There are too many cars and motor bikes in races. There may be a need for some of them, but pretty much most of the accidents in recent years come down to excessive traffic in races.
Having watches the "Tour de fjords" come through Stavanger earlier in the summer I was absolutely shocked at the poor standard of the team drivers. Constant high speeds, in close proximity to riders, and not their own team riders, flying through bends like they were fully trained and experienced rally drivers.
