    My #1 complaint is the location of the high beam switch. When I wear winter gloves I often accidentally brush it and turn the highs on.

      Yeah me too sometimes.

      All the time! It's so annoying. My gloves all have a wiper on the index finger and that is hitting the switch after a turn and using the clutch. I don't use the quick shifter in low rev and speed.

    Having picked up my new one a few days ago, I wondered what the clatter was from the middle of the bike... Now you've let me know. Indicator button now works like normal on the 23 model with no issues.

    I have a 2022 and I’ve about 5K miles on it now. For the first time I accelerated as hard as I could following a sport bike, holy shit did the handbars start shaking side to side, I had a 15 SDR and never had that issue. I assume it’s all the length and travel in the forks. Next time I’ll lean WAY forward to try and keep more weight on the front end!

    • @Dakar_Steve
      @Dakar_Steve  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will still do it. I've put thicker oil in the steering damper, dropped your forks another 5mm both helped but it's still there. Next is tyres but I begrudge swapping them out until needed.

    If you never go off-road, ignore the stated manual slack, you don't need that amount of slack. Hate that indicator switch. Yes, self cancel is too long- my old 1982 RD350LC had better self cancellers. Yup, cubby-hole is too small for a real phone. Not had your BT issues, mine has worked fine with iPhone, I get names\ numbers\ skipping tracks works fine (I also have a Cardo headset).

    Great video mate I have a 21 plate sas
    1 I’ve never experienced chain slap at all but I clean and lube often
    2/3 indicator switch never had a problem I don’t use auto cancel just do it myself think it’s more a if you forget feature
    4 the cubby hole is useless I plug the phone into the socket under the screen with an adapter and phone on quad lock
    5 connectivity is average I use shockwave and I’ve found it better if set to corded headset and just connected to your phone not the screen
    Niggly little issues but Still a great bike tho never fails to make me smile every ride

    Yep that chain can get real noisy on rough ground, but if your on good tarmac, its OK. A good trade off for the extended swingarm though as the handling is much better as a result. You can get your indicator self cancel time altered by the KTM guys at your next service - got mine down to 6 flashes.....Yes the indicator assembly is a pigs ear. Another thing you obviously dont have is the handbrake / hill hold... dont get me started and at £180.... The one on my H-D Pan Am was stunning...Maybe KTM need to look at their ' Is it fit for purpose department'...as a lot isnt inc that stupid cubby hole..... a wasted opportunity if ever. Hey ho - get the bike out on dry free flowing roads and all is forgotten (almost).... ride safe.

    • @Dakar_Steve
      @Dakar_Steve  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the hill start assist, I have the full tech pack, I tend to hold the brake regardless so it never entered my head but the fact it switches off before you move away is a pain to be fair.

    Regarding Bluetooth , had similar problem but actually you don’t need to connect helmet and phone separately to the bike. Connect your helmet to your phone and then when you go the the myride Bluetooth option for the helmet, chose wired. It will connect much faster and solve audio issues and you can still control audio from the handlebar. At least worked for me with iPhone and Sena … ride safe!!

      @@Dakar_Steve The irony is that I sold my 2016 GS LC because I got crazy with paying so much money and having an engine that made such an awful rattle (ticking) at warm idle. So I got a very young 2nd hand LC8 and was very happy (also saw on youtube that the new 1250 gs also had the left cylinder racket problem) But now my LC8 has a ticking (rear cylinder) as well and my gut was pushing me towards the 2023 model, but hearing yours frightens me. All the bikes I'd want, have cam chain tensioner issues (or cam pulley slack issues) it seems. Are we to buy Africa Twins? And by the way, the 1190 adventure also has that chain slap issue. I didn't hear it on the 2022 Super Adventure S I rode as test bike, so I thought it was solved, but...no again.

    You missed 5 things that are easily more annoying than the USB charge port location… 1. The “KTM wobble” between 30-40mph with a steady throttle or cruise control on… Mine is a lot better than it was with different tyres fitted, more preload and no top box, but it can be unruly to some! 2. Wind noise from the stock screen and mirrors! It’s almost unbearable even with earplugs in, a naked bike is better! 3. Relative lack of engine braking below about 4k rpm… For some reason KTM have engineered MSR to suddenly give you literally no engine braking as you slow down through about 4k, above this threshold engine braking is nice and predictable, but then suddenly the bike behaves like an old school 2 stroke and carries way too much momentum… 4. The brakes… They are just about adequate is all I can say about them, and nowhere near as good as Brembo M50’s or Stylema’s on the competition bikes… 5. The stock seats are woefully uncomfortable! The Powerparts ergo seats are better, but still not amazing, and they’re not cheap either. But the stock seats need resigning to the bin!
    I’m ignoring the lack of heated grips and tech pack as standard, as despite me believing they should come stock, I am assured by many owners that they don’t want them and/or at least want the choice to pay for them or not… 🤷🏻‍♂️
    Despite all this… I wouldn’t change the bike for anything else! I am planning to buy the updated switchgear to get rid of the horrid indicator switch, and possibly a brake upgrade at some point in the near future though…

    • @Dakar_Steve
      @Dakar_Steve  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do agree things like heated grips and rider modes should be included on a bike of this price. Personally I have no issues with the brakes, I had a SDR with stylemas before this and I didn't rate the brakes on that. I know what you mean about the MSR taking over but I suspect it's a safety thing to stop the rear wheel locking. I don't have any wind noise issues at all, it could be your helmet, I usually ride with an LS2 Explorer (wind does catch the peak) and sometimes with my HJC but not often. The HJC is noticeably louder.
