I got a kit from amazon a year ago and it grew great and was able to get 3 harvests from it. I also had growth from the filter straight out of the box, but the underside was white. When I saw the brown stuff in your filter, I got a bit concerned. Maybe your packaging was bad? Also, best to cut the plastic where you see the most mycelium growth.
🤔Do you think the mold could have been introduced when incorrect cuts were made in the sawdust? I'd like to see another go at this. Even more so, there is supposed to be a DIY method involving used coffee grounds as the substrate. 👀
Oooo thats a good point- definitely should have sterilized the blade. Not sure if hitting the sawdust specifically was an issue, but we should have sterilized the blade first!
