Agree, It's such a strange trend that people do not believe the fact but just follow their emotion, people become fool when they are in internect, the fact is such a good team create a video recording current China, may be it's a introduction or advertisement for their native country, but it still good, because they record many videos, cut and combine in a unique show way, unfortunately, most of people watching this video just want to show their emotion explorsion, they just want to say something or event is right or wrong, and expect you agree with them, who care some guys recording china, a team make a good video? May be that people are right, they work tied every day, a long long time, they need entertainment....

China has always been awesome and great since day 1. This is why they never bothered to explore outside of China. Their world is perfect. It was so awesome and great that many foreigners wanted to come in and take over China.
Many wars were fought because of this.
Also, the great wall of China was built to keep foreigners out.
China is only talked badly in the West because we're scared we're going to lose our women to the Chinese.

@My Point Exactly Hong Kongers civilized? My ass. The rudest Chinese I've met were Hong Kongers. They take on a snobby attitude derived from having been subjects of British colonization. I despise them -- and I am not even a mainlander.

My wife and I were there a few months ago and to be honest....I didn't think I was going to care for it. I fell in love with Beijing! I will say be careful with the taxi's and do your homework so you can move around easier, but you can navigate the city pretty well on your own. Every place has huge positives and negatives and Beijing is no different. But, if you like to feel absolutely removed from what you know in the west and explore with all your senses, this is a great place. Always enjoy what you all do and hope people take advantage of the 144 hour visa free entry!

I really appreciate their hard work and the quality & attitude they showed in the videos. They didn't get influenced by the stereotype images from western media, instead, they keep an open mind. They don't stereotype China, but wait for China to present herself to themselves along the journey. See for themselves, put in efforts to understand the culture and experience it joyfully. That is actually the key for enjoying your life living abroad. Hope you guys enjoy your life in China every single day.

There is a difference between being popular and being an authority on a subject and I think that line is being crossed in this video. What both Jordan and Poppy do very well in most of their videos is document their impressions of places. However, this video gives a false impression of a lifestyle they do not have in a city they do not live in. Trust me, being on vacation in a place and living there are two very different things. I hope in the future more thought will be made to authenticity than to using these popular women's TH-cam ranking to further promote other ventures.
I say this with respect and admiration for what both Jordan and Poppy do on this medium, their videos are impressive and needed, especially for a place like China where far too much bad news versus good news is shared about the place.

    • @CareerChina
      @CareerChina  7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

Thank you Stephanie for your input and we appreciate your perspective on the subject.
You are correct that living in a city for an extended period of time can give people a different perspective. However, the purpose of this video was to highlight the first impressions of a new expat coming to Beijing, and to dispel some of the misconceptions of living here.
Over the years, we have discovered many of our new teachers who arrive in Beijing are shocked at just how different it is from their expectations. Further, many of them end up staying in Beijing for years because they actually come to enjoy the lifestyle and variety, compared to other cities in China.
Jordan and Poppy experienced the city just as other new-comer expats would. They visited the touristy sites (as any newbie would) as well as the local neighborhoods. They also explored the expat areas, shopping, dining, hanging out and talking with other expats who live in Beijing. Their impressions of the city are genuine. They expressed many times how Beijing was nothing like they thought, and that they really could see themselves living in Beijing one day.
That was simply our goal - to show our new teachers why they may enjoy living in Beijing, and how it is different than what they may already think.
If you have any additional tips and advice for expats coming to live in Beijing from your experience, feel free to add them to the conversation so all can benefit. Thanks!

From www.chinaguidedtour.com The Great Wall of China is a series of stone and earthen fortifications in northern China , built originally to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire against intrusions by various nomadic groups such as the Xiongnu from the north and rebuilt and maintained between the 5th century BC and the 16th century.

William Chao It's not total propaganda. It looks like things are better there now. I was there in February this year and the pollution was pretty bad. Some of the People we met and talked to while we were there said they do not have many "blue sky days". That was winter. I am sure summer is better without temperature inversions. I also know the government was working on it. I would agree with Jordan and Poppy on the rest of the positives. It feels safe and secure. Lots of great sightseeing. People are friendly and inquisitive. My family and I met many great people. We enjoyed talking to them. I have been to Beijing twice in the last three years and despite the pollution this last time it is a nice place to visit. I will definitely be going back. Hopefully next time we go we will know more Mandarin. 🙂
