I'm also preparing for upsc with botany optional. I was searching guidance for botany since a long period of time but I just didn't find it anywhere. People are telling about books in quora but I'm not sure about that. Those books are very different from which I studied in my graduation. Here in Delhi coachings like evolution ias are there but after spending lakhs of money in GS coachings, spending again in optional coaching is not s good Idea for me. Also I can't afford it now. I really need some quality guidance because I'm writing my exam in CSE 2019.
Pragya, the thing with science textbooks is that the content is almost the same, only the style changes. Cover every topic in the syllabus and you will be fine. But most texts I have mentioned are available in most college libraries.

@@pragyagupta8278 there is still plenty of time for 2019 attempt. Use it wisely, prepare a road map to complete syllabus (optional plus prelims), set targets and achieve them. Go about topicwise instead of looking at the whole syllabus. Best of luck!

@@footfooday5128 Botany honours and botany major are exactly the same thing. And UPSC only requires you to be graduate to sit in any of their exams.
