Hey there! So glad you're still doing your videos and loving that you are all into the salt world now! This is Johnny (Addicted 2 Fresh) if you remember me from a few yrs back! I wish I can still film and make videos but I got too busy w life :( Anyway I don't know how to PM you but I want to propose something to you about your filming as I'm a FT filmmaker. Lmk how we can go about this! love to hear from you and loving how you're killing everything! BTW congrats on the baby! I got 2 myself (9, 12) so I know fatherhood quite well!
Awesome video! I’ve only really targeted stripers on the fly here in NJ but seeing you catch these gators makes me want to try to catch some on the fly. Keep up the great content
Great explanation on what you are doing and using. We are out of there with the big red boat, so we won’t be spooking the fish anymore. Try 2 1/2 oz shorty. It worked very well for me. By the way, where did you get the chicken sandwich? Thanks David
I live in Michigan and fish all freshwater species outside of panfish. I travel to southern Florida for work several times a year and always rent AirBNBs on the intercostal. In February, the bluefish were in the canals and I was blown away by how quick I went through plastics. A missed hookset meant that I had to put on a new bait because it would get bitten in half. Very cool first experience fishing them- they fight like hell! Great video!
You don't have to use expensive baits when they are hitting like that. If the blues can see it, they will try to eat it. I have bluefish bite marks in my kayak paddle from tooling around the harbor at night (please keep hands and feet inside the ride).
i used a VS200 on a 10' rod for many years. my wife bought me a used VS150 to use on a 9'er. i had to sell the reel because it was a knuckle buster. i now have another 150 with the VSB reel stem & the extended handle arm. the 150 is a different reel with those two mods. i actually like it better than my 200!
Where are you guys? I'm in CT and we haven't seen Gator sized blues in ages. The last few years it's been all Stripers here and RI (unless you're on a boat).
@@saganworshipper6062 south shore longisland, they come every year. Bout a month ago you could find them in the bay, 1-4ft of water. Now you have better luck in the inlets or ocean surf
2 things I have trouble with , ! don't put the hooks in your guides eyes , feet OK , 2 I would never lay my equipment in the sand , for what ever it is worth Frank T
I've caught MANY bluefish over 20 pounds in my lifetime here in CT, more than I can count. Pound for pound one of the most ferocious fish in the ocean. They fight like hell but are also straight up marine piranha, massive teeth. A "gator sized" blue could basically eat a large sized salmon in two bites lmao.
I bought a Van Staal VR175 and a 9 foot legend on sale for $450 about 4 years ago and it is basically the only rig I use now lol. I have a Stella and an OG built here in CT VS150 , among other reels but this is just the one that feels best to me. I also have Mojos and Lamiglass GSB's but the Legend is by far my fav. The only other rod that is a close second is the older Loomis Surf Series the black and silver ones from like 1999 lol. All the St Croix surf rods are great though.
Would appreciate you might consider adding commentary to your videos when making lure changes. In this vid, you start with a bunkerSP, we see one cast, then a lure swap to a swimbait. We all know you cast that bunkerSP more than once, but the edit gives the impression of an early presentation change. I’d be interested in your thinking and reasonings behind those kinds of adjustments. Thanks for considering.
I’m relatively new to surf fishing, only doing for about 2 years so far and I’m hooked. I imagine I’d be doing this as long as my body allows me to, it’s so much fun. I’ve learned a lot from your channel, especially with the gear you use. I’ve never really explored the back bays, can you suggest a cool spot for me to try?
People don’t willingly give up spots…you literally have to take a day and go out scouting. Or when you meet people at places just ask them…people will tell you in person but not online
@@semajd5995 I'm going to take your advice. I've been google mapping the back bays of the area where I usually fish for potential spots and ways to access it. Can't wait to actually scout it to see if they are accessible.
Anyone have any advice for lures/techniques catching stripers?? I Live near shinnecock Southampton area.. bucktails? Diamonds? Magdarters??? Someone help pls lol caught multiple nice blues, still looking for my first ever striper
Something to help clear up your explanations..... A - Your jig technique is known as the "swing". Where you throw it up current and work it down current. The lure swings right in front of you while presenting it. Only problem is that you need a viable amount of open area to work a light jig like that. Doing that around a heavily populated area will only result in tangles and pissed off anglers B - The "forbidden" lure is one of the most widely known lures in the fishing industry known as keitechs. You should invest some time reviewing the z-man products. They produce pro cure gel and hold up 10x better than most other plastics C - Not to mock your click bait title..... but a bluefish will hit anything. You could attach a hook to a spoon and they'll eat it lol You can thank me later when you save money for your channel promotion
I would love to see a video on how you choose a location to fish and what lures you choose to use. 👍
Yes x2😅
Hi like your style of fishing want to find out about your poppers and swim bait lures where can I get them
I noticed your knot on that VMC jighead. Wise choice as a loop knot allows MUCH more action when free to swim
Dood! Use a Z-man paddle tail, you can hit multiple bluefish on one soft plastic vs sacrificing many 👊🏻
I just started doing that this year! They last like 3 big bluefish

You have to catch at least one blue on the spoon lure, needs to be a yearly tradition
Great video and thanks for sharing it. I made it about halfway through it before I hit the subscribe button.
Thank you!
More to come!! When the blues come in, I’m out there every day! It’s some of my favorite fishing!
Bluefish make excellent shark bait
where is that place good fishing🐟🐟🐟🎣🎣
Nice video man!!! I got the chance to go out yesterday and was absolutely crushing gator blues in the bay on top water! So much fun !
That’s so awesome! I love topwater! Congrats! I hope you have many more days like that!

i have a 9 ft mojo surf i love it in all conditions. had it for 2 years its a great rod . great vid btw 👍👍
Thanks for mentioning which jig head and swim bait you’re using
Link to that roof rack rod holder? Want to see that 10’6” MH rod in action! The 9’ looks great in that application.
Loving the videos!
What’s been better so far this year, incoming or outgoing tide?
That’s why I ONLY use Zman soft plastics when they’re around.
I’ve never saw you use tins! Cheaper than expensive swim baits!
Awesome video tks
Love your videos dude i seen you last week on 495 i was out there lol
every one of them would be a fish of a lifetime for us here in australia , they rarely get that big here . i'm so jealous .

what do you mean by needing heavier drag when working with those hooks? 8:35
Blue fish are my favorite in new smyrna
I have always caught more bluefish on a popper!
That’s the most fun way of catching them!

Fun with blues do you have a wire leader on
If it matters, what kind of line do you recommend for ocean fishing?
Figured it out😉
Where were you fishing?
What type of knot do you use to tie onto your swivel? I lost two lures and two monster blues so far I need help
Clinch knots 👍🏼
Palomar for me.
Use SP minnow...blues luv 'em
They sure do!

Use a Blurple Diawa SP Minnow at dusk. 6inch
I'm guessing that reel is sealed well ?! Dropping in the water and in the sand ! Is asking for a locked up reel !
Fully sealed 🙌🏼🙌🏼

I’ll like to see 10.6 rod, I still don't know if I get 10 ft or 10.6 ft
Rip to the fishing reel and pile sitting in that salt water. I hope you rinsed it off good at least.
It’s all good man.

YO-ZURI MAG DARTER 6 1/2" (F) es este. O es otra marca please
You're correct. Go with the 2oz
North shore I assume, but where at?
South shore!

Lol, it’s Erica’s reel. It fits her hand. I use the 200. that one fits my hand

Nice
Stop calling them "giant". Theyre not giant at all
No. They are giant.
Real fisherman use cut bait.
