Love this! Teamwork is the most important thing, always lay out what you expect from them and also what they can expect from you, that way there's no surprises on the pitch
I have only been reffing for 12 months and L7 and I have been given 2 finals over the next month in the middle so thank you for this as it’s very insightful.
I was going to ask how long was your pre match as I like to keep it at 5 minutes or under and I had my area observation officer tell me it needs to be 15 minutes I could understand at your level if it was that long
I think 5 mins is perfect! You want to get your point across without losing interest! Also it’s what works best for you! Don’t let people dictate something that might not work for you!
Do you referee with communication set (microphone). It is my first year as an AR and, apart from 1 game, I could always flag with help of communication. I feel much more secure that I can talk to my ref and other AR all the time. One time I had an older referee who didn't want to use this because he never used it. As a result 2 times we made a different decision of who had tot throw in the ball and he left me with my flag up during an offside situation. Eventually I've put my flag down because the game had totally moved to the other side of the field and he gave a free-kick in thzat area. Do you use micro/communication?
We do in the higher levels but that is for the PRO referees. We agree talking through the game is alot easier for both on and off the field. i would love to use it in everygame
This is perfect timing for me, I have my first step 7 game with neutrals tomorrow. It’s like it’s meant to be 😊
Amazing! hope it went well!
