    Thanks! This topic is very popular on different musical forums, and It would be very useful to have a video with A/B comparison of Analog summing vs ITB summing. And reviewing different Analog summing mixers

    Analog just sounds better; there is no debate! You can push push analog digital gain gain and gain stage!

    I believe the SSL desks are transformerless. Also some other newer designs don't have transformers like possibly audient, somebody double-checked that

    i want a summing mixer. the luna neve summing extension is the best digital summing i feel. it helps when working in the box. i get what you mean about hearing things better. i def want an RND Orbit.

    It’s not running through 16 transformers, most if not all summing mixers only have two transformers on the main stereo out.

    Have you ever tried doing a null test on your analog summing mixer vs in the box summing. If so would you be willing to share those findings? I’m finding very little info of people doing this type of thing, and for those with limited budget and maybe a little FOMO, it would be nice to see what is ACTUALLY happening to the mix.

      I have done it. But I don’t have them printed. I run the signal summing path to an input on my monitor controller, and a straight stereo patch to another input and I A/B them on my monitor controller. And the summing won every time.

      dude watch dan worrell ruin the idea of summing mixers here on youtube. they are snake oil. some will add saturation so that can be cool. dangerous summing mixers are very clean though and theres videos showing you cant tell the difference between dangerous summing and summing in the box

    I don't want to be that guy, but have you seen what's inside Dangerous bus LT? There are no transformers in it at all. Basicaly it is the same as passing the stereo signal through any nice stereo analogue device.And clarity and that stuff will be even better if that stereo device would have a pair of good big transformers without any summing. Just summing alone doesn't make much to the sound except placebo.

    Summing boxes don't typically have input transformers on every channel. Your Dangerous box certainly doesn't. You're only getting color from one pair of output transformers....which means the "summing" part of it is useless.

    There is a big distinction to be made, "analog summing" does not make any difference, if its NOT things in the path like transformers, tubes etc. This means that really, what some people like its this color from the HW, not the summing. Straight analog wire summing does nothing to the audio except what the extra conversion trip would contribute to. If you like the sound of a transformer etc you would only need a left and right version of it, not 16 mono channels of it, although the difference in tolerance from the units might make a difference, it would also be the case with just the left and right transformer in this case.

    do you need a summing mixer even if you have mixing hardware ? cause i still see other mixing engineers with hardware that having summing n there studio

    • @fadygergis
      @fadygergis  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeh they are different. I mix through a lot of hardware gear but I still use summing mixer.

    I have an X6 and X4. I like them but I am also reviewing the Neumann MT48. I think I could use AES67 to expand I/O but I think that would defeat the purpose because conversion happens in whatever the other device I'm connecting my summing box to. Thinking of getting the Neve Orbit summing but I can't really afford to get that plus external I/0. I can get 12 outputs between both of my Apollos so I would only need to buy the Neve summing box. Is that worth it with Apollo conversion? Or should I focus on getting an external converter first?

    • @fadygergis
      @fadygergis  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It would definitely be worth it. Summing 12 channels is still much better than zero

    Transoformers in every Channel? Not in the Dangerous one - in the LT there is not even one at all.
