With that technology on the yak do you consider dropping a big plastic to the bottom to bounce around under the bust ups? It's a popular option in lake Macquarie and Port stephens, many a Pb flathead, snapper and jewfish has been caught like this....adds another layer to the excitement having the heavy rod scream off whilst panicked about the sambo or tailor just hooked on the light gear. Great content mate 👍
Yes its a great comment you make, I have often caught big snapper when chasing schools of salmon. I believe the snapper come in to feed on the salmon whilst the salmon are rounding up all the bait fish. During this session I saw a few massive arches holding under the bait and one of the blokes on the boat swears he saw a king fish rounding them up. So in hindsight throwing out a 7 or 9 inch plastic may have been worth a shot.
Hi Alan fantastic footage I got onto a school of Salmon when I went to Merimbula this year in June the size I got where 57 cm massive fish 🐟 very strong fighters in NSW the salmon limit is 5 . Was this footage of Altona ? Cheers Phil
Hey Alan! Just wanted to shout out I saw your presentation on stage yesterday at the boat show! You did an absolute awesome job mate, best part of the show! Thanks for taking the time to come out and chat about the kyacks and fishing! Always learning something new! Cheers, steve!😊👍
Thank you so much for the massive complement, and for supporting the stage presentation. It was a really strange setup there outdoors yesterday very different to the usual stuff. But i'm really glad you enjoyed it.
Huge schools around ATM! My heart is pounding with excitement I was out today on a school for 45min an because I could see them I made it more intense same thing fish a cast so unbelievable, fishing cures my depression! I really appreciate this video for that fact that I was able to relive my experience through your video catching these beautiful arripus trutta. Sick fun
That's awesome Zach, well done on catching them yourself and I really appreciate the kind words. I agree 100% fishing can be so much fun and great for mental health. I also watch lots of fishing programs and get excited reliving those experiences.
Yep it sure has been a tough couple of months fishing, the water temp is rising and only a matter of weeks now before its consistently fishing really well. Bring on the snapper !!
Nothing as a stella. Used the Fj for 20 years since I was 8yrs until it broke. I bought myself a new C3000 FK as my own Christmas gift for trout, pike and atlantic salmon. Can't wait to unpack it at in a couple of days and test it on the waters.
I lost my usual berkely collapsible telescopic net a few weeks back at Albert Park, shattered as it was a great one. The one I have know is a berkley one, its got a 50cm handle length which i feel is a about 20cm to short even though its perfectly fine.
Just ordered a snowfinch can't wait to try it out, what are your thoughts on it? Great video you got into so many salmon, they're great fun on light gear.
Hey Alan,,,,,, I've got a question for you on your trolling motor pwm speed controller do you have a PWC cut off switch like on the jet ski if you fall off ,,,,,,so the ,,,,,trolling motor stops if the tethered Lanyard is pulled
Wow Alan that fight was an epic one. Who knows it was a king fish???I'm sorry that you lost that big fish. That's the reason why I go fishing a bit heavy say using a 8 pound braid and 10 pound leader, just in case......😉😉😁🤗👋👋💪💪🤙🤙
Thanks Mario, Yeah i agree 100%. Ive been fishing a tad heavier since i dropped that fish. That day there was an avalanche of small pinkies so went ultra light but that's the risk when the big one comes through.
Can I ask, whether using a kayak v land based fishing would increase my catch rate. I'm a bit anti fish finders but would like to know if I would up my catch rates which are pretty near zero at the moment. Cheers...love your channel.
There ok mate. Make great fish cakes. Ok crumbed. Good sized fillets. There are a lot better fish so that's why they are not really targeted except for sport.
Really depends on who you ask. Many will say they are wonderful to eat if bled quickly and cooked properly. I tend to use them for snapper and gummy shark bait.
The NSW limit is 5! So fish in Victoria, register your caravan there as it’s $80 there, $500+ in the ACT, but you can keep your crappy speed enforcement limits 😂
Thanks yeah it was a crazy good session. I run 2 FPV batteries, one 50 a/ph dedicated to the trolling motor and one 12 a/ph dedicated to the sounder. My sessions on the water can be anywhere from 3 hours to 8 hours and im yet to run out of power yet. I never troll lures and have the motor on all the time so couldn't say for sure the total run time on the trolling battery if it was running the whole time.
Yes 100% ive had mixed results with it. Last month i caught a nice 5 kilo snapper using A large strip of snook which is very similar, but I have found more consistent catches with some of the other strip baits
we are from the other side of the bay from the south eats. we have seeen this place in many videos. were is the best place to launch here, to fish this area? thanks
I bought the motor directly from Offgrid Direct they have been kind enough to provide FishingMad followers with 20% discount using this weblink only offgriddirect.com.au/?token=VM3NL otherwise you can get them directly through FPV or AWS in Geelong. The motor and battery has been awesome, i cover a lot more distance and no longer buggered when i get of the water. Hope that helps.
LOL... I love it mate. I had to sell a heap of gear and a few limbs to afford it. But must admit I love it. Ill reach out to ya in 10 years when I'm ready to upgrade.
LOL yeah now that I think about it LOL. I think i prob more should have said the salmon are moving around so much, mind you that was really because the guys in the boats kept rolling through the school and spooking them
"This is a big one, its a good one, its a nice fish!" Words to live by.
Yeah, LOL I hope I don't get too reputative. Only so much you can say at times when your catching cast after cast. ill need some new catch lines

You summed it up perfectly in the end , that's what its all about.
Thanks... Glad you enjoyed it

It's definitely different to your normal amazing utube vids, seeing you on the stage and not in a kayak! Looking forward to your next upload mate!😊
Awesome video! Old mate in the blue kayak must have been spewing poor bloke couldn’t snag one 😂😂
I dont think he has any thumbs
Huge schools around ATM!

This is what it's all about. Awesome stuff Alan!
Thanks Andrew !!
Absolute madness😂🎣🐟fishing has been so hard lately can’t wait for summer!
Yep it sure has been a tough couple of months fishing, the water temp is rising and only a matter of weeks now before its consistently fishing really well. Bring on the snapper !!
Great video Alan! Love getting into some salmon, good fun to catch
Thanks Jared, yeah this one was a lot of fun.

That was a cracking session! Loved that.
Thanks David !!
Fantastic session!! The bloke in the white boat……how many times did he drive through the school 🤦♀️
Awesome reel! I have a vanguish & it is amazing! Are in salt, fresh or brackish waters?
awesome session allan !!!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Angelo
Awesome session. What model landing net do you use Alan? Is it the Berkley Kayak net 50cm handle?
I lost my usual berkely collapsible telescopic net a few weeks back at Albert Park, shattered as it was a great one. The one I have know is a berkley one, its got a 50cm handle length which i feel is a about 20cm to short even though its perfectly fine.

There awesome rods, they really are. Did you get the new 23 model ??
@@fishingmad not the 2023 just the 2019 on sale, 2023 look good too but I don't want to spend that much 🤣
@@fishingmad I prefer the look of the original design
Yeah plus the prices of the older models at the moment are to good to pass up.
@@fishingmad 100%!
Where is this corio bay?
Hey Alan,,,,,, I've got a question for you on your trolling motor pwm speed controller do you have a PWC cut off switch like on the jet ski if you fall off ,,,,,,so the ,,,,,trolling motor stops if the tethered Lanyard is pulled
Yep 100% i also have fitted a magnetic kill switch which I tie to my leg, even though its slow if I fall off the motor will cut off straight away.
Alan can ask how set up the kill switch please ,,,,so I can do it with my I don't know how to though OOP'S
yep I've got the message loud and clear,,,,,,,you don't want to help me out ha,,,,, remember what goes around comes around dude

good day Alan ! nice video , wondering where is a good place to buy a kayak in VIC ?? thanks ~~
I bought my kayak from AWS ( Action Water Spots ) in Geelong. They have been really helpful to me over the years.
@@fishingmadthanks alot mate !
That would be great bait for the big reds!
1000% and big gummies too
Can I ask, whether using a kayak v land based fishing would increase my catch rate. I'm a bit anti fish finders but would like to know if I would up my catch rates which are pretty near zero at the moment. Cheers...love your channel.
Yes Kayak makes a massive difference as you can fish much deeper waters and cover a lot more ground
Thanks for the reply.
How do Australian salmon taste? Are they normally just used for bait??
There ok mate. Make great fish cakes. Ok crumbed. Good sized fillets. There are a lot better fish so that's why they are not really targeted except for sport.
name it aussie salmon or cocky salmons but not a "salmon" family more like mackerel tastes and habits.
Really depends on who you ask. Many will say they are wonderful to eat if bled quickly and cooked properly. I tend to use them for snapper and gummy shark bait.
Good fun alright, our salmon are double the size in NZ ......known as Kahawai
Yes I'm very envious of the amazing Kahawai fishing over in NZ. Id love to travel up there soon and spend a few weeks fishing.
When I caught Kahwai in Auckland, they looked more like what we call Tailor in Aus.
The NSW limit is 5! So fish in Victoria, register your caravan there as it’s $80 there, $500+ in the ACT, but you can keep your crappy speed enforcement limits 😂
Cracka session, be interesting to hear about how the battery setup stood up to the task this trip. ~Tight Lines

Allan have you ever tried Barracuda for snapper bait
Yes 100% ive had mixed results with it. Last month i caught a nice 5 kilo snapper using A large strip of snook which is very similar, but I have found more consistent catches with some of the other strip baits
So jealous, amazing video
Thanks James, I really appreciate it. yeah i love it when the salmon are on thats for sure
we are from the other side of the bay from the south eats. we have seeen this place in many videos. were is the best place to launch here, to fish this area? thanks
Does this 2022 stella have a problem with tangles and wind knots?
Nope its brilliant, with line management and wind knots. The infinity loop stuff they have on the reel is next level.
Do salmon freeze well for snapper/gummy bait?
Yes they sure do. Put them on ice straight away. Then when you get home either separate in bags and freeze or cryovac them which works great.
Can I know where u buy yr motor, I also have a paddle kayak and plan to buy motor install at center
I bought the motor directly from Offgrid Direct they have been kind enough to provide FishingMad followers with 20% discount using this weblink only offgriddirect.com.au/?token=VM3NL otherwise you can get them directly through FPV or AWS in Geelong. @@fishingmad thanks for advice
Молодец. Классная рыбалка. Как сам побывал😊
What motor set-up are you using?
I run 2 FPV batteries, one 50 a/ph dedicated to the trolling motor and one 12 a/ph dedicated to the sounder.
stella 2022 is a good reel 👍👍👍
Hey big spender! 🤣
If you wanna sell that Stella then you know who to call hahaha. Awesome session mate 👌
LOL... I love it mate. I had to sell a heap of gear and a few limbs to afford it. But must admit I love it. Ill reach out to ya in 10 years when I'm ready to upgrade.
What was the location? And was this on Tuesday?
Salmon = The most fun you can ever have in a kayak.
1000% agreed, I always have a rod ready just incase
Between spring and summer?? It's the middle of spring.. BTW, this shit sounds too much like a TV for mine.
Greedy cocky salmons. when I clean them most of the time guts are full of baitfish and they still trying to swallow hole lures.
Good work!
Yep it's amazing how much bait they will eat. I too have been surprised cleaning them in the past.
yes yes....ctach plenty...nice aussie boy...yes yes..clean lake..yes yes no snow..hahahah...yes she cook...happy girl....big drinks for your...yes yes....vodka
Thanks Mikhail 👍
"They're making us work really hard." Really? Isn't it an electric motor? Haha I'll swap with ya? 😂😂
LOL yeah now that I think about it LOL. I think i prob more should have said the salmon are moving around so much, mind you that was really because the guys in the boats kept rolling through the school and spooking them
Allan you cannot use a Shimano reel on a Daiwa rod that is total blasturmy
Agreed 1000% I actually went out and bough a new Shimano T Curve prem for this exact reason last week LOL
Hey Alan can I please have a play with Stella to,,,,,, LOL LOL HA HA HA,,,,,
First… haven’t watched it yet but I know it will be a cracker!
Thanks !! Enjoy the vid. This ones pretty epic.
Yarrambat’s been poached. Not a fish in sight. Catching covid before I catch a chook in there
Hi Alan does your wife know that you are going out fishing with Stella ,,,,LOL LOL LOL,,,,,HA HA HA
My wifes name is Stella, so she finds it really amusing.
