- Shadow justice secretary Shabana Mahmood says the Met have "not covered themselves in glory" after an antisemitism campaigner was called "openly Jewish" by an officer and threatened with arrest for trying to cross a pro- Palestinian march.
She says, however, that she doesn't agree with calls for the Metropolitan Police chief to resign.

she won't criticize the met commissioner because Sadiq supports him.
And rishi and starmer clearly support this behaviour too.
They were very vocal against "islamaphobia"
So the Chief of the Met resigns because an ordinary copper said something that was inappropriate - and it was.
And yet we had a Home Office Minister describing the marches as ‘hate marches’.
Ordinary copper. One of the most senior politicians in the country.
Meanwhile the loose cannon went to Israel to stir things up! She should be sacked not allowed to resign.
Surprise surprise this Labour spokesperson doesn't think the Met Chief should resign...if this would have been an EDL rally and a police officer told a Muslim the same thing this person would be screaming at the top of lungs for the Met Chief to resign
Well she is sn arab, so I don’t think she think antisemitism is a problem to take seriously. Besides doesn’t labour have a history of members being antisemitic? I mean others than Corbyn…
I don't think he should resign over this.
@@EG-gq1fn she's Indian, and condemned a police officer for stopping this agent provocateur from causing a breach of the peace.
No senior police officer ever resigned over the Rotherham scandal. Are the hurt feelings of a particular group worse than what happened there?
Nope and both should of resigned.. Same as the police officer who had a go at a gospel singer
Labour defending mayor and met chief failures is more concerning 😢
Not a failure at all
He was implementing the police policy towards Jewish people.
He was "just following orders"
Well she would say that.
He was just upset because the protesters were making it difficult for him claim the street for a settlement.
If anything it looks like Palestine is setting it's flags and rules everywhere, seems like they are the settlers here
Labour defending Met chief is deeply concerning.
Labour is dead. Starmer has built a 1990s conservative party. The overton window is firmly entrenched to the Right. The Tories are a hard right extremist group masquerading as a right wing party. Labour are a right of center conservative group masquerading as a left of center party. All vestiges of Left wing ideologies have been expelled from the party. As a long term Labour supporter and living in the Red Wall, I cant vote for them, and will be supporting the independant Jamie Driscoll, along with every traditional Labour voter I know.
It shows us what will happen to the country if people vote labour
Everywhere will be like London is today
@@hannacook859 Project Fear
Knock it off. This is a particular group making it about them and taking the genocide in Gaza off the news.
The Tory MP gave the same response 😂😂😂😂
Labour and especially Angela Raynor are the first to go after Conservatives, including the Prime Minister's wife... she can't have it both ways.
The behaviour of the Tories has been bloody disgraceful since Brexit. Grow up.
How is this not 1938 territory?
it is.
In 1938, Nzi Germany had passed multiple ant-jw laws. Today, they are debating in Parliament making any criticism of Isrl illegal.
Nothing like 1938.
Genocide Supporters!
Labour needs to be banned, the party is not fit for purpose!
Yet no mention of William Wragg and Mark Menzies? 😂
This is absurd. If he was a Spurs fan walking into a large group of Arsenal support, the police would have acted the same way and stopped him to safeguard him. The officer just used clumsy language.
True if he had just said "openly Zionist" it wouldn't be racist ...
Bang on. Mountain out of a mole hill... The reason the policeman responded was that it was obviously provocation. I think it's a shame that even the spokespeople have to endlessly apologise for things that would not even register with other groups of people. There's even jewish people in the Israel protests for heaven's sake!
Bang on - Bear in mind Jewish people regularly attend and march in these protests.
The man in question here went to the protest with a cameraman and a team of bodyguards, in an attempt to purposefully disrupt and antagonise the event.
The officer's language was clumsy and wrong - no doubt, but let's not pretend that this man just "happened to stumble" across the march. He went there in bad faith, fishing for a story.
@@destrohades2094 Jews who know their place are tolerated at these hate marches.
Yes it is. Why wasn't the st george's day on tv yes its the 23rd but they were in London doing the parade and not on TV ?
Any law abiding person should be safe to travel around in London. Those protestors are dodgy.
They are fully supported by the Met police, the chief of the Met, the mayor of London, sunak and starmer.
None of them have lifted a finger to stop it, or said a word against it.
why is she allowed to quote Hamas figures unchallenged? She doesn't appear to be able to offer a balanced view.
Becaise everyone accepts the numbers. Even Isrl has accepted their previous conflicts.
Number confirmed by the UN and World Health Organisation. Or are they Hamas too?
@@Mogwai786 everyone doesn't accept them. and even if they did, is that a reason to blindly believe a terrorist group?
Why can't she quote her own people?
@@kriskalpa We don't have any reason to disbelieve the figures - they're the best we've got.
No one was trying to offend, he could have better phrased perhaps it as “recognizably Jewish” , officer was trying to keep public order and protect people, in the same way as keeping two teams football supporters apart, No one says keeping football supporters wearing teams colors apart is restricting freedom of movement.
Just like removing Rosa Parks from the bus was "for her own good" and arresting her for disturbing the peace made sense.
Same issue exactly, just a different minority
@@hannacook859False comparison, Rosa’s place on the bus did not put in her in danger, so clearly racist, however this was not the case in London
“ ..free to go about their business on the streets of our country…” means different things to different cultures obviously.
London labour see racism everywhere, apart from on its own doorstep!
Rosa parks was provocative by being in a place she could be attacked.
And she had the same agenda of exposing racism, police corruption and fighting for equal rights.
Everything said by the met about Gideon Falter was said at her time about her.
don't throw the officer under the bus. it's the protests that are the issue, the commissioner and the mayor.
Whey should he resign.the Officer was doing his duty of stopping a man from causing civil unrest & obviously out to start trouble .See the latest Sky report on this .
Sir Mark Rowley should resign and if he fails to do so, he should be sacked. It isn't due to just one incident, but a series of them. The culture he presides over at the Met is his responsibility. I am concerned about our right to free speech in a free country.
Sack Rowley a nd Twist and vote Khan out May 2nd!
Vote Reform UK 🇬🇧
The met police should be commended and given a raise for protecting this sooks attempt to provoke the obvious
1938 + 1984 = 2024
Vote labour, get Britain all looking like London looks today.
If we remove London from the UK's economy then the rest of the country is poorer than Mississippi, so I fail to see the threat.
