Anomidae: i dunno what this guy is talking about, interloper's never had any external effects on my game
Also anomidae: cant play portal because it puts him into a dark room and crashes the game

I like that the Anomidae character is this very scientifically minded skeptical person and this is presented as like, a scientific investigation (beyond the creepy music and vibes), as opposed to it being played as a straight up “ooohh it’s a scary source ghost”, it makes it more believable honestly, especially contrasted to the ouija board investigation of the Eida character

    • @technoturnovers7072
      @technoturnovers7072 ปีที่แล้ว +39

the thing is, the guy is claiming that the interloper has been effecting his OTHER games, presumably ones he hasn't been testing with- when Anomidae was fucking around in Portal and crashed, it *only* bricked his portal install, and probably would clear up on a reinstall

      To add -
Anomidae: I could only test 6 hours every year.
Also in Anomidae's universe: This guy generated demos over multiple days to investigate stuff.

@@christopherm4739in the last episode when the timer ended you could see in the chat that connection with a server was lost, which clearly explains why eida was able to generate demos multiple nights in a row: in 2011 the servers were up constantly, while 11 years later they only appear to be up for a day or so during November (presumably somebody is booting them up manually because they need them for something)

Every episode of this series dives further and further into ARG territory and only becomes more vast, fascinating, and terrifying. It's rare for a TH-cam horror series to get so truly under my skin but the intricate & immersive story and presentation (aided by the Source Engine's preexisting creepiness) are truly excellent. Fantastic work as with the last two videos - and I'm super excited to dive into the new ARG elements/other TH-cam channels.

The idea of a modern-day user researching old videos, having to go through archives, and slowly working on progressing their understanding built on previous attempts while also doing their own theorycrafting on said videos is such an interesting and fantastic tactic that I’m honestly surprised nobody thought of it doing something similar until now.
This is such a well-built and incredibly believable ARG with a fantastic plot so far that I wouldn’t be surprised if this became another of the “household ARGs” so to speak.

A huge thing to do would be starting to develop a script to auto-generate demos, and eventually map-specific demos. If he had a demo with absurdly large maps, the hammer software from Momentum Mod supports a vastly larger map size, compared to other source games. It will be well worth creating as much infrastructure as possible before November, so that a majority of the time can be put towards further testing and progression.

    2. Have you considered trying it on one of the source sdks I feel like with one of those it’d be easier to analyze what is going on in real time compared to analyzing it after the game has ruined it

What FS would mean in this case I don't know, but the broken skybox in fortress does imply it's False Sky instead.

I think you skimmed over a pretty important detail from eida’s investigation. “All you gotta do is connect to the IP and follow the steps in part one and two.” Now THAT is interesting. Since last episode I’ve had a theory that the demos might be somehow related to a server or something separate from your computer, though in what capacity i’m not sure. Perhaps the demos are being sent from this server, not generated by your computer. This is maybe a bit out there, but i do have some evidence. For one, the command uses the word pull, which is used when accessing or modifying repositories (github n shit). A separate server could also explain why the two type five demos seem to have so much missing now. That information is literally stored elsewhere. But I think the most damning evidence is the failed portal demo. At 6 o clock, when the demo goes all fucky, it says in the top left corner CONNECTION LOST. I mean come on.
If you do believe this server theory, there are two more questions we have to answer: is the server an FSKY server, and how is eida related to FSKY. Is the IP eida talks about his personal FSKY server, or is it just a FSKY server, or is it even FSKY at all? If it is his personal server, then it seems unlikely that we are accessing the same server as him, but if it’s just a server (FSKY or not) then it seems entirely possible that you and eida are both somehow accessing the same server. Anyway, thats just something ive been thinking about

The DM editor is also interesting, since the dmnpc things could be NPC's created in the DM editor, so if that is ever found then examining the data.bsp files in the editor could yield interesting results.

although im not a source expert, i think there may be a way to explore the map you are stuck in with portal RTX: -console, and autoexec's!
-console makes the game START with the console open, and autoexec's execute commands as soon as the game starts! so if maybe you could do
    "
    sv_cheats 1
    mat_fullbright 1
    noclip
    bind [letter you like] "+console"
    "
with either a autoexec or with the console open, you should be able to explore this prison you find yourself in!

When November 8th does come around and you can start pulling more demos, using a bot or algorithm might make the investigation much easier. It can drastically cut down on time by constantly inputting commands, while also doing so on multiple different games if your computer has the capacity for that, or if you can get multiple computers. It can also help with sorting through the demos. An algorithm could distinguish type 1 demos by tracking the camera’s and the POV models’ location, as well as the camera just wildly moving around aimlessly. For type 2s, it could track if the camera or player model is out of bounds, while type 3s 4s could be by whether or not the player actually move around. Type 5s might be the easiest to sort, given all of the weird stuff that goes on in the files of those videos.

Eida-Mona is the name, however, Mona is referenced in the zombie slayer video on the archive, could that mean Eida has something to do with Mona?
I assume since we also see in the description of the archive that Eida had a mental breakdown, could Mona have died or something? Maybe even from a consequence of the interloper investigation.
Also, has Anomidae tried adjusting the no-clip speed when trying to recreate the travel of the demo? There was a wind noise so I assume the camera was moving, extremely, extremely fast.

For some reason, this series has always gotten me to feel more anxious than most other ARGs that has come before it, I assume that it probably has something to do with the familiar environment and the scarily nostalgic feel of all of these videos, taking advantage of my nostalgia to really make an effective scare is honestly really effective whether or not it was intentional in the first place. Let's be honest, we've all had that one phase where we see videogames as planes with infinite possibilities with the age of Herobrine or Ben Drowned or even .exe to an extent.
