The Night Shift is about soul stars who have died too young and gone to heaven. The words are about missing these men and how much they meant to them. It is sad, but also uplifting in a gospel way - they make me want to praise the Lord.
All that needs me to react is to just read TwinsthenewTrend, Commodores - Nightshift and I start sobbing. Musicians of the present and future time can make all the sad songs they want, but nothing will compare to this song. I think if a lot more people sat down and really listened, they can turn their lives around for the better.

I grew up in the 80s, this song was so iconic. I really miss my parents, when this song came out both was alive and the future was bright. Now my parents are gone, my life is ok but songs from the 80s take me to my youth. Enjoy your parents and family because life can take them from you. So Cherish every moment, go fishing with your Dad, visit Mom. Enjoy these moments because they will go away.
