Just so people know, this isn't a "real" bomb suit. The helmets of a real bomb suit used by the military have a fully enclosed helmet, to mitigate your sinuses and inner ear from turning to mush from the concussive overpressure. I assume this is a cheap model sold to rural police departments with small equipment acquisition budgets. Kind of a thing they know they'll never need, but someone with zero experience said they need. A bomb fragment can be as heavy, and as fast moving, as a bullet. So if it doesn't stop a bullet, it won't stop fragmentation.
I heard it from a real expert. The suit of this suit was to prevent the expert from being torn to pieces when the bomb went off and to have him die in one piece.
I work in the facility where those are made and was making the chest plates today actually. Was always curious what different cal bullets would do to it. Have to keep in mind that it is meant to stop shrapnel and disperse an energy shockwave. The foam provides some anti spalling protection before the Kevlar.
