Yes, it charges even 8h. I use Power Bank with digital display of charging percentage. I note the start time of the brick charging and initial power level on power bank. Then when brick's charging LED lights green, I do note time of that event and power level of power bank (I use 10000mAh power bank and the full charge from discharged brick to 100% takes ~54% of power bank energy.
So we know that Li-ION batteries should be stored (when it is not used for long period) charged to 60% (less than 70%, and more than 30%) - so it will take 33% of my Power Bank energy something like 5h of charging. This is how you can count how long you should charge the brick for storage purpose. Then regularly check after each 3 months the level of charging - turn on the brick if its big button ring flashes orange it need to be charged (to know how long, in this situation I keep the brick on in mode where 6 LEDs next to peripherals slots are turned, and wait until the brick turns off by itself, and repeat it a few times so it turns off for about no more than a minute, then start charging procedure with my power bank until the brick eats 33% of my power bank).
The battery should be stored extracted from the control brick, also in cool conditions to elongate battery life. Switching it off during charge does not shorten the charging time a lot (when turned on it eats 3-4% more, than when it is turned off during charge.

Nice! Greetings from Paraguay, I am working with 9 boxes for an average of 15 students in a school. I have children from 8 years old to 13.5 months learning the didactics through trial and error. Is there a discord to talk about this?

Quite possibly... but I haven't looked into it.

I want to ask you a question. I bought the Lego 51515 set from Germany. My nephew, who will fly to Turkey from there, will bring the set with him. Lithium batteries are prohibited from being carried in the airplane luggage compartment. They will only allow him to bring the hub and lithium battery in his cabin baggage if he takes it with him in the original box. ? Have you or a relative ever had the experience of carrying a spike or robot inventor set battery on an airplane? What do you recommend we do?

Hi. I haven't tried taking my robots on a plane, but I understand. It's a bit unrealistic for people to carry old packaging! Surely if you put just the battery in hand luggage and showed them at the airport, explaining what it is, then it would be OK. But I guess there is the rick of confiscation. Is shipping the battery, in a parcel via post, an option?

    Hello,
Could you recomend a charging hub by now? I am searching for a 10-port.

I'd get one from eBay. The main thing is that each post has 5 volt output.

Is there any way of not having the hubs power up when charging starts? We have a cart with 8 charging cables and 8 holders for the hubs. Having to take them out to turn them off one by one (or even two at a time) is really annoying. Is there no setting for this somewhere? (Even if it only powered up then immediately powered down).

And we have 4 of those carts.
At the point of buying a USB 10000mahr powerbank for each box and plugging the hubs into those. The cabling currently is a bit of a nightmare. It'll mean that once a week or so, we'll take the powerbanks out and charge them separately.

@@saddle1940 Hi Stephen. I just updated all my hubs to SPIKE 3, and now they don't start up when you plug them in to charge. There are a couple of disadvantages to updating so be sure to watch this video I made which compares Spike 3 to Spike Legacy: th-cam.com/video/9YURo3VjwNo/w-d-xo.html
