage the Cowardly Dog when I was a child 😭 One of my all-time favorite shows. It never creeped me out, either lol. I always hear about how it gave people nightmares sometimes but that never happened to me 😂
The crossover between courage the cowardly dog, and Scooby Doo was literally something that Cartoon Network was planning on doing for a very long time. Especially after they did that short, wear some villains of courage like a bug in a mummy show up inside the attic where courage was taking refuge in. To the point where shaggy and Scooby reveal their actual identities to courage freaking him out. So many fans of both shows literally wanted that to happen for sometime, but Cartoon Network never got around to it until suddenly they did. Nearly 20 years after that short reveal personally I actually like that episode it was actually the final episode for the actress who played Muriel. Even though the actor who played Eustis is dead this was like a final sendoff for the actress playing Muriel. Because she passed away long before making this her final voice acting. despite the actor who played Eustice, being dead, long before the guy played in the new actor did such a tremendous job like the voice never went away. It sounded like the original cranky, bitter old man we all actually knew from long ago. The funniest part is when he’s doing the Ooga Booga Booga stuff he goes on not only after freaking out courage Scooby and shaggy, but he also states never gets old. Which ironically never did get old that was pretty funny.😉😉😉
Honestly, I've always had a problem with whether Courage can rightly be called a coward. His only cowardly behavior is screaming at the sight of a monster, but then he always risks his life to save Muriel without a second thought. Someone really cowardly wouldn't be able to overcome it.
Fear / being scared is not always a sign of cowardlyness. If you see a lion, you will feel scared, and that is important so you can rush to safety and survive. Courage is no different, when he saw danger he showed normal response but the bravery is not in not being scared, but being scared still stepping up to help others. I always had problems with the saying "Fear is the only thing I fear". No man, if you don't fear you would have been dead years ago. You see a tsunami? don't fear, just stand there with no plan.. and there you go, no amount of bravery can save you from most of the things in this World, only fear can.
your videos are seriously interesting and high quality glad i found this channel early excited to see the progress im sure this channel will hit 100k fast
*A lot of people might not know but the perfectionist was actually mermaid monster in disguise who appeared once in a previous episode, where the path to her underwater realm was accessible through water puddles. By the end of perfectionist episode, you can see her sinking back to her water domain as she fails to beat courage again, but psychologically this time*
This show scared the hell out of me when I was little, but I couldn’t stop watching it. I seriously think between this and The Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy my addiction to the horror genre later in life was started
For real, *King Ramses* truly was one of the most creepy animations I’ve ever seen in my life in that moment, the stark difference between the cartoonish look of the series compared to his 3D rendered character. _It gave me nightmares when I was a kid._
as a kid, this was my favorite show. It never really scared me because I grew up hearing my family's Voodoo stories;. Funny that only now as an adult do I find it a bit disturbing. Still a comfort, though
man your channel inspired me to find all the old cartoons of my childhood so here they are: codename kids next door, the fairly odd parents, spongebob, ATLA, ed edd and eddy, teen titans, recess, pokemon, kim possible, jimmy neutron, lilo and stitch, danny phantom, fosters home, clone wars, whats new scooby doo, chalk zone, phineas and ferb, chowder, courage the cowardly dog, grim adventures, invader zim, neds declassified, american dragon jake long, dave the barbarian, suite life, yugioh, samurai jack, now that im an adult theres like 3 non animated adult oriented shows that can even hold a candle to the above list and thats malcolm in the middle, breaking bad, and better call saul.
One of the things that stuck with me about this show is just how much of it actually stuck with me. For a monster-of-the-week production, most of the villains have a certain keystone trait or catchphrase that the rest of their character is built around. Combined with stories that hone in on the weird, unreasonable fears that children have, and an implicit understanding that Courage will save the day by facing those fears (but never before some slapstick horror shenanigans), everything from haircuts to weird food, from stealing to hunting, from weird business owners to psychiatrists, and that one loud ride at Disney World, seemed a lot less scary.
Man I wish you included the episode of the one time Courage has to fight all his past enemies (including those you didn't mention here). It starts with Eustace being fed up with Courage's favoritism and deciding he's gonna deal with him once and for all. He ends up calling up all of Courage's most notorious rivals which include Katz, Le Quack, the Black Puddle Queen (from that one episode where she kidnaps Eustace and tries to eat him), Cajun Fox, The Weremole, and Big Toe (also from a one off episode where Eustace's toe fungas gains sentience) [btw idk why he invited villians that tried to hurt him in the past but ok]. They meet in the farm basement in secret where they plan their revenge. To lure Courage into the trap, they take Muriel hostage and tortured her (by doing laundry wrong) to get her to call for help. Courage comes in and Katz (being Katz) offers to feee Muriel IF they beat them in a contest. The game: Dodgeball. Courage's loses and as Eustace prepares to watch Courage perish, Muriel calls to Courage asking "What does he do best". The answer is screaming. He screams so freaking loud that he ends up obliterating all his rivals.
I remember getting a dark feeling off of Freaky Fred as a kid; even (however old I was) me knew that there were some serious bad vibes on that dude. That's really what makes him so iconic and probably the second scariest thing in the whole series for me. Of course, Courage's 'you're not perfect' nightmare takes the cake.
Courage even though considered cowardly is actually the bravest character in the show and worthy of his name courage, he was afraid but still faced his fears and always did what needed to be done. Also, thanks for this, as a 90's kid I definitely had a special childhood. They don't make stuff like this any more.
After making a video on a Cartoon Network platformer, Im glad I looked more into cartoons and found this channel. I havent seen many cartoon network shows so this is very helpful for me to get an understanding on Cartoons I didnt watch yet.
As a child who watched a hyena wanting to eat the duaghter of poseiden, watching as 1-4 four cats with the blue cat fighting 3 cokroach i saw this not as a horror but a part of my childhood i always saw them as wonky goofy characters and i love them

@@Lilybeafox Courage the Cowardly Dog is a sometimes forgotten hidden gem. Favorite lines? "A little sport before dying?" and especially "The things I do for love!"

He literally beat up courage with a machine the first second they met and u liked him best xD
@@DocLeQuackthe other one is correct, she is whilst sympathetic, still a horrible person for doing so,
I still hold a grudge to whoever designed the mummy.
Return the slab or suffer my wraith 🎉
Nauugghhtyyy
For me it was the spider one with Katz! :P
When they suddenly show 3d figure in 2d cartoon 💀☠️
I was also very scared the first time I saw Ramses I remember I ran into the foyer to avoid seeing him and went to sleep right after that cause I was so spooked but I now find it absolutely hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think Billy & Mandy could’ve been considered somewhat a horror cartoon too
Most definitely up there
I loved that show
flapjack too
❤
❤
I was most terrified of King Ramses, aswell. The moment I saw him in this video, I instantly remembered the „return the slab“ phrase and not 2secs later, he said it. Still gives me the chills, after more than 20yrs.
I like how eustace somewhat changes overtime cause in the flashback episode he actually gets worried😂
@@eivindgjengstjohansen9625damn that's crazy
@@eivindgjengstjohansen9625dont care
@@eivindgjengstjohansen9625 his father hated him because he was so normal compared to his brother actually an thats why he gave the family fortune/treasure to him and gave Eustace the farm the treasure ofc was useless lol so the brother was duped in the end by the oldman an pulled the same prank on Eustace as a last laugh after he had passed away.
but genuinely i think Eustace's brother did care about him as Eustace doesnt have any ill feelings toward him at all most his hate seems to be aimed at his parents an you can see it whenever there is an episode with his mom in it.
his mom actually wanted to sell the land the farm is on but eustace's dad refused her everytime she tried an its suggested that this lead to them becoming divorced because she wanted a life of luxury but eustace's dad was content with his trinkets and land but was also very greedy which is something eustace inherited lol
but as you say muriel became his light an most important treasure of all and his ill treatment of courage is likely his defensive mechanism to the past trauma he endured from his family he feels threatened by courage because muriel appears to love the dog alot instead of directing that attention towards him.
but it could also be just because Eustace is a cranky oldman who forgot how to show empathy but every now and then muriel does coax it out of him thus proving why he needs her so much
i never stop loving how 3D effects was just shoved in and looks so out of place but yet dont at same time
Early 3D was very effective at evoking the eerie and unnatural when used alongside traditional animation. Fits really well in a surreal horror show even decades afterward. Not so good for most other genres, where it ages like raw meat on a hot day.
Gumball's another show that makes very effective use of mashing together different animation (and even live action) techniques, although there it's done for (very effective) comedy.
@@richmcgee434 true thats why im loving just insert 3D effect into traditional animation without trying to make it seamless
I've always wanted courage to reunite with his parents after that episode ;-;
i'm just thankful they're still alive.
@@hermit_36and presumably got revenge.
I never knew how many episodes I've never seen before this
I miss old cartoon network😢
My mom liked only a few of the cartoons I used to watch as a kid but this was one that she actually loved! Brings back such fond memories...
I really hope your channel grows, man. You're doing my favorite childhood shows a lot of justice by bringing them back into the light in a fun and great summarized fashion.
I'm sorry to tell you this but this is AI generated
@@rd6547 Well damn... Thanks for letting me know
Did you read that somewhere, or did you just come to that conclusion on your own? I suspected it was AI generated while watching the KND video and closed the tab. Couldn't find any names associated with the channel. Low subscribers, high views, popular topics, narrator sounds like it could be a voice font or whatever, etc. I couldn't find any comments mentioning it being AI generated except yours, though. @@rd6547
This is the best cartoon show ever. I didn't experience so much joy watching other series as a kid than this one..
One of the most underrated cartoon shows of ALL TIME 💯
Katz Candy is my all-time favorite episode, there’s just so many great parts in it, especially with Muriel screaming “GET ME DOWN” when telling Eustace why she hasn’t made him dinner.
My grandma and grandpa watched this with me often when i was little They were the spitting image of eustice and murial. RIP thank you for making my childhood great.
The Wishing tree and the Last Starmakers (squid episode) really hold a special place to my heart. Those episodes we're just so emotionally beautiful.
Courage is a coward only on the outside, in how he behaves, but on the inside he has a heart of titanium
I always hear about how it gave people nightmares sometimes but that never happened to me 😂
Same 😭
Same😂😂😂xd
I love "Courage the Cowardly Dog"! That show creeped me out, but I didn't have any nightmares from watching it, either.
Same. Infact I felt sad (for him) and proud of Courage.
No one asked
I loved watcing this show as a kid and then one day cartoon network was gone. this show was one of my top 10s.
your videos are seriously interesting and high quality glad i found this channel early excited to see the progress im sure this channel will hit 100k fast
_It gave me nightmares when I was a kid._
i cried during the episode when muriel rescued and adopted courage
7:57
Muriel: "I heard a door slam!"
Eustace: "A door slammed!"
Best episode ever written.
God, what an amazing cartoon. It's hard finding anything this good nowadays.
as a kid, this was my favorite show. It never really scared me because I grew up hearing my family's Voodoo stories;. Funny that only now as an adult do I find it a bit disturbing. Still a comfort, though
Return the slot still gives goosebumps
90s kids.... we had the most amazing shows, snacks, and music❤
“To everyone reading this: I wish you the best that your life can give you!💚💚”
Suspicious
man your channel inspired me to find all the old cartoons of my childhood so here they are: codename kids next door, the fairly odd parents, spongebob, ATLA, ed edd and eddy, teen titans, recess, pokemon, kim possible, jimmy neutron, lilo and stitch, danny phantom, fosters home, clone wars, whats new scooby doo, chalk zone, phineas and ferb, chowder, courage the cowardly dog, grim adventures, invader zim, neds declassified, american dragon jake long, dave the barbarian, suite life, yugioh, samurai jack,
now that im an adult theres like 3 non animated adult oriented shows that can even hold a candle to the above list and thats malcolm in the middle, breaking bad, and better call saul.
I'm glad I found this video & watched the concluded version. Oh my, I love every bit of this
Courage's past legit had me crying way back then, and still does today
Muriel's character just warms my heart 🥰
Don't forget Di Lung
" watch where ya going ya fool " 😂😂😂
Muriel's "oh my"
Eustace's "what's...eh?"
Courage's deranged laughter after being injured
These sound clips will always be engraved in my brain
Courage isn't the absence of fear but rather to act despite the fear. Courage is always scared and terrified yet he pulls through despite his fear.
For some reason the toe mafia episode was my favorite. When Big Toe says "Dumb dog, you blew up the money!" it always makes me laugh for some reason.
Same here... Especially the end when courage's tongue was infected
What a genuinely awesome, creative, and creepy show.
thanks man the 36 minute video got me through my entire childhood......... man it's nostalgia!
i love courage... no matter how afraid he is, his will to protect muriel is stronger
This channel gots 1,000,000 subscibers written all over it. Keep up the work
As a child who watched a hyena wanting to eat the duaghter of poseiden, watching as 1-4 four cats with the blue cat fighting 3 cokroach i saw this not as a horror but a part of my childhood i always saw them as wonky goofy characters and i love them
omfg 'howdy owdy oody ooo' has been popping up in my head for the past couple months. i gave up hope finding out where i heard it a long time ago. thank you for finally wrapping that one up for me lol.
I absolutely loved the slab episode, definitely one of the best courage episodes
went to the channel to binge the rest of the content... found out I already did MANNNNNNNNNNNNN
How could you not give the original courage villian at least an honorable mention. "The chicken from outer space"
yeah 3 episodes and the 4th duck stayed on earth in the end
bro ngl these episodes were such a fever dream i don't remember the plot just certain images
The scene of the deer just pulling that gun out of nowhere gets me every time 😭😂
Really appreciate you showing certain clips from the show wether for context or just cause it was funny.
Fr tho, I didn't even know a crossover with Scooby Doo existed, and seeing that scene where Fred is trying to take off Kat's "mask" has me sold 😂
I spent 36 mins on this video ....
And it was absolutely worth it 😁
Your doing great 👍 as someone that grew up not really watching these shows (cuz my parents didn’t let me) I was watching more The Simpsons and other stuff. This really does sum up what I’ve missed as a child and I’m loving it.
@@Lilybeafox Courage the Cowardly Dog is a sometimes forgotten hidden gem.
Favorite lines?
"A little sport before dying?"
and especially "The things I do for love!"
This brings back memories. I enjoyed watching this as a child. There were also some episodes/monsters that scared me and I could relate to Courage. Too bad they don't make such nice cartoons nowadays.
P.s. this cartoon is based on a real life couple that use to live out in the Nevada desert and they reportedly saw strange things
Damn I didnt realise that the Scooby Doo crossover movie was 2021..it feels like it should've happened WAYYYYYY sooner. it also felt like there were WAYYY more episodes of courage than there actually were for how burnt it was into our brains
These videos are amazing. Keep up the great work. Bringing back all my childhood memories watching your vids. Would love to see one on the grim adventures of billy and Mandy!
Loving this series! Thank you for letting me revisit my childhood.

I watched this cartoon my whole childhood. It gave me courage because, I was a coward when I was a kid. Courage gave me courage ❤
The windmill episode where the apparitions would cut off the head of anybody who owned the windmill left broken was my favorite one. It was pretty intense as a kid seeing cartoon beheadings 😅
This show honestly feels like a fever dream at times
This cartoon always gave me a weird vibe, I was too young to understand it but it was one of the few cartoons they had playing on a Sunday morning on TV at the time.
