    As a licensed stylist, I would not recommend flipping the tool backwards at the roots as applying air plus heat against the grain on the hair cuticle repeatedly will eventually lead to frizz and breakage, especially to the baby hairs at the hairline.

      I will say, even with a regular straightener, I have a hard time getting the back of my head without flipping the tool lol so I'm curious if you have any tips for us girls with super curly roots!

    I am a person who is into hair care. I bought this because I want an easy hair care routine with minimal damage. I was able to style my chin length hair with no issues. Others I tried that were similar the plates were too big. This styler is strictly for straight styles. Since getting this I am selling two quality blow dryers ( I still have the flex style) and the GHD glide which is a nice tool but too hot for my hair . The results of the Airstrait on your hair looks great. Although it is expensive it is worth it to have great results without damaging your hair.

    • @Hamster-jello
      @Hamster-jello ปีที่แล้ว +8

      if you want my 2 cents i’ve used both the dyson airwrap and the revlon, the revlon is great for baddies on a budget but i will say the heat control is pretty bad. even on low heat the ceramic wand gets really hot and after a while my hair was sooooo dead. So if you style your hair every once in a while i would say it’s a great option but if you do it 1-2x a week like i do, over time it’s going to absolutely murder the integrity and health of your hair. After switching to dyson tools my hair has so much more shine, more softness, and a lot less frizz!

    • @miagrace802
      @miagrace802 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Hamster-jello Thank you! The Revlon blow dry brush gets very hot, so does the hot air curling iron style (didn't like that one myself, could never get a good curl, they just wouldn't form for me with it)-so it's not surprising the Revlon Air Straight (hot air blow drying flat iron style) gets hot too.
      I'm using (from the Blowout Professor's recommendation, I don't think Julissa liked it as well for her curlier hair type) the Amika paddle brush dryer with heat the Double Agent one.
      It does a good job (but my hair is fine but coarse, frizzy and wavy) but it gets really, really hot. Like a flat iron hot, where if you get too close to your scalp you know it pretty quickly and feel almost burned.
      I'm hoping to eventually try the Dyson Airstraight.

    • @Muziklova
      @Muziklova ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@miagrace802 I had the Amika Double Agent. I didn’t like it because it pulled my hair. Revlon is the innovator with the blow dryer brush but it’s way too hot. Yes the Dyson Airstrait is expensive. To me it takes the place of a blow dryer and a flat iron. In my opinion if you want your hair straight with minimal damage this is the way to go. One complaint that people are saying is Dyson doesn’t give you a case. They want $130.00 for it!! I’ll pass on that.

    It's probably shut down because it's using a lot of heat and the motor, in order to protect itself from overheating, has to shut down to cool off. That's actually a nice fail safe. The Dyson Airwrap is a completely different tool. Different than Air Strait and from Shark Flexstyle. The Airwrap has the amazing smoothing brushes that do not pull on your hair and yet using the coanda effect, give you a smooth blowout. The Dyson round bristle brush is only meant to give you a small curl at the ends, or on your bangs or front fringe. That's why Julissa finds it too small. It is not meant to blow out your entire head of hair. That's what the Airwrap smoothing brushes do. They smooth and straighten and can add a bit of bend to the ends. The Shark flexstyle is similar to the Revlon One Step with the oval dual bristle brushes. These are way too rough on my aging hair and pull too much out. The curling barrels are the only similarity between Shark and Dyson Airwrap. Everything else about these two systems is completely different. As an older woman, I cannot wear my hair stick straight. And my roots need help with direction. That's where the Airwrap smoothing brushes do their magic. The Air Strait would not be able to help me with that. I love the Air Wrap for my somewhat wavy, thinning, 60 plus year old hair. It gives me volume and bounce with no damage. Nothing comes close.

    • @Kubulek17
      @Kubulek17 ปีที่แล้ว

      as much as I love the airwrap the smoothing brushes just don't give enough tension to get it smooth. I only ever use them before straightening or curling with an iron

    Now kind of wishing I hadn't gotten the new Airwrap for Christmas. I still use the old one anyway so it was somewhat of a waste. If I'd known this was coming, I'd have waited. Now I'm like "Hmm...how am I gonna convince my (typical male) fiance that my daughter and I NEED this tool also (in addition to the two Airwraps, the Supersonic, and the Corrale, plus about 50 other tools, which he knows we have)???" 🤔

    I’m on the fence right now, my kids (my husband helped) got me the Dyson airwrap for Mother’s Day and I agree is taking me forever to do my hair. I’m more into the blowout look and maybe a little of a wave at the ends and sometimes I want my frizzy roots to stay straight. My husband says I should return the airwrap and maybe get this one but I don’t know if I just need to get over the learning curve with the airwrap. Why are these things so dang expensive 😂😂 I wish I could have both

    • @miagrace802
      @miagrace802 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I like my Shark FlexStyle better than my Airwrap (have all the original attachments, not the new ones). It dries faster, curls easier and the brushes (round, oval, square) are a lot better on the Shark Flex Style. They now have 2 curling barrel sizes vs just 1. I'd replace my Shark but likely not my Dyson. You could return the Airwrap and get a Shark to replace it.

    • @magpie9838
      @magpie9838 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Get this one and you can curl the ends with a traditional straightener and then you are only applying heat to the ends plus it will still be faster altogether.

    • @miagrace802
      @miagrace802 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@magpie9838 Good idea! Or something to curl the ends like the Amika Blow Out Babe brush (hot with fibery bristles, no hot air) (they may be hard to get now, mine was the older convertable one with 3 brushes). Or a hot curling brush without air (some with air curl too, but not as well).
      Personally I'm to clumsy and my hair not long enough (shoulder length) to curl with a flat iron, my ends look bent, weird or fried when I try. I can't seem to flat iron curl either.

      @Mony Delgado To me comes first - style my hair with less possible damage.
      I suggest you to get the Airstrait because you will get more performance tool value without damage your hair in the long term and eventually when you feel like to give that curling touch you can use any other regular curling tool.

    It took me a long time to do my hair with the Dyson airstait, (3 c coarse hair). It did NOT leave it as I get it with the flat iron. So I had to retouch with the flat iron. I’ll try it again. I would say it’s definitely better than blow drying tools but not perfect. You still have to retouch either the ends (because they come out really straight and you can’t bend) or to straighten the hair. Its best fir wavy or thin curly hair. How long did it take you?

  • @missstraw-hatawesome1898
    @missstraw-hatawesome1898 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried mine for the first time on Saturday and I’m not so sure I love it 😢
    I feel like it took me twice as long to style than what I normally take, but that might be just my lack of “technique” since most of these things really do require some kind of expertise that you acquire with practice. Then again I’ve never been skilled at using a blow drier to straighten hair, so it might be that.
    The first day my hair felt sleek but very staticky 😂 but the second and third day it looks fantastic AND weirdly, using a hair tie has not left any broken shape on my hair, like, the sleek style has lasted 3 days now… with traditional flat iron my hair got weird and deformed on the second day, I hope you all get what I mean.
    Oh I have so much to say about it I should make my own video 😂

  • @JuliePrichard
    @JuliePrichard ปีที่แล้ว

    I appreciate your review! Tell me...The airwrap was a bust for my hair type.. My hair reverts almost immediately. If you don't lock it your style with an iron following this...how does it do in the humidity?

    Thanks so much! Is it powerful enough like an ordinary Dyson dryer? In case there are only 5 mins to dry hair, not separating it in sections? Thinking of buying an ordinary Dyson dryer, but if this one has the same power, I'd definitely buy it.

    I feel that you are biased in this video. But if you are happy with the results, great! However, the Conair Knot tool with round brush and the version with a pad give awesome results with much less money spent. In my opinion, your hair is too straight, like a lot of strands glued together and the movement of the hair is strange. With a bit of volume, and with ends that are not like broom strands, your hair would look more alive and moving nicely, more stylized. And also, the fact that this tool is new and randomly turned off/reset is a huge red flag. Would I risk $500? Maybe not. This is just my opinion, I respect if it works for you.
