griffin in taz: our capacity for love increases with each person we cross paths with throughout our lives and with each moment we spend with those people. but too often we neglect that part of ourselves in favor of others, and by the time we realize just how important it is, we find ourselves with fewer folks around to practice with. griffin in mbmbam: look at all your blood. it’s on the GROUND, where the DIRT LIVES
ok but imagine this, this character holds their nose, and stops breathing, fills their cheeks with air and the knives all pop out at the same time and u can hear an almost caricature-like “Plop!”
hercules jr removes all 5 blades easily because the pain of 5 blades being removed is nothing compared to the pain he felt discovering that evil hercules is his father. he prepares to use his mighty jumping legs to kame ha me ha ha his father into a different timeline when he blacks out due to blood loss. the lesson here kids is that 5 knives keeps the blood in the body. seek medical attention.
These descriptions remind me of the game grumps moment in i think a nancy drew mysteries game and the npc cowboy guy was talking about his gun and shooting something in the woods, and then he just goes "and then i fired, and i missed, i fired again and i missed again, i fired and then i missed, this went on for several hours, i fired again, and i missed-" just over and over escalating it 😂😂😂
ok I’m not a professional writer BUT if you want some Actual Advice with this question: show not tell is VERY important when writing pain, because while you can imagine senses (touch, taste, smell) and feelings (fear, happiness, grief) you can’t really imagine pain. Think of when you get hurt in a dream-you know you’re hurt but you can’t physically FEEL the pain So use other factors! instead of just talking about the white hot agony spreading like fire around a gunshot wound, talk about the blood loss, the dizziness, the way their legs start to give out and their breathing picks up. and while you CAN talk about pain in terms of pain alone, I find it MUCH more effective to include outside sources as well. it gives the reader a MUCH more vivid image of what your character is going thru!
You know you're a little sensitive to blood when even hilarious animations seems a little too graphic. I apparently didn't need Griffin's fourth knife or the sucking wounds.
Fraser Connell your animations are amazing! I should have probably known that this specific one wasn't for me, although it was still hilarious - as long as you don't start doing too many from Sawbones I'm good 😅
haha thank you! but dont worry about being grossed out i totally get it :p i think i'll leave sawbones, that makes me squirm a little bit even without visuals hahaha
i’m just surprised they immediately went to aliens and then some kind of deity when they got the “he’s not human” thing rather than some supernatural entity like a vampire
If you wanna be badass, use your mighty melt powers to heat up the blades and cauterize the wounds. "Ow, fuck, this was maybe a terrible idea" and then pull them out "but the blood is still inside"
Would you consider doing an animation of the “¿Donde Esta Los Thunderlizards?” moment? It’s honestly one of the greatest moments of this entire podcast, and I’d love to see an animation take on it.
I would love to read a novel that was well reviewed and won the hearts of millions only for it to turn out to have five chapters of pulling out knives and the protagonist in agony the entire time
This sort of reminds me of a scene I wrote in high school where a wizard used some sort of blood magic to enter the scene via a person painfully ripping themselves to pieces with their bare hands like in poltergeist
remember though, if you ever get stabbed, dont pull the weapon out or itll just bleed more than it already has. the best course of action is leaving it in until surgery, in which trained professionals will remove it without encouraging more bleeding.
zebulor stated how long and thick the knives were embarrassment all over his face he touched the the tip of one handle shocked by how big it was he then tugged on it a little moaning a little bit at the filling he tugged on it inch by inch pleasure rushing thru his body at every pull ones it was completely out he was surprised at how much blood was on it he started on the rest in till they were all out he didn’t know if he was lite headed because of all the pleasure or blood loss and he didn’t care
Great video! I love your animations. Also... I know it's pretentious and stupid and absolutely not the point of the bit but I never have bouts of creativity like this and I have to get it out of my system, so (warning for gore): A stabbing pain knifed through him, and he grasped at his chest, feeling for whatever was causing the pain. The pressure only made the agony worse, and he dropped his hands. He staggered away from his enemy, muttering curses, and collapsed behind a tree. Raising a shaking hand to his chest once again, he took a deep breath and looked down. Black spots appeared in his vision as his breath came faster and faster. Five knives stuck out of his chest. Blood soaked his shirt and hands. He had to get them out, out, _out_ oh god there were _knives_ and he could _hear_ a blade _scraping_ against bone with each breath and it would make it _worse_ but god he had to get them _out_-- Unsteady, he wrapped a sticky hand around the hilt of one of the knives, a low whimper escaping him before he could stifle it. He tightened his grip and yanked. A ragged shout burst from him, his voice cracking. His flesh made a sick squelching noise, and he could see the layers of skin and fat where the blade had parted them before they were saturated by the blood welling up in the wound. He grit his teeth against the pain, body curling inward, breath leaving him in a sharp hiss. ...aaand I ran out of creative steam. I didn't make the guy an alien, though, oops. I think I understand what the person was asking now: how do you describe five similar events in succession without repeating yourself when you can't skip over them because they're too important? Also, sorry for the puns in the first sentence.
Kara Hill I mean the only way I can see writing a scene like this without making it tedious would be if you focused on the removal of the first blade, then wrote something like this ““______ paused for a moment to catch his breath. Then grimaced as he gripped the second knife. “One down” he whispered to himself “four more to go”” And then cut to a scene focused on something happening somewhere else. I understand that the author of the original question was probably insinuating that the character probably has a healing factor, but it’s not an excuse to make the audience sit through torture porn for an entire chapter
I’m way less impressed with protagonist pulling the five blades out of his body, and far more impressed with the villain who was able to successfully stab someone with a shaving razor.
3:59 potential self harm trigger for anyone who would like to know.
oh my gosh thank you
Thank u
Thanks
Out of genuine curiosity, how is that a potential trigger?
Woebegone Kenobi it just looks quite similar to a lot of incidents of self injury, I think
griffin in taz: our capacity for love increases with each person we cross paths with throughout our lives and with each moment we spend with those people. but too often we neglect that part of ourselves in favor of others, and by the time we realize just how important it is, we find ourselves with fewer folks around to practice with.
griffin in mbmbam: look at all your blood. it’s on the GROUND, where the DIRT LIVES
He's somewhere between a poet and the dancing old man from the six flag commercials
Jack Reynolds he is, somehow, both
You're right, the second is much more profound.
Griffin Mcelroy, bestselling author: “It hurt a great deal, even for Hercules Jr., who can’t be hurt, so it didn’t.”
Sound of blood gushing outward: *schlorp*
Sound of blood gushing back in: *schlorp?*
*confused wound noises*
Prolhcs?
"Now your blood is on the ground, where the dirt lives" is a very powerful sentence
Please remember that Griffin Mcelroy, author of Hercules Jr., is also is the man who piloted all of TAZ. Truly the Shakespeare of our time.
It wouldn’t take much to convince me that they’re actually two different people
Just balance and amnesty, tho
Caduceus!! Our amazing tea loving cow man!! Awesome profile pic 🐮☕️
I hadn't finished the video when is aw your comment and I was furiously googling Hercules Jr.
Man why does TAZ suck so much Hercules Jr. Had so much potential
Jk Taz is great
*_looks like you brought five knives to a GOD FIGHT_*
ok but imagine this, this character holds their nose, and stops breathing, fills their cheeks with air and the knives all pop out at the same time and u can hear an almost caricature-like “Plop!”
and then you hear a loud whistling noise through the holes
hercules jr removes all 5 blades easily because the pain of 5 blades being removed is nothing compared to the pain he felt discovering that evil hercules is his father. he prepares to use his mighty jumping legs to kame ha me ha ha his father into a different timeline when he blacks out due to blood loss. the lesson here kids is that 5 knives keeps the blood in the body. seek medical attention.
Look at all your blood! It's on the ground, where the dirt lives!
I got all my blood back, now I'm strong for fighting!
-Hercules, Jr.
@WungusBill no dirt. only blood
Travis' first pass at it sounds like a children's book for an alien warrior race
Five knives, burgers and guys.
I love that this implies that the original restaurant was Five Guys Burgers and Knives
Five knives, murderin' guys.
justins first take is basically me trying to give myself my testosterone shot every week
I relate especially to the end of chapter 1 and the start of chapter 2
S C H L O R P
I usually listen with headphones in, but I watched this on my phone without, and I could feel the schlorp-related vibrations in my hand 😂
"hercules jr" is choice because a hero's spilled blood re-absorbing back into the body sounds like it came straight from a greek myth
Travis won
Travis is most underrated brother.
It rarely happens but yea he killed it this time
They don't laugh at a lot of Travis's jokes and it makes me sad :/
Mr WaffleMan I AGREE
you know, if you get impaled youre supposed to leave the thing in so all your blood doesnt spill out
Keaton unless you’re able to suck the blood back in like Hercules junior
that way it doesn't go on the ground where the dirt lives
justin's rendition is the true birthplace of duck newton, not taking constructive criticism
That fake audiobook image was very choice
These descriptions remind me of the game grumps moment in i think a nancy drew mysteries game and the npc cowboy guy was talking about his gun and shooting something in the woods, and then he just goes "and then i fired, and i missed, i fired again and i missed again, i fired and then i missed, this went on for several hours, i fired again, and i missed-" just over and over escalating it 😂😂😂
I don't know how you get these out so fast but I'm here for it.
SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK!!
these boys are like an animator’s dream istg they just. say things and i love them so much
Losing my shit at "Look at all your blood! It's on the ground, where the dirt lives!" at 4am
4:21 *8 FOOT VERTICAL LEAP*
These are getting progressively better and better
I genuinely got a subscription to skill share this week to learn how to use after effects properly for this hahaha
I was so hoping you would animate this bit, this is so good. I love your Zebular 👾
Haha thanks 😊 he's a good alien boy
I woke up very hungover this morning and this video was playing. I must have passed out watching your videos on autoplay haha it was nice.
ok I’m not a professional writer BUT if you want some Actual Advice with this question:

Your animations are SO freaking good and detailed!!! I love this!
Thank you 🙈I try really hard hahaha
You know you're a little sensitive to blood when even hilarious animations seems a little too graphic. I apparently didn't need Griffin's fourth knife or the sucking wounds.
Yeah sorry D: i didn't realise quite how gross it would be
Though to be fair the five mouths are pretty terrifying.
We salute your courage
I get so pumped whenever I get a YT new video notification from you, and this one continues to not disappoint
😄😄 thank you!!
YESSSS, I'm so pleased you animated this bit! Thumbs up before I've even finished it, I was so excited
Thank you!! :D I'm so glad you enjoyed it :)
I keep coming back to rewatch this one; instant classic!
I fired and i missed, and i fired twice, and i missed both times.
i’m just surprised they immediately went to aliens and then some kind of deity when they got the “he’s not human” thing rather than some supernatural entity like a vampire
I knew you would do this one! *great job*
as soon as i heard this bit i was hoping you would animate it!! good job
Thanks!! :D
Clearly they should have left the blades in to avoid bleeding out
If you wanna be badass, use your mighty melt powers to heat up the blades and cauterize the wounds. "Ow, fuck, this was maybe a terrible idea" and then pull them out "but the blood is still inside"
“And that’s how I got hepatitis”
Would you consider doing an animation of the “¿Donde Esta Los Thunderlizards?” moment? It’s honestly one of the greatest moments of this entire podcast, and I’d love to see an animation take on it.
Yeah sure I'll have a listen to it and have a try :D
i think i actually almost asphyxiated myself listening to this bit. no air was going back in
I knew when I heard this first that someone was gonna animate it lol. This is amazing
These men are professional authors
This is probably my favorite Mbmbam animation. I love it so much!!!
I would love to read a novel that was well reviewed and won the hearts of millions only for it to turn out to have five chapters of pulling out knives and the protagonist in agony the entire time
i know theyre just red shapes but the wounds opening up really freakes me out
Omg thanks I absolutely love this bit
the blood sucking back up thing honestly sounds like it could be a thing in greek mythology. just gotta word it right
Watching this at work was the worst mistake I've ever made ohmy god help
I like to imagine that this is how their writing process actually goes
Travis, comedic mastermind
Travis's was the best
“And then he fell in love” makes me laugh every time
i luaghed my ass off when i listened to this but the animation made it SO much better, well done!
I've been waiting since the podcast came out for this.
God JR. Is a nightmare
This sort of reminds me of a scene I wrote in high school where a wizard used some sort of blood magic to enter the scene via a person painfully ripping themselves to pieces with their bare hands like in poltergeist
schlorp
As he pulled out yhe second blade he collapsed to the ground light headed from blood loss and then he DIED BECAUSE THE KNIVES ARE SLOWING THE BLEEDING
The aliens at area 51, getting caught in the crossfire between the rock throwers and the guards, circa September 20th, 2019
remember though, if you ever get stabbed, dont pull the weapon out or itll just bleed more than it already has. the best course of action is leaving it in until surgery, in which trained professionals will remove it without encouraging more bleeding.
zebulor stated how long and thick the knives were embarrassment all over his face he touched the the tip of one handle shocked by how big it was he then tugged on it a little moaning a little bit at the filling he tugged on it inch by inch pleasure rushing thru his body at every pull ones it was completely out he was surprised at how much blood was on it he started on the rest in till they were all out he didn’t know if he was lite headed because of all the pleasure or blood loss and he didn’t care
Fun fact: The blood going back in when injured is how immortality works in Baccano, though it's less sucking & more "magically the body rewinds".
I love a good good Travis goof.
*_G R E C H I N W E I N E R S??????_*
Why has no one started the trend of calling these MBMBaMAs? As in, My Brother My Brother and Me Animations?
mbmbanimations
muh-bim-bammers
I looked so long for this YA but couldn't find it :'(
You brought 5 knives to a god fight...lol
Great video! I love your animations. Also...

Great job 👋👋 and great video for a hilarious bit thanks for continually making awesome videos of those sweet boys good good goofs
So many blades
so many
ALL YOUR BLOOD IS ON THE FLOOR WHERE THE DIRT LIVES
OH i was looking for this one
I was so hoping you'd do this one
Why can I imagine Justin's bit as a scene from deadpool or something
Love it!!!! Can you do the downton abbey fancy hot dogs bit??
Oooh I'll try!
I thought I watched 403. Clearly I didn't because I don't remember this grade-A bit that apparently happened so now I've gotta watch it
yowza
Does anyone know if this book got made and this scene was put in, I think that'd be pretty cool.
Somehow I first read that as "five bladders"
3:41 literally a Jojo’s bizarre adventure fight
Someone contact the Chilluminati Podcast, we found the source of the schlorp
My favorite was Travis’s story
Nothing personell, kid.
What do you make your animations with?
I made my first bunch of videos with iMovie, then I moved on to using premiere pro, and now I use premiere and after effects :)
Fraser Connell thanks man, keep up the quality content!
As someone who has been stabbed watching this was a fight between passing out from laughter and trying to turn off this video out of empathy
junior should be jr, not jnr
Cloud King He probably would have fixed that if he had a backspace
Yeah it was intentional I promise!
God this is so gross and so funny
Ladies and gentlemen, the creators of TAZ.
I’m way less impressed with protagonist pulling the five blades out of his body, and far more impressed with the villain who was able to successfully stab someone with a shaving razor.
this is fuckin great
*SHLOOOORP*
Gretchen wiener?!?! Mean girls
Wait... Gretchen Weiners, of Mean Girls fame?
Please do Don D'antoni from episode 398.
Jojo vs Dio, Egypt, 1989 (colorized)
in a BOOK
keep them in
Hella!!
Does anyone have any recommendations for pathetic yet funny writing like this bit?
ah...fuck
