  • I have been very busy yet again. I Converted the Budgie flight into a small aviary for some of the Gouldian finches and installed the new large cages.

    Stunning Lady Goulds. Started breeding them a couple of years ago here and think it will be a passion for life here ❤

    Beautiful birds. I love the Gouldians. When are you moving the Grays to their outside aviary?

      When the weather picks up again and I have some spair time (most likely end of July). Its too cold at the moment (temps down to 10c at night). If it wasn't for work then it would be next week but I doubt it.

    Very nice. Please tell me, can birds from the same clutch, breed with each other when they are old enough (i.e.brothers and sisters) or how do you keep yours separated? I didn't notice leg bands (they might be there, but I didn't see them). I love finches. I started with 3 zebras an older man didn't want anymore....2 females and a male. prolific little breeders! I ended up with 24 and ... stupid me.....I sold them all to a breeder (including the flight cage!)for 40 stinkin' dollars! I should have at least kept the flight cage as they are so hard to come by! Anyway, years later I now have 2 finches that just had babies. They are about 4-6 days old. They are good parents. The breed has just escaped me.....darn it. not zebras, not gouldians......one is all white with red beak, the other is brown/grey with an orange beak with black tears in outside corner of eyes.....i'm looking at them as I'm describing. Darn, I can't think of their name! Ugh!!!! I also have adopted 3 red factor canaries. :)

    Are those real or fake plants? I'm getting two pair of gold breasted waxbills from a breeder and I'm in the process of setting up a very large flight cage. I have swings, nest boxes for them to sleep in, and food and gravel. I want them to be happy and I want to provide anything that makes them content. I like those plants and I just was wondering if they were real. Thanks

      fake :) but I use real planted bamboo in my aviaries too which is awesome.

    If I may make a suggestion, is that some of the perches be of thicker wood say up to 20mm. This gives the feet better exercise gripping different sizes like in nature. Especially important for finches and Canaries.
    Can you get other sorts of Neophema parrots where you live or do you only like Bourke parrots. Turquoise and Scarlet Chested are also great birds for mixed avairies. But don't put them all together as can cross breed and ruin the lines of birds.

      I'm quite limited here in the south east of England. It took me years to find gouldian finches that were affordable. I will be focusing on them from now on I think.

      Buggar... I suppose I am lucky being in Australia. All the birds you have are local birds flying in the wild in the different local of Australia that they live and breed.
      Hence gouldian finch come from up the very north of australia. They love the warmth but have no fine under coating of feathers. They hate the cold, so curious how they are in you freezing weather?

    Why do most of these and other bird videos NOT have some one explaining what is going on and how,why we do what we do
    VERY boring other wise

    • @tiki_riot
      @tiki_riot 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Terry Brown because most people are here to observe the beauty of these birds & not have someone yacking all over it.

      tiki riot Thanks tiki riot for your reply .I all so love watching the birds but I would all like to know how people look after their birds,how they pair them etc.THATS one reason I watch these videos 👎👎

    • @tiki_riot
      @tiki_riot 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Terry Brown I’m sure there are channels that do that, this channel doesn’t.
      It’s unfair to say it’s boring when you’re wanting something it doesn’t provide.
