    I’ve watched this video a few times now, inspires me and cracks me up at the same time. So fricking honest. I’ll be there in two weeks, with a half Ironman the weekend before. I’ll be replaying this video in my head as I run this course. Thank you for putting this out there.

    Really enjoyed this video. Excellent job having race footage with the narrative. Definitely was drawn into how the race was going down from your perspective. Congrats on this journey Chris! Not only did you train for it, endure some struggles, and compete in the event....but you hit your goal of the Sub 2:40:00, AND YOU WON THE MARATHON!!! Also, your age group was competitive.

    This is not Celeste. Great video! Thanks for the invite to this great race. We are on a similiar track I suppose, as I did my best half in June, and now a 2:56 at this race, a 25 minute improvement over my last marathon 5 months ago, and a 10 minute PR. I had done that 3:06, 29 years ago in Honolulu. Dude I was coming for you! A couple more miles and I would've made you cry! LOL
    Aloha

    Hey, watching this video now. I just did the marathon last week. And made a TH-cam video. I saw your video after I had posted mine. What I want to say is I was shocked that we had chosen the same music for the beginning of the race (your instrumental one). What are the chances!

    What type of shoes are the best for this marathon? I just noticed it's not quite a road race.. Any recommendations?

    • @cicirunner
      @cicirunner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Trail or road shoes will work. Just pick something light that you feel nimble in. Only the beginning is rocky so you can get by on pretty much any kind of shoe, except for Nike Vaporfly. You will probably roll your ankle in those.

    I'm super happy for you man!! Great way to overcome the few small setbacks that were there and to not let them stop you from what you set out to do! I was looking forward to seeing the results and even tried to look them up online with no success, glad I couldn't find them and had to wait a few days, and seeing it this morning was even better since my day already started out with some other good news, let it keep rolling in! You mention that you were going to take Imodium AD before the race, did that help or not? I'm not too familiar with it myself so I'm just curious, and I'm still very curious about the bladder's ability to reabsorb urine back into the body and the advantages of that with distance running so these things interest me a lot. Also the results look like you and the 2nd place guy were neck and neck at the end, is that how it went down and how much of a battle was it to stave him off at the very end? Great job, and glad I followed your training the past months.

    • @cicirunner
      @cicirunner  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I swear the dude never closed the gap at the end. The results at this point are still unofficial but I feel like they're wrong lol. I definitely beat him by a good 35-40 seconds. I took Immodium before the race and I've never had issues like this in a marathon so was surprised. I might need to rethink my fueling strategy moving forward. I was jacked up for like 5 hours after the race. Think it was a combination of the sweetners in my gels plus the hard intense effort.

    hi, thanks for video , excelent! What kind of shoes do you recommend for tunnel marathon? weight 65 kilos neutral tread

    • @cicirunner
      @cicirunner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. I think a lot of shoes are suitable. The first quarter mile or so is the rockiest part but it's pretty short so should not really factor into your decision. It's a rail trail so it's pretty evenly graded. There are some parts that are uneven but you don't necessarily need trail shoes. I remember reading about people concerned about rocks getting into their shoes but that never happened to me. Nike Vaporflies would be kind of dumb but most other shoes would work fine. The downhill is gradual so it doesn't feel like you're pounding your knees or anything. Just wear whatever is comfortable on your long runs. Above all, have fun and enjoy the beautiful course. If you are adequately trained and pace yourself, then you have a good chance to PR.

    • @cicirunner
      @cicirunner  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Silent except for around mile 18. We were running side by side and at this point I was running with nothing (tossed my bottle at mile 15). He pulled out a pack of shot blocks and then held them out in my direction. I grabbed one, said "Thanks a lot," and gave him back the pack. I talked with second and third a lot after the race and they were really nice guys. The only other talking I did was at the very end asking my girlfriend how much farther it was till the end haha. Keep me posted on your next marathon adventure. I know you have it in you.
