Just hang in there, (not literally, call someone if you ever need to talk to someone FYI) but for real I hear you 100% now in mid-Sept2020 and I’m either super excited for November or super depressed for November. I think we all NEED TO VOTE THIS ELECTION, **Everyone**! Sorry but that’s not how business works. He was signed a deal for those seasons only , they couldn’t predict the massive success of his character they had no idea as well they had no idea the show would even last that long... and after u make a contract u make a contract and follow it and his ended there in that season. And re making a contract is a fuck ton of money so don’t blame the creators thank you.
@@GUILLEN4714 I'm don't blame the creators. I'm Agreed with you with something, no one could ever imagine that the Michael Scott's character was going to have such an impact. But, not so long ago it was released a book and it mention that Steve talked to the NBC people to still playing Michael Scott at least a couple of seasons. And I quote:
“He didn’t want to leave the show. He had told the network that he was going to sign for another couple of years. He was willing to and his agent was willing to. But for some reason, they didn’t contact him. I don’t know if it was a game of chicken or what… He planned on staying on the show. He told his manager and his manager contacted them and said he’s willing to sign another contract for a couple years. So all of that was willing and ready and, on their side, honest. And the deadline came for when they were supposed to give him an offer and it passed and they didn’t make him an offer. So his agent was like, ‘Well, I guess they don’t want to renew you for some reason.’ Which was insane to me. And to him, I think.”
And by season 7 everyone knew the success of the character.
Sadly, it was Steve's decision to leave.
Steve was the one that wanted to leave. He said he wanted to spend more time with his family

i know people hate the first half of season 8 pre florida and the last 2 eps of season 7 but to me the rest of the office is perfect...and even those eps are fun to get a new dynamic and character povs...the office was bigger than michael scott and they proved it..looking back i feel if the show just had not introduced the girl assistant val her bf the senator deangelo cathy gabe nellie robert plop and dwight jr. as regulars and more as 1-2 episode side characters the series would still be beloved cause it would of focused on everyone we still cared about and feel like the same show without mike...those new people kinda ruined the dynamic.....you did not need all these other characters to drive it forward...andy was basically mike scott 2.0 an the show was fine without him...to me i liked how darryl erin andy got bigger roles as the show progressed same for creed and oscar and kevin even packer...thats fine...heck gabe was mostly funny at least...i think the thing that people hated about robert and that era is it felt like a new show with new people left and right as kelly and ryan left and they had replaced mike with a character who was not really needed cause andy was the manager and james spader was not always able to shoot so they limited his role anyways even more so making him kinda useless..like if he was a david wallace type who we rarely saw and mostly outside of the office he could of worked as a character to bridge the gap but the issue was they forced him into this big role and it made everyone else being more extreme to replace losing mike's comedy stand out as a different show from season 2 for example....it felt like they wanted to make ed helms the lead due to his star power for ratings post steve carrell but felt his character could not lead alone due to how he was written for years which is fair but then why put yourself in this situation?..of course andy needs a boss to look over him cause otherwise no one would take him seriously...they tried but you can not rewrite a character so much so that he feels like a new person..theres always going to be andy in there so no matter what that can't be your lead...or clear manager...it just is insanity to think they could get away with that without pissing off well built up characters like darryl jim dwight and michael fans who want one of them to be manager not this nobody
This was from 2013 and I’m watching it in 2021 😭 Can time stand still? ): if it was for me, The Office could’ve made 100 seasons and I would watch & rewatch all of them!

Scranton my heart... there’s something so perfect about this show having taken place in such a beautiful, wonderful, simple town in PA.

Carell is such a comedy king. He’s the perfect kind of comedy because he knows he’s strong af but you can tell even with accolades galore he still creatively seeking and yearning while simultaneously thriving. I love Gervais and I love the OG 2000 The Office UK and David Brent. But Steve Carell and the writers and other actors on the show really did a number I the character of Michael Scott. Not only giving him like x9 times as many episodes in the US version which fleshes out the characters and their arcs in a way that I really wish UK shows of all sort get deeper into rather than the 12 episodes total and then done. I know it’s not the case across the board there but anyway I digress. You can just tell the level of power and comedy craft that Carell commands. Surely this was the finale’ celebrations IN Scranton after it wrapped and was to forever shift the direction of TV and the legacy of the Office lives on forever. Listen to Baumgartners The Oral History of The Office on Spotify it’s amazing, everyone is on it. And then of course you add the Billie Eilish “my strange addiction” factor in which audio segments of the show are interspersed with the music and brilliant frames the song as if the office is her strange addiction. But in fact the writing is so good that the strange addiction can be whatever the listening audiences chooses or interprets it to be as is with music and subjective artistic crafts like songwriting. But adding the cool factor and the sort of I’d argue revival of reaffirming the love that we all share for this wonderful show which thanks to the podcast, I think I just finished my 8th or 9th watch through. It’s been a few years since I watched it but you imagine how much of Netflix’s viewership is based on the rewatching of medicinal comedy and heartwarming comfort shows like The Office with characters like Dwight and The nard dog and Jim and Pam and Angels and Meredith and Creed and Stanley and Ryan and Kelly and Daryl and Jan and Tobey and Erin and Phyllis and Oscar and Kevin and of course Michael -F***in’- Scott!
