I have definitely super glued my share of reeds, mostly in college. Don't seem to get cracks in my reeds anymore (unless I smash them). I think because I weed out potential cracks in my early processing process.
This is definitely something I pretty much only see on student reeds these days. The reed in this video was actually from when I had dropped a drying rack on the floor full of brand new reeds.
A few days is plenty of time to get thee to a hardware store. Hope your concert went well and you remember to never leave yourself with just one good reed!

I play " torture" the clarinet, I've had success with wood glue, of course you have to leave it overnight, but its definitely not toxic and is probably a more natural way to glue wood, it is Apparently stronger than actual wood
Interesting. Wood glue certainly has a different chemistry than super glue, but most of them contain toxins as well. Do you water it down before using it on a reed? It seems like it would be much too thick otherwise.

That might be useful but, as a beginner, I couldn't get past the exaggerated stuff in the beginning. Good luck.

Once it’s dry, super glue is pretty safe in your mouth.
Do Not Put Super Glue in your Mouth.
