    The French language was discriminated for a long time in Canada, even in Quebec. So the Quebec Liberal Party, passed bill for Official Language Act in 1974, which abolished English as an official language and made French the only official language of Quebec. Quebec is ethnically different then rest of the canada, so they face racism around canada, and this is the reason why people of Quebec are so concerned about their language and culture.
    These English people have a long history of occupation & oppression, and they even do it with their own race. Canada is the modern example of it.

      They can do all of their official work in french, they can mainly speak french, in daily life, schools /colleges can be in french as well, But if they do like this "Not taking order, if giving in English", "Not entertaining customers", "behaving rudely just because the person doesn't know english after traveling thousands of miles to see the beauty of your culture, your land", then you're hurting your tourism and all the funds that will be coming in future and in the long term, this is going to hurt their culture. "", and specially to those who spending their hard-earned money just to experience your culture.

    The only language spoken in Quebec, Canada is French. The people there have been promoting French as their mother tongue. They have this fear or they believe that if they use even a little English language then the English language will dominate them. Because English language is prevalent all around them. In the above case it is all strict. Therefore, despite having knowledge of English, he still uses his mother tongue French. You should not take it otherwise. By the way, Quebec Canada is very beautiful.
    The second thing is that to get a job or to get PR in Quebec Canada, it is necessary to have knowledge of French language and those who have knowledge of French language and have studied, they also get jobs here and also get PR easily. goes.

    Quebec is a French-speaking province, and if you start a conversation with 'Bonjour,' people will often go out of their way to help you. What would you do if someone approached you speaking a language you're not comfortable with, and they're not comfortable with English? In India, for example, there are many languages, and it's often challenging to communicate as people may respond in their own language. Does that make them racist? It's important to grow up and learn to respect all languages. Remember, French is one of Canada's official languages, and it’s not a crime to speak it. Educate yourself.

    Bhai I know ki aap log dil ke saaf bande ho or aapka intent bura nahin raha hoga. Kuch nahin hai bas galatfahami hai. Samjhe nahin aap. I have lived in both Quebec City and Montreal in the last 5 years. People in both the cities are extremely nice, friendly and welcoming not just to me individually but to the larger Indian community as well. Montreal is bilingual to a great degree (on the island and around, west island is fully english) but trust me outside of Montreal you will find very few people who speak any English. Quebec is a big city and people can speak some broken English but it really helps to know some day to day French. I am learning French and everywhere in Quebec if I am struggling in French they would happily switch to English if they can. My advice is to learn at least this much - Desole. Je ne parle pas Francais. Vous parlez Anglais s'il vous plait (Sorry. I can not speak French. Do you speak English). I personally believe purely based on my experiences that language is a very small part of communication. Most of it is the attitude on both sides and the intent to communicate positively.

    There might be some racism but that is true everywhere. People in south India don't speak Hindi and use their native language more. Doesn't make them racist. Again everyone is entitled to their own opinion. :)

  • @nmlearnerforever
    @nmlearnerforever ปีที่แล้ว

    My humble opinion: The way Brits tormented the world earlier is something that should not be forgotten but at the same time the way English has propagated across the world can't also be denied. Should people try to uphold their cultures? ofcourse. Should they discriminate like this over language? No. If they try to be the way in the video, then other people will consider them very inclusive community and won't visit the place. Tourism is essential and even if you don't know english, just the act of trying to cooperate to help is in itself a feat that visitors will remember and promote to others.
    Folks who say that if you are going there for a short tourism (not stay there permanently) should learn the language to them I say, "Wisdom has been chasing you for years but you have been quicker on your feet" simply because learning a new language good enough (elementary) to talk to a native depends on the language which spans from 575 hours to high as 900 (on average) i.e you'd need to dedicate money to learn a language and dedicate around 2-3 hours daily for 5-6 months for a max 6 nights 7 days tour of a non-inclusive place. Following is a link I found that I am using as a basis. Imagine travelling across EU or India with so many diverse languages, if people were to be like Quebec then forget tourism for entire EU and India.
    Then also given the reputation quebec has, they will probably snark for not having a good pronunciation. They may not who knows?
    www.mondly.com/blog/how-many-hours-learn-language/
    Please do understand that folks wont dedicate money and time for a brief tourism because instead they can go to some other more inclusive place like France, mentioned in the video as even though France is a place where French originates, they atleast try to help if you don't know French, or get someone who knows english or at the very least smile and drop you a hint that they won't be able to hate you but they don't discriminate on basis of language.
