As I have commented on a number of occasions, when Amira walks on stage the stage is hers, she owns the stage as she holds the audiance captive,in the palms of her hands and enchants them with the beauty of her voice and song.Reguards from Michael Jonathan Lewis, Johannesburg,South Africa.
Amira was 12 when she sang this, the crowd was about 7000 I believe. She always tries to deliver 100%, and the orchestra and choirs are comfortable working with her, they know her commitment and her abilities, and have also done a few rehearsals. There was an interesting comment by a choir member for her Royal Albert Hall appearanc, at age 10. He'd seen this small girl at rehearsal and thought she was the child of one of the production team. He didn't realise it was one of the star vocalists, until he was bowled over by her. Can't remember which of her tracks you have reacted to. She sang Amazing Grace the following year, that's quite a big production. A really fascinating performance is Ave Maria Gomez in 2015 . It is quite stunning. She is still a wonderful singer, but since growing up, it's less jaw dropping to the eye. Just the ear.
Yes I agree with you and speaking about your last sentence: the older she will be, the more equally talented singers from her own age there will be around. That's the just natural way of things. As a child she was exceptional, from now on (Amira is 19 now) she is one of the many adult vocalists who has to work hard to get the attention "from the World".
@@JaapFilius Amira is already the most popular soprano of all time, with over 1 billion views. Amira sings the most beautiful songs ever composed, as well as the most difficult and demanding. Unlike pop singers, Amira's performances will last for decades. Her interview with Classical/Crossover Magazine a year ago is the most watched, ahead of Sarah Brightman. Amira's enduring success has one simple reason: she's the best of her generation. Amira is a living legend.
To put this into perspective - This was a concert run by Coleske Artists for the Afrikaans-speaking population of Pretoria / Johannesburg (South Africa), in about November 2016. There were 33 items in all; Amira's performance was the 25th on the program. She had made a big impression in June 2016, at the first of the "Classics is Groot" (Classics are great) concerts, also in the same hall (Moreleta Park Auditorium, seats about 7500). Coleske Artists had originally scheduled nine performances; however, when it was announced that Amira would be appearing, they had to increase that to 11 performances. Amira's parents had to bring a tutor with them from The Netherlands to ensure Amira did not fall behind on her schoolwork. If you watch closely, you will see that the bangle on her wrist disappears for a few seconds, then reappears - showing that this video was made from several perfomances; Coleske Artists put out a DVD of each of their concerts. The piece is by Ennio Morricone, as is the introduction ("The River"); he was a famous Italian writer of music for films, so it is not "opera". The following year, Amira's contract with SONY expired, and Coleske Artists snapped her up for a further three years - that being the longest duration of a contract with a minor in either The Netherlands or in South Africa.
12 years old here. My opinion she is a pro. From the DVDs of these shows it is a stage full of great performers. Especially Amira. Plus an outstanding show. Wish we had shows like this, in California.
Thank you so much for reacting to our beautiful princess Amira! By the way, Amira means "princess" in Arabic! Another reaction that would greatly complement this one (I think from the same performance) would be her rendition of "Your Love" (theme song from "Once Upon a Time in the West"). It is simply gorgeous! She was 13 here. "Classics is Groot" [Afrikaans for "Great"] is a music venue that is held from time to time in South Africa, which is where Amira, her Mom, and brother Fincent live.
Hi this is a yearly concert not a TV show or competition and isn't exclusively for Amira alone she as just part of the show over all ..... though obviously a main guest
Amira is AMAZING, however you ain,t heard nothing yet. Wanna hear another OUT OF THIS WORLD STUNNING PERFORMANCE, then listen to her Gesu Bambino version. Just Amira wearing her winter coat supported by her father on the organ at their home church. No preparation ,microfoon, autotune or any other technical support what so ever. It,s recorded with just one cellphone. I promise, you are not going to believe your ears. She,s so UNBELIEVABLE ,SO GOOD. Have fun, lots of it .
Oooo.... she knew she hit that last note perfectly: look at that smile! I can't help it to compare Amira Willighagen with Angelina Jordan and Lucy Thomas (I follow them all): three awesome vocal talents, in three different genres/stiles, with voices way's beyond their age. Especially Amira and Angelina do have an almost shockingly similar road to succes so far: Both did win a national talentshow (Amira won Holland Got Talent in 2013, Angelina won Norway Got Talent in 2014), both have performed on big stages in different countries as a child, both have grown up as normal kids: very protected for media and talent hunters (which I think will pay off for them). And, last but not least, both are gearing up their musical career in their own pace just now (in 2023).
The music was composed by Ennio Morricone for the film The Mission. Sarah Brightman thought it would make a great song and pleaded with him to allow her to use it. He flatly refused but she pestered him for months until he gave in. The words were composed by the Italian Chiara Ferrau and Sarah was the first to sing it. You might enjoy Amira singing Nessun Dorma (CIG 2017), or The Flower Duet, with Corlea Botha, at the same concert.
Hello María . Yes , here she is still a kid , 12 years old . Afrikaan is groot isnt a talent competition , with Classics is groot are mega concerts every year , of all the musical styles . With super productions , great orchestra , great chorus and the best talented singers of South Afrika, . In these context , Amira was invited to take part of the Classics is groot 2016 with 12 years old . Here she sang O mio babbino caro , O sole mio ( duet with Patrizio Buanne ) and Nella fantasia ( that isnt this version ) this is the version in Afrikaan is groot , also in 2016 . Amira sang in this concerts since 2016 until 2019 . In 2020 the covid made suspends all the events . Child Amira not only sang like an adult person , also she thinked like an adult person . At 7 years old Amira just thinked how to help to poor children of South Afrika for they have a place where they can play , and at 10 years old Amira created the fundation Gelukskinders , destiny to build playgrounds in poor zones of South Afrika . Amira is a trully angel without wings . a gift of God
This beautiful aria with music by Ennio Morricone from the film “The Mission,” and lyrics added by Chiara Ferraù is about an imaginary world of peace and harmony. I presume the implication is that this is the fantasy of the missionary which provokes enormous irony. The “mission” of the missionary is to persuade the indigenous people to abandon their cultural traditions and superstitions in favor of the missionary’s culture and superstitions. Europeans generally regarded indigenous peoples to be “savages” in need of “salvation.” So the fantasy is presumably about a world of European culture and superstition, rather than of any sort of diversity or inclusion. The first 2 minutes is another Ennio Morricone composition called "The River" with the voices of the Mzansi Youth Choir, then Amira comes on stage for Nella Fantasia.
HOW DO YOU TRAIN YOURSELF TO SOUND LIKE AN ANGEL - YOU HAVE TO BE SPECIALLY GIFTED BY GOD - IT IS NOT SOMETHING YOU CAN TRAIN YOURSELF IF YOU ARE NOT SPECIALLY GIFTED WITH ANGELIC TALENTS - THANK YOU FOR THIS REACTION and THANKS FOR YOUR GENUINE COMPLIMENTS - BOER BEN
Afrikaans is Groot translated into English simply means "Afrikaans (a language) is Great!" It is not a competition, merely a concert held at least annually in South Africa...
This concert was a massive production, and, yes, Amira was one of the headline acts, however there was plenty else going on in that concert that did NOT involve Amira... Just saying...
This wasn't a talent contest, its a very well organised concert, they weren't there just to support her, she sang one song only on her own, she was 12 years old. I don't know where you get your perception of a talent contest from, but you kept on discussing it as if this was till the end........
When Amira walks on stage, she reverses the roles: the child sings like an adult; the adults cry like children.
As I have commented on a number of occasions, when Amira walks on stage the stage is hers, she owns the stage as she holds the audiance captive,in the palms of her hands and enchants them with the beauty of her voice and song.Reguards from Michael Jonathan Lewis, Johannesburg,South Africa.

that final beautiful smile at the finish , is the "cherry on top" of a magnificent performance. may she forever keep her personna and glorious voice.

Nice reaction. I love this performance. Amira is so touching

OUR ANGEL AMIRA SANG QUITE A FEW THEME SONGS COMPOSED BY ENNIO MORRICONE - THIS WAS FROM THE FILM " THE MISSIONARY " !!

Beautiful amira the best
I think, and I may be wrong that the into and general background music reminds me of Enio Morricone’s The Mission soundtrack.
merci pour cette présentation SENSIBLE...

Actually, she was self-taught by watching and listening very carefully to TH-cam tutorials
This concert was a massive production, and, yes, Amira was one of the headline acts, however there was plenty else going on in that concert that did NOT involve Amira... Just saying...
You stopped the video at the exact wrong moment just when she was going to resolve the melody for the finish.
( GROOT = AFRIKAANS ) = ( GREAT = ENGLISH ) !!
