Travis, I am pretty sure the difference between PVC and Hypalon is not that hypalon will last longer, which it will, but the problem with PVC is UV degradation. A lot of the holes you had to patch up were not merely because you drove onto a rock, but because after a few years the PVC shell got very weak and would fail under really little stress. Now the point is moot, because you bought a dinghy built of the best possible boatbuilding material, if I may say so myself, being an small aluminum boat designer ;-) Now you just have to make sure it does not get stolen. It looks like a nice boat. Chocks modification - brilliant.
Yup Hypalon will outlast PVC by a factor of 4 or 5 regarding UV damage. I’ve got a 22 year old Achilles Japanese made Hypalon dinghy and it looks almost brand new when I clean it up. Never used sun covers or dinghy chaps on it once.
Nice ! Hope you have a really good cover for it once you are on an open ocean passage your most likely to want to store stuff in the hull , it’s really handy spot for all sorts of gear!
This new GoDu Dinghy looks really nice. And yes I agree with you when it comes to certain places having a rubber inflatable dinghy just wont's work. Even in a sandy beach area could cut up your dinghy sharp sea shell bits, glass coral pieces ect. Great modification you did on Jibsea2 for storing your new dinghy. Looking forward to next video.
That is an awesome dingy. The wheels will really make a difference for you. You guys must be chopping at the bit to get going south. Take care, see you next Sunday.
I really like the boat as well at the show but it’s just a bit heavier than i was hoping for. The GoDu is a perfect fit for JibSea 2! See you guys south! 😊
Interesting tender. I’ll check their website and check it out. My son has a 12.5ft Carbe with a 30hp outboard and it’s center console. It’s nice. Glad you won’t have issues with deflations anymore. Gotta let us know how getting in and out when your diving…. Stay safe!
Nice new dinghy it looks great wish I had 9,000 dollars for one.. Our dinghy is like patches we call it Turd Bucket.. We have patched and patched we will up grade soon do to the age of Turd bucket.. We have Two Teenage boys so we need a 9.5 ft dinghy. Always learn something new from your channel.. Hopefully your registration for your new dinghy isn’t too bad.. What are you going to name it? You guys always seem to be growing with your boat to make common sense solutions I like that.. Have a wonderful week
I'd be raising that dodger it's too low as you can see and to work rhe winch,I said this even when you first got the boat, maybe even move the gooseneck up a couple of inches
Congratulations with the new dinghy.🎉🎉 Does it have drain holes? If you work with dugo in any capacity you could suggest they look into integrating a venturi auto-bailer port. I'd love to see reviews of it with a small electric outboard for the short trips. In my imagination those flat surfaces begs for solar panels 😃
Stupid question why haven't you changed the LOCAL of the boat from Vancouver to Oakville/ Port Credit, is it a NoNo for a sea bearing vessel type of a superstition . The Jibasea was renamed so just wondering ( Canada is Canada IS coast to coast to coast) why Vancouver wasn't removed to PCYC or Port Credit or Mississauga/Toronto???
We chose Vancouver. First boat was Toronto bc that’s where Steph is from and where we sailed that boat off from. Jibsea II is Vancouver bc it’s where she was built and where Travis is from
Great deal! Almost 10 grand US for the dinghy, plus $1400 shipping plus taxes, that’s like 15 grand for the dinghy. The difference between a boat and the dinghy is, that boats hardly ever get stolen. Have you ever seen a sailboat chain and padlock to the dock? Until now the dinghys were stolen mostly for the motors , but now, such a beauty will make a decent fishing boat . I agree it’s nice, it’s superb compared to to RIB, but guys, come on😢
Dinghies are not inexpensive items no matter what they’re made of and the way we look at it, if we can avoid being stranded or needing to purchase another dinghy bc of a mere puncture (which have proven to be way too easy to do) it’s worth the investment for us…especially since we cruise full time.
Airtag, LoRa receiver with sirene in the locker 🤔. Price is a bit high for me, but with a 30-40 year lifespan it's not to bad. Not to mention that it is 98-100% recycle-able at it's end of life. With cnc and welding tech coming down in price I expect aluminum dinghies to pop up everywhere in 5-10 years time. All in all. A wery good choice for a new dinghy guys. Hope it will suite you well for many, many years 👍
It looks nice and rigid, I am wondering how hot it will get in the full sun especially in warmer climates? Wearing bikini might be burning those HOT buns?
Man are you serious You did all that work To the chalks on deck for your new tender and didn't even show us the end result I would've at least liked to see how the boat sat on the chalks And how the boat looked from underneath. With that whole piece missing that you cut out Not just a picture of the boat from above.
@SailingJibsea I'm just saying it was built up in the editing where I figured we would get a good look at it. Instead of of you guys doing work on the boat and us not getting to see exactly What the end result looked like.
OMG 😳😱 you guys ‼️ GoDu m.a.x.🎉 🎉🎉 What a great find. Definitely keeping this as a high on the list priority as we move closer to our next boat 🛥️ Happy you guys kept digging and looking. 👀 I can only imagine how your test ride went and then….light bulb 💡Just amazes me all that has come your way. Soooooo exciting 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 See you next time. ✨🌊💨⛵️⚓️🏝️👙🌞✨💕
I love watching your adventures, but, you have to learn how to properly use the word :seen"!! You saw something not seen something!! It makes an otherwise intelligent person sound like a moron. Please think about this!
Yikes, cynical much? We chose this dinghy because we believe it’s well worth what it brings to the table with hopes it will be our “forever dinghy”. We also do not get anything for free.
That certainly isn't my perfect dinghy. My inflatable floor takes a 15hp no problem, weighs half of what yours does and folds away in a locker at sea. I hate dinghies on deck while I am at sea. My wife and I can carry the dinghy easily. I just don't know how you have got so many punctures as I seem to have avoided that in the last 200,000 miles of cruising. I never carry a dinghy on davits at sea - it's just not safe and should definitely be avoided, a lesson I have learned the hard way.
We certainly all do cruise differently. Oh wow, where have you sailed in 200,000 miles? The rocky shorelines to get to hikes in off the beaten path areas have definitely been unkind to our inflatable.

@@Jarek12010 he said they bought it new when they started out. I think that was 2020 and it didn’t take long to get the name patches 😎
@@bartcanuck734 exactly. PVC in the Caribbean sun will not last long.
@ all good, they enjoyed the old one. New budget, new memories.

@@seatoskyadventures6130 my point exactly. Had same experience.
WOW! You two just went from having the coolest boat to coolest, go anywhere boat + dingy! Can't wait for the adventures!!!
Very nice looking dinghy and smart work on the holding blocks
Nice ! Hope you have a really good cover for it once you are on an open ocean passage your most likely to want to store stuff in the hull , it’s really handy spot for all sorts of gear!
Looking forward to you two getting back out there on the big blue. Stay Safe
We can’t wait!!
I’ve been dreaming for this kind of dinghy for years. I think it’s the perfect dink for globe trotters like you!
You guys are one anniversary away from matching track suits 🤖😂 … happy travels in the new rig.
Hahahah it just happens. We always come out matching 🤣
good job Tav

Great choice, should make your sailing adventures a little less stressful.
We agree!
Looks like everything is coming together. Good luck, I know you guys are ready to hit the water!
So ready!!
Awesome choice guys

I like your reasoning. There is another channel on their second lap with a alum dingy and it's sill going strong
Nice dinghy 😁 I agree if you have an aluminum Hull get a good aluminum dinghy ❤ good job
I really like the boat as well at the show but it’s just a bit heavier than i was hoping for. The GoDu is a perfect fit for JibSea 2! See you guys south! 😊
Ahhh new whip with run flats! Love it! How long before trav adds lights? ⏲️

Sweet!👍🥳

When you go to Europe next year you should go to Norway. It is amazing.
On the list!
Very nice dingy, but wow is it expensive. I would own one though, if we ever do the sailboat thing.
Travis, we had a GoTo dinghy purchased last year and are hoping you don't have the experience's we had with ours.
Congratulations with the new dinghy.🎉🎉
Does it have drain holes?

Yep it’s got a drain hole like most dinghies in the hull on the transom and two drain holes on each tube
Cool dinghy
Nice dingy! 🫵 😄
Nice dingy. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
That's cool...
Do you guys have a heater on JS 2?
Thankfully yes! It’s been chilly
👍💯Awesome
Are you guys going to continue using the Tohatsu outboard, or get a bigger outboard?
Going to stick with ours until we save up enough for a 2 stroke when we’re in a spot where they’re available to pick up!
@SailingJibsea Why a 2 stroke?
@ because it’s much lighter
Yeah it's snowing in Northern Utah 😅
Winter has arrived!
GoDu is about to get swamped with orders.
It’s the cats ass ! AirTag ,,,Merry Christmas and peace on earth and ocean Munimula aluminum
Please get a 15hp. That thing will fly.
Haha it def would!
Are we not going to talk about the sus looking weld?

*perfect dinghy if you have a crane.
It looks nice and rigid, I am wondering how hot it will get in the full sun especially in warmer climates? Wearing bikini might be burning those HOT buns?
It’s got SeaDek on top and in the floor. Also Sunbrella bumper covers so it won’t be an issue at all

The hull sits flush now in comparison with how we showed the hull rested on the chocks before the mod

9000 bucks not for me!!!
It’s a bigger investment but buying an inflatable over and over adds up too
I love watching your adventures, but, you have to learn how to properly use the word :seen"!! You saw something not seen something!! It makes an otherwise intelligent person sound like a moron. Please think about this!
at 8500 dollars lets be honest, the only reason u got this is because it was free.
Yikes, cynical much? We chose this dinghy because we believe it’s well worth what it brings to the table with hopes it will be our “forever dinghy”. We also do not get anything for free.
@@SailingJibsea no way u paid full price, i would have made u 1 to order at half the price if u did and included an outboard lol

Nice infomercial. You did a great job on prompting your sponsor. Will there be a video this week or just the commercial?
