@@Stitchtoon hell yeah man, I’m really happy to hear that you made it through and you are certainly likely to be given a tentative job offer and then a final job offer. Congratulations I’ve heard it is a hidden gym within USPS and a great way to launch into other avenues within the maintenance sector of USPS.
@@menomisespeanut hopefully too! Im an RCA right now. Getting this job will be a big plus. And like you said, i ladder to a big income. Currently garage is at $25.96/hr $52k a year. Not bad for a FL cost of living for no education. Im sure DMV is much more higher cost of living.
I work for UPS. I’m a package handler. I’ve been working there for 4 years. I’m working on becoming a package car driver. It’s a very sought after position in the company.
@@joshuawick5382 so I have learned I am incredibly grateful that I was able to find a position available and that I was able to get so far as having a tentative job offer given to me I eventually turned it down and was fortunate enough to get another job with another federal agency. My reason for turning it down was because of the cost of living in the northern Virginia area because if it’s proximity to Washington DC, it is very expensive to live there and the farthest I would have to commute would have been an hour and for the pay it’s just not worth it, I think my annual salary was 42,000 a year? But it is a nice gateway job to get into in order to segue into the auto mechanics position.
Please keep us updated with any information of the job. Im a very experienced mechanic and have taken this test over 10 times and i cannot achieve more than a 80 lol. I have had 1 interview 1 hour from me and never ended up being the candidate for the position. I’m definitely very interested to hear more from you.
I ended up declining the tentative job offer. As much as I would have loved it, the location and the annual salary just wouldn’t have been enough. I think if I recall the salary was 40,000 a year and trying to live in the NOVA area requires you to make at least a minimum of 80,000 a year. It was just way too expensive and I did not want to have to deal with that kind of level of stress. Fortunately, though another door opened with another federal agency and I absolutely love it.
@menomisespeanut very basic stuff. I was in the army for a while, so of course, all of the PMCSing and before that, just changing the oil, tires, and stuff like that on personal vehicles.
@@creaturemonk you'll be fine. I have similar experience with my time in the Corps and poking around my own car. @menomisespeanut yeah, I'm not going to stress out about it. This was one of 2 positions I had seen on the usps job board for my town for the first time in months.
@@menomisespeanut so just a quick update. I ended up not passing the test. I just laughed because I had no idea what the fuck I was reading. I got a job offer for city carrier assistant though so all good.
Hey buddy did you end up taking the test? I also have applied for the garageman position and will have to take the same test, let me know what it was like if you got them done, thx.
How long after the exam you got a email? I applied for garage assistant under garagemen I got a 72 score but says under auto technician not eligible you think they will send me a email?
@@Moto_NB I think I got an email within two weeks of taking the exam and getting my immediate results. As for whether or not you will get an email I can’t say because you may be competing against veterans who are given an automatic 10 points increase to their score. So if a veteran is applying for the joband they get a 72 that 10 point bonus will bump them to an 82 and they will probably get the email before you do. But never say never in anything is possible. I’ve got my fingers crossed for you. I think it’ll be a good Segway into a career with USPS.
The interview was EASY. If you made it that far, you got the job. I would've loved the job but it was located in VA next to D.C. and the cost of living just wasn't sustainable for that area. I wouldn't have made it. I've got a job for another federal agency though. The dude basically went tentative offer position. How much I'd get paid, reiterated the duties and responsibilities and possible shift I might work and opened the floor for personal questions.
@@jayqwilyn1551 after the interview, the manager indicated that he would send a correspondence to HR to email a final offer to me. I think it was probably within 48 hours 72 hours at the max. So 2 to 3 days.
I’m not gonna get my hopes up but I have an interview with that exact role literally this month. I have also been separated from the service due to car issues which I tried to prevent but again not gonna get my hopes up.

Just passed at 74!!!!! Im so relieved. Thank you for your insight! IT WAS HARD 😭
