A Brief History of Wat Pho
Built in the reign of: King Rama I, expanded by King Rama III
Year of construction: 18th century, with major renovations in the 19th century
Location: Bangkok, Thailand
Significance:
Houses the famous reclining Buddha statue, Wat Pho's most iconic landmark
Serves as a center for traditional Thai medicine and massage
Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Brief history:
Wat Pho's origins date back to the Ayutthaya period, predating the establishment of Bangkok as the capital.
King Rama I renovated and expanded the temple, adding numerous Buddha images and structures.
King Rama III further enlarged the temple and built the reclining Buddha statue, which is 46 meters long and 15 meters high.
Wat Pho became a renowned center for Thai medicine and massage during the 19th century.

The ordination hall, which houses a large bronze Buddha image
The Phra Mondop, a beautiful pavilion housing a collection of Buddha images
