Thanks Kathleen! 🥰 Lots more to do and explain as stuff progresses. We want people to understand gardening with out all the loops and tech terms. Feed the soil and watch plants grow better!
Great tour!!! I love how you used the logs to surround those sunflowers! I need to do that - I randomly planted some in our woods and some I didn't mark so well...so right now they're incognito lol. I need to do what you did! I'm excited to see how all the plants do in those grow bags! I'm using grow bags this year for the first time but just with potatoes. Thanks for sharing! 😊💗👍
I'm slacking! I have a 5 gallon bucket Amazon cheapo $35 solar drip irrigation system going in due to grow bags drying fast! Nice to be able to move them as needed. I did leaf mulch the tops with some extra fine pine shavings to retain moisture. It's ALL ABOUT Moisture retention! ( This keeps the soil Alive! )
Absolutely appreciate the shout out in todays video. youll notice a huge change now that the lettuce is in that cooler shadier spot. they will get fat pretty quick. Everything is looking amazing lots of peppers and melons galore. i wish you the absolute greenest and most bountiful harvest this season.
We're harvesting off them now. No point in letting them sit there to look pretty. We'll do much better next year. I was 1 month behind and the bed wasn't ready. Most welcome for the mention! Just excited you grow in the desert! When I film all I'm thinking about is running back inside into the AC 🥶
So far the basic super soil mix is good! ( Native soil/yellow TN clay sifted 50% ) then 20 % compost, then 20 % peat moss, then 3% leaf mold, 3% biochar, 3% perlite, 0.5% Organic Blood meal, 0.5% Organic Bone meal. ( What we are missing in the mix to go from basic to ultra super ) that would be Green sand, Kelp meal, seaweed meal, alfalfa meal, fishmeal.
We have crappy soil here in Florida. So I make my own The majority of the time. Coco coir, compost, perlite in a 1:1 ratio. I also add amendments like bone meal, blood meal, azomite
Yay peas I just noticed my first bloom on mine today. Don't be touching Mrs wickershires flowers is right!!! It cracks me up you can just start new beds all over. Nice.
This is a big year for growing here off grid. We are trying a new trellis system instead of growing in the native clay. Thanks for watching and adding support! The Shire 🥰
Looking good Billy, can't wait to see how the melon trellis works out
2 melons being problematic atm. I re-seeded.
Just put in the 1st watermelon.
