- This video is the second part of the heritability estimation series. The method discussed in this video is the regression of offspring on one parent to estimate heritability. The regression method is used to estimate narrow sense heritability and it is based on the resemblance between parents and their offspring. This method can also be used to estimate heritability for sex limited traits like milk production.

Thank you very much. Could you please be so kiind to give us the bibliography that you used in the video, or about the topic?
For more details about this topic. You can get help from the following books:
1. Practical manual of genetic principles in Animal Breeding by Parekh et al.
2. Genetics of livestock improvement by John F. Lasely
3. Understanding animal breeding by Richard M. Bourdon
4. Textbook of animal breeding by WUR
@@AnimalSciences Very much appreciated for the response! Keep up the great work.
So what's the conclusion in written form?
The estimate of heritability (0.34) indicates that this trait is moderately heritable.
Great lecture
Thank You
In the case, that one dam gives more than one offspring, would the weight be the average?
Yes, it will be fine to take the average of all the offspring of a single dam.
