Any one with vinyl should have one. I even clean new albums. Use the spacers between albums to separate more. Also used a exfoliant as well and lastly if you can reclean vinyl to remove a soap residue from cleaning solution. It might call build up on stylist. I have same cleaner with DYI motor spinner. Now at over 440 albums cleaned and going strong.

I also have that exact unit. I've cleaned a couple hundred albums, many from the 60's. It can't remove scratches but it does rid the grunge from the grooves resulting in much improved sonics.
I clean 3 records at a time, spaced about an inch apart. I add 20 drops of Triton X-100 and 5 drops of 90% isopropyl alcohol. Before cleaning the records I run the unit for 20 min. to warm the water which I set at 40c but I will start the cleaning process when it reaches 30c.
I set the timer for 5 min. and clean without rotation. I rotate the records 90 degrees and clean for another 5 min, another 90 for 5 and another 90 for5. I then turn on the rotating motor and clean for another 5.
After cleaning I leave the records on the spindle, Drain the tank with an old hanky to filter the water. Refill the tank with clean distilled water and run another 5 min to remove all cleaning solution. Filter the rinse water and remove records & let them air dry.
I probably clean 7-10 times before changing the cleaning & rinse waters.

I just got one of these yesterday and am already impressed. I have cleaned maybe 40 records, some i thought were clean and some i knew were not clean. Now im fairly certain they are all clean. I tested out playing anew record and an old record (47 years old). I had cleaned them with a spin cleaner and thought they were good. They sounded just fine. Then I cleaned with the Vevor and the difference is amazing. The new record sounded new and the old record sounded brand new again. Love the price and ease of use. I just have 1,000 more to go 😞

I paid $150 delivered for my Vevor which is mechanical control instead of digital about 7 months ago. I've cleaned hundreds of lps and am very happy with the results. A few things I've learned. Place the cleaner on a towel, it's quieter. Get a rheostat that slows the speed of the rotisserie, cheap. I also use Groovewasher.prodicts, G2 to lightly preclean and GSonic in the tank. I run it with 2 lps centered in the tank at about 85 degrees for 10 minutes. I vacuum dry on my 30 year old NittyGritty 1.5. Let air dry for a few minutes. New inner and outer sleeves with a small mark with a sharpie on the outer sleeve to note it's been cleaned and done. Remarkable results.

I have this same ultrasonic cleaner but with a different mechanism to turn the records. I’ve been cleaning records for over 40 years and this is far and away the best method I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend some type of emulsifier solution to break up the fine oils and dust. I use a photographic cleaner, but any non-alcohol based cleaner such as liquinox or turgikleen will do the trick. You only need a couple of drops, so a bottle lasts a really long time. I rinse mine with distilled water then set the records on solo cups to dry with a small fan. It’s a pretty low tech operation. I typically run brand new records (yes, you have to clean new records) for 8 minutes and others for 15 minutes. Anything more than that is overkill, IMO. For really, really dirty records, a couple of cleans may be necessary. Records are a lot more durable than people might think. Sure if it’s really scratched, that’s a problem, but a lot of the time records are just really dirty. You may be surprised at how well you can get an old “wall hanger” to play with a good cleaning.

It might be advantageous to (when doing 2 records) to use all the spacers between the 2 LPs. More room for the water to flow in between.

According to Discogs I've cleaned 458 albums to date and not a hiccup with this exact machine. Distilled water and 1/4 cup of isopropyl. Beautiful, just beautiful results and they sound as good as they look. Ive done 1,2, 4, 6, 8 at a time and all are spotless and equally quiet when played. I use a Black Diamond Weave towel from the Rag Company to dry as soon as they come out. Then I rack dry with a small fan for 10 minutes. Sleeve the up and they are good to go. I have this unit. I discovered a fairly serious issue with it that could easily damage all the records used in the device. Take a close look at frames around 5:12
Notice where the record support axel collar attaches to the short motor axel. See how the record axel support collar fits into the slot on the vertical mount? See how close the fit between the rotating record axel sleeve collar and the motor axel is? Well actually, it is TOO CLOSE AND THEY RUB TOGETHER, CAUSING TINY METAL PARTICLES TO SCRAPE OFF AND FALL INTO THE BATH.
I had to use some metal files and file the slot in the area of the bottom position, where the sleeve collar would be when the records are rotating in the bath, in order to eliminate the metal particles.
    You have been warned...

I've had one of these for years and I have a few tips. Leave the heat off, you don't need to clean for more than 10 minutes, when cleaning just 2-3 records use the extra acrylic spacers between the records so there is more room for the bubbles to get in there, you want the records to be tight on the spindle - they should not rotate.

In europe they also sell analogue versions which are a bit cheaper, approx 160 eur. I have used it to cleanup unplayable moldy records ( distilled water and a few drops of dishwasher solution )... results are very good. It does not clean up a lot of the big pops and cracks though... damaged records remain damaged records. In my case when the appliance was set to 30 celcius, i measured 42... so be a bit carefull with temp settings. You do not wanna warp your vinyl.

Great review it’s a game changer. The spacing as mentioned good idea. I also rinse the records with distilled water to remove any surfactant left behind then wipe them in a circular motion using the softest towel from the rag company 0% lint! I then slide them completely dry into a static free sleeve. One option on my ultrasonic is a de-gasser which I run for 30 minutes. It takes the tension out of the water. Thank You

I own the same unit. I recommend if you're cleaning just two records at a time, consider placing the extra spacers between them. It's been noted that the ultrasonic cleaner may not clean effectively if the records are positioned too closely together. In this size tank I only clean three records at a time, spacing the records about 1" apart from each other.

  • @Bootradr
    @Bootradr 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

There's one thing you don't find mentioned in a lot of the talk on these ultrasonic cleaners. At least not in the manuals or material included is it mentioned. You have to rinse the surfactant off after using the ultrasonic cleaner to avoid future problems to your LPs from the surfactant chemicals. Especially the primary chemical which I cannot remember the name of right now..
I have the same ultrasonic cleaner that you do and I got mine about 2 years ago on amazon. They were about $225 back then so they've come down in price. I had previously gotten one of the SpinClean washers but I never used it. But that comes in handy for rinsing my records after ultrasonically cleaning them. I put distilled water in it and use it to rinse my records after taking them out of the ultrasonic cleaner. I'm not 100% sure what the surfactant in the GrooveWasher fluid is. But I'm sure it is the same as what is in my Tergicleen surfactant. The surfactant is what gets the water drops into the grooves and loosens the grime or particles needing to be cleaned. I tried using the ultrasonic cleaner without any surfactant at the beginning but the records just weren't coming out as clean. Tergicleen was what I needed to use and it did the trick and it works great.
But you really do want to rinse your records with distilled water after ultrasonically cleaning them. There are a lot of channels in the VC that talk about the topic and there are some that won't even use the surfactant because of the damage it reportedly can do to vinyl records. But if it's rinsed off, the problem has been removed and it's nothing to worry about most people agree. The SpinClean cleaners are the perfect tool to rinse with. They usually go on sale near Christmas time and they also have dropped in price I've noticed in recent years.
I just wanted to mention this to you so you could look into it yourself and determine what you want to do as far as removing the surfactant goes.
    Brian in fort Worth 🎶

This is really important. The Spinclean or similar is ideal. As to using a surfactant, less is more. Triton X-100 is now banned in the UK/EU. It's also a pig to rinse off. Tergitol 15-S-9 (USA) or Dehypon LS54 (UK/EU) are my weapons of choice. Either should be used at about 0.5ml to a 6.5 litre tank.

I use Distilled, ilford ilfotol wetting agent and a cap full of 99.99% lab grade Iisopropyl alcohol (if there are finger prints all over it for the pre clean) Run the Vevor with your fresh mix for 30 minutes to degause the mix in the bath. Yeah its a process but it is a labor of love and the results are off the hook! I do 1 album at a time. oh I got a voltage regulator so the motor the record spinner so it turns slower! (there cheap on amazon) The Vinyl Vac pre clean is so worth it! Oh one last thing, Like I said I do 1 at a time and use spacers to get the album as center as I can in the Vevor Bath.

Here’s some tips, since I have one of these and have used on over 500 records
    Turn the unit on, duh
Then I set my water temp, which is the left side controls to 29 Celsius, then wait for both this numbers to reach 29, then start the cleaning cycle for 30 minutes
From what I found, the ultra sonic cleaner is more effective with more space between each record, those spacers are fine but for problematic records, you must leave more space for the waves to be more effective.
I also suggest getting a spray bottle or pump sprayer of some sort to post rinse the records after the ultra sonic cleaning
I don’t know what you added to your water, I use surfactant and some isopropyl alcohol, that has worked well for me

I was wondering about this. I use a spin clean kind of thing. It cleans great, even new records, they are super dirty. I might splurge and get this and a Pi album straighter since I have gotten 2 brand new records that were warped beyond playing. One was brand new, and one was older. Hard to get the new one replaced because it was special edition. Love to get them repaired.

I have one of these. The stock spinner is too fast. I replaced the motor in mine with a 0.6rpm unit. It took about 20 minutes including desoldering and soldering. Spacing the records at a single wavelength distance of about 37mm means you can fit 3 records on an adapted spinner rod. 10 minutes at 0.6rpm is about right.

      @TheVinylDen  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

Yes I’ve been reusing the water. When I’m done cleaning records I empty the basin back into the gallon jugs. I noticed that as I drain it most of the dirt and debris collects at the bottom of the basin so I don’t fully empty the water into the jugs. The last 1/4” or so of water I waste, so eventually I’ll have to get more distilled water but so far I’ve been using the same and have cleaned well over 100 records. I just monitor the cleanliness of the water I’m using and if it gets dirty I’ll replace it.

    Product: Vevor Ultrasonic Cleaners
Hazard: The products present a high risk of electric shock as the products are inadequately earthed and of inadequate size which caused the earthing wire to overheat and melt the insulation. The plug also failed to comply with BS1363-1 as the earthing pins had less than 3.9 mm thickness, which is below the minimum required.

@@apollomemories7399 I'm very familiar with both. I own one and a good friend owns the Humminguru., which I have used. All US machines clean the exact same way, through cavitation.
There are differences in frequencies between machines but the Vevor and the Guru use the same frequency. They clean in the exact same way, period. And you don't have to clean one record at a time using units like the Vevor. The spacers they provide are too thin but I don't use them; my spinner spaces three records slightly more than an inch apart, so I can clean and dry three records in fewer than 10 minutes.
