  • The award-winning poet Carol Ann Duffy gave a poetry readying at Emory University on February 21, 2015. Duffy is the first woman and first openly gay poet to be named Britain’s Poet Laureate and a crucial figure in world poetry today. She is an award-winning Scottish poet who writes with power, beauty, humor and grace about love, death, and women’s lives. Duffy’s literary papers are housed at the Manuscript, Archives, & Rare Book Library at Emory. MARBL acquired Duffy’s archives in 1999, with a recent set of additions; the newly processed collection is now open and available for research.

    I read World's Wife back to back twice in a row. Duffy is my heroine. She is the greatest living poet and I aspire to write like her.

    More on youth games. I cannot get passed the first quarter of Thomas Hardy. :)) It is dense.

      Lewis S it’s because her poems are part of the curriculum in UK High Schools - we are required to learn around 5 of her poems. including being able to quote any line from any of her poems during our final exam. (It’s extremely stressful and it’s really tainted her name, but it’s mostly just a joke)

      @@kylebeattie2339 15 poems, they are given to you in the exam but they are an enigma which cannot be deciphered in 45 minutes if you haven’t read any in depth analysis on the extremely ambiguous implicit meanings of each word she uses

    Such a fine poet, I think great. bitchy comments show the great ignorance of those who make such, Yes not the greatest reader, but Robert Graves was much worse. Peter L. Dollins.
