A Brief History of Wat Ratchapradit
Built in the reign of: King Rama I
Year of construction: 1807
Location: Bangkok, Thailand, on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River, Nearby Wat Phra Kaew, The Grand Palace , Wat Pho, Wat Mahathat, Tha Phra Chan Market.
Significance:
• A royal temple of the first grade
• Houses the Phra Buddha Ratchapradit, a large bronze Buddha image
• Known for its beautiful architecture and murals
Brief history:
• Wat Ratchapradit was built by King Rama I as a royal temple to commemorate his coronation.
• The temple was designed and constructed by a team of Thai and Chinese craftsmen.
• The temple was completed in 1827 and has been used for various royal ceremonies since then.
Features:
• The Phra Buddha Ratchapradit, a large bronze Buddha image that is 15 meters high
• The ordination hall, which houses a collection of Buddha images
