- I am still in denial with this episode. Not gonna lie, after some time processing, Dean deserved better. So did Cas. Anyone want to rewatch the whole series with me from the very beginning to distract from this finale?
Again, thank you to everyone who watched this and had to see me ugly cry in the end. SPN Family Forever and Always Keep Fighting!

Super sad ending. But the right ending. They can rest, and be with their friends and family. The reason that Dean was stabbed instead of the vampire is because Jack is a hands-off God. Chuck gave Dean and Sam plot armor for his story so they couldn't be hurt. That's what they went over earlier in the season with that luck episode.
Yeah, I understand and agree. I just wished that if Dean were to go, it would be “Butch and Sundance style” like he has always said, not stabbed by a nail. I also think for the story he didn’t have to die here, but that’s just my opinion. Either way, I enjoyed the ride and sad to see it end
Sending love from one SPN family member to another. ❤
I actually loved the episode for the most part (minus issues of expense and effects of Covid on filming). This episode gives both characters what they want out of life, but still keeps a bit of the grounded bitter sweet nature of the show.
Dean dies doing what he loves, Saving People, Hunting things and doing it with his family. And he gets to die first. That is really all Dean wants out of life. Doing the good fight, doing something he loves, doing it with Sam, and knowing Sam is ok.
Sam gets pretty much everything he wants out of life. He got to by with his brother to the end, and yet still get to have his family life that he has always wanted. He didn't have to choose one or the other.
Dean has always known he would die young, die a hunter. Sam never wanted that for this life. He's grown that he knows he can't ignore that aspect of the world, but gets to have both.
If both lived long full lives, how do both characters get that ending. Sam wouldn't want Dean out hunting alone. Or God forbid, Dean hunting alone and Sam not being there with him, when it happens. And if he was out hunting full time, how could Sam have a rich and full family life? By the same token, if Dean gave up a lot of his hunting time, so Sam could have a fuller family life, Dean would be giving up a lot of what he loves to do.
This ending actually allows both guys to get the life they really saw for themselves.
And Dean the character really wouldn't want him and Sam to go out together. He would hate that, it would gut him. Jensen the actor might like the idea, as its cool and very cinematic. But for the character if they both died in this fight, unless it happened literally the same moment, it would gut him. Dying first but knowing Sam is most certainly dying shortly after? That would gut him. Sam dying moments before him? That would gut him. Sam is different, Sam has always wanted something more than just hunting with his family. Out of the two characters he can have a true happy ending and get something he has always wanted from his life. Dean not so much.
Это самое четкое описание моих мыслей сейчас. Я много думала об альтернативных вариантах, но только этот финал единственно правильный. Спасибо за такое классное изложение.
Thank you fellow fans and thank you Supernatural . We will miss you
Like you, we were in denial and thought Dean deserved better. I mourned Cas when he went to the empty, but after ugly crying off and on for hours afterward, i came to the realization that they did end it correctly [for Dean]. Dean had to die in a way that Sam wouldn't seek revenge. The writers gave Sam the life he wanted in the beginning, even though he missed Dean incredibly. If i had to change something, it would have been to expand the episode for at least 30 minutes to give Sam more transition time to show his happiness before he went to be with Dean. The reason Cas wasn't shown was because of the Covid. This was filmed during that time and they worked with a bare minimum of people.
I like your point of view that the way Dean die is kinda good so Sam doesnt goes away looking for revenge
This final episode, Den nailed it for everyone emotionally.
😢 Can..... Can someone please give me a hug?
Hugs man
Many of us are still emotionally wrecked. You are not alone. 🙏
man that broke me I'm still trying to get it together always keep fighting
You are correct about the pandemic creating problems with getting actors here. Vancouver has a mandatory 2 week quarantine when you come from outside the country. So the production would have had to house, and pay actors for 2 weeks of work that they arent even doing, before they even step on set for 1 second of filming. I was a little surprised when Jim Beaver came up literally to film about 4 hours of work. Others had scheduling issues, like a lot of fans assumed Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be back as John, but when things finally cleared up, he had to go right back to work on The Walking Dead.
I think the woman Sam had the kid with is kept as such a distance so fans can interpret it how they want. They couldnt probably get Shoshannah back to do the scene, so they just had a local shoot it, from far enough away that you cant be certain who it is.
“Deans in heaven now” oh just you wait
“This isn’t fun anymore.” 🤣
5:46 that’s the look when the shit hit the fan.
I know it seems weird to see Dean die in such an ordinary way after surviving so much, but we have to keep in mind that Chuck played a role in them surviving all these years. So the moment Chuck lost his powers, Sam and Dean began living an ordinary life, meaning both got ordinary deaths. And honestly, the way both died made sense to me. Dean always wanted to die on the job and Sam wanted a family and normal life. It was a good ending, in my opinion. Would I give it a 10/10? No. But it was still pretty good.
The reason we didn't see other characters was because of the COVID restrictions. And my theory is that Eileen was Sam's wife. But the actress probably couldn't make it due to COVID.
Do you think Dean going to pie fest is his Disney land or woodstock? Rest of the episode made wish I was watching it with friends who watched the show. Although Id probably say "Pass the tissues please.: all night long.
You just reminded me that they never addressed Kevin Tran.
