I like how summoning just one person to their current location is basically the cutie map's way of saying "get your shit together"

Well I guess we can't call it the Cutie Map anymore.
Well, technically the map specifically gave Spike his own seat around the table so it isn't within the specs of the norm that he wouldn't be called eventually.....like it did in this episode.
Yeah to be honest I was upset that he did not get called before Starlight

The friendship between spike and thorax is much stronger than him between starlight. Why? Because, it was spike who made thorax to be the one he is today. When they first met, spike didn't scream and run away, calling him a monster like others would, or try to kill him. Instead he welcomed him as a friend, showing that not all monsters are evil. Then, he risked his hole reputation, his hole life to keep thorax a secret to the everyone else. Even gave him a sneak peak of what his life could of been as a normal pony. Now he was a little hesistant about standing up to him the first time he got caught but when he realized his mistake. He confronted everyone, his mentor twilight and even the princess of love, telling them that thorax is a friend, not a foe. Really standing up to him, like a true friend would. Without Spike, there wouldn't have been any, destroying chrysalis castle episode at all. On another note. Starlight didn't help thorax save the world, she more than anything did it to save her friends in need. Of course helping thorax reclaiming the throne is still always a bonus.
Also on a side note: When Ember crushed the muffin in the wall, it was a sex joke. "I'd Mush your muffin on the wall *Wink* Wink*". Even did the eyebrows afterwards lol

I was just as confused. This breaks all previous patterns.
"Let me guess: Spike is the friendship problem."

Well, that's pretty much like my dad. He is the hard-working, silent type. But one attempt to harm the family and you'd _wish_ he was a bear.

More kind of. Ember is more of a queen and Thorax is... a puppet ruler with this attitude.
"I... am... mad."
Well, that would be descriptive enough. The only thing missing is Why.
"But I feel like you should have known this."
Knowing is not important. Living by is. And there are plenty of adults, even very old people, who still have not incorporated this into their lives. However, Spike seemed to be the grounded one in the group (I heartily remind of Lessen Zero) so this lessen seems indeed directed at the wrong character.

"But I feel like you should have known this." - He wasn't the only who should have known that in this episode. Starlight and Twilight were helping him keep Thorax and Ember apart and they shared the opinion that those two would probably not get along, if I remember the episode correctly.

If you didn't get the muffin joke, Ember thought it was a friendship thing to decorate walls with your friends favorite food (10:15).
Also something I found cool is this writers impressive writing history, wrote 7 episodes of The Last Airbender (but worked on the entire shows run) and was one of the lead writers on Legend of Korra. Disappointed with the lack of Avatar references this episode lol.
